  1. I'm glad to see the "portly specialist" back, our bullpen definitely needs help, and atleast this is another guy to get out lefties instead of saving that role just for Shouse, who now can be used for more than just one hitter, considering he's been close to, if not our best reliever, as of the last few months.
  2. JJ in the 8 spot > JJ in the 2 spot JJ multi-hit games in the 8 spot > JJ multi-double play games in the 2 spot
  3. It honestly looks like he's walking when he's 'running' the bases. He got thrown out once at third, why he went I have no idea, then he should have been thrown out at home on the play later on in the game too. To me, there's no part of his game that can balance out him being so flat out slow and so poor at throwing out baserunners. If he was hitting .330 with 25 homers and 65 RBI's, I really wouldn't have a problem with him being this ridiculously slow.
  4. Today should be a sweet game...Sheets vs. Oswalt and the Brewers really need to keep winning...
  5. Of Estrada's 8 HRs - 8 before the All-Star break, 0 after the All-Star break. Of Estrada's 42 RBI - 34 before the All-Star break, 8 after the All-Star break. Terrific.
  6. Brewers 84-78 (17-11) - Hoping they make it to my preseason prediction Cubs 84-78 (16-13) - Forcing a sweet one game playoff for the division Cardinals 79-83 (14-17) - Long stretch will hopefully take a toll on some of those aging position players
  7. The bummer is I really don't see too many scenarios where we don't have Soup on the team for the next three years. I'm sure it will be interesting how it pans out. Good stuff about Cappy too, I'd have to agree that he has a slight, yet very prolonged case of the 'Victor Santos/Doug Davis' lack of run support syndrome.
  8. DougJones43...I don't know if it's because I'm really tired or because your list is just that funny, but atleast I can go to bed having had a laugh rather than just be irritated at Ned all night.
  9. Does anyone remember the show Hardball, it was only like one season and I forget even what the central story was, I just remember I was the mascot from that show one year for Halloween...he had a big baseball head and was always wasted. Anyone?
  10. The question still irks me a bit too...maybe they polled five pre-K students and one of them didn't know, hence it became a stat to be used on national television.
  11. My other vent is that Ned's move (or lack thereof) was so blatantly silly that even the last of the Ned supporters are coming out against him. NED, you ALWAYS play the L/R R/L matchups, yet you refuse to here?
  12. Crewcrazy...thanks for the graphic, I couldn't get Gameday to load tonight to check that out. Just wow.
  13. Let's go Cappy...huge chance to turn it around in a huge game...
  14. OK guys...let's get at least one here...
  15. Not a bad start so far...I like this Rickie...and Braun hit that ball hard...keep it up guys. MENCHED
  16. .548 OBP, not too shabby, might have to start calling him Barry...or not.
  17. Excellent win last night, excellent IGT today, leading to an excellent win tonight? Like others have said, and to quote Meatloaf, "Two out of three ain't bad"
  18. 2-1 at Cubs 2-1 vs. Pirates 2-1 vs. Astros 1-2 at Reds 0-3 at Pirates 2-1 vs. Reds 2-1 at Astros 1-3 at Braves 2-1 vs. Cardinals 3-1 vs. Padres 17-15, being optimistic. 82-80 for the season. I wish I would have been more towards losing a bunch or more towards winning a bunch, but I'm not to confident either way so I wimped out and picked a close to .500 record the rest of the way. Cubs 84-78 Brewers 82-80 Cardinals 80-82
  19. It is a pretty stupid question, I'm not sure I believe that 20% of the nation can't find the United States on a map. Aside from that, going down the Billy Madison road, nothing she said there could be considered a rational thought and anyone who watches that is now dumber. I award her no points... I do give AC Slater credit for not bursting out laughing...
  20. Thanks...I reformatted my computer awhile ago and didn't reinstall Firefox because I was too lazy and was using IE, and it was working fine so I went with it. I just downloaded Firefox and everything is back. Thanks.
  21. When I go to post a reply, I don't have any options any more, well buttons I guess I should say, for adding the bold, italic, colors, etc. Is this something that happened to everyone and now we have to put our own code in, or is it just me?

  23. I think Melvin has done a fine job so far, and I agree with the point that '08 and '09 will be most telling in what he has accomplished. In my opinion, anything this year was going to be gravy as I thought and still think '08 will be our first season where we can be truly disappointed if they aren't in playoff contention nearing the end of the season. He's taken an atrocious Major League roster from when he got here and turned it into a core of guys he had a hand in drafting. Let's not forget, they are still in their early 20's, and relatively speaking didn't spend all that much time in the Minors, so the learning curve extended into the Majors. As for signings, I think the Suppan deal will prove to be his worst. At the time I think alot, if not most, people liked it just because alot of people only really heard of him from the postseason last year. Another part of me says it was a signing that was made just to be made, for some reason we had to pick up someone with a "big name," even though he was only really a big name because he played a big part in the Cardinals postseason. The Hall signing makes me somewhat nervous...I can't say it was a bad thing to do to lock him up for 4yr/24mil, after the year he had last year. If Doug felt Hall could produce 35hr/85rbi every year, I would say we got a bargain based on what Doug was hoping for. I do think Billy will have a much better '08 than '07, but if I had to guess I would say 25hr/70-80rbi/.275ish, in which case I still think we got a good deal on Hall based on the going rate. My guess would be Doug will be around atleast through '09. I think the number one thing a GM in Milwaukee can do is make the minor league system the best it can be. It's the only route to sustained success for a team that just can't buy pieces every year. The other component is simply not being wrong in veteran dealings, which is a hell of a burden to bear when other teams can literally afford to be wrong sometimes. Exactly, even if it means a few years of decent seasons then losing guys, then doing it all over again, it pretty much is the only way it can work.
  24. Indians are the team I follow the most after the Brewers, then the Mariners. The best part is, if the season ended now, my four "favorite" AL teams would be in the playoffs. The Phillies are creeping up my list since they have both the Muscle and Big Country on their roster now.
  25. I can see it now, the Brewers will take the first one in Chicago, getting us to a game or game and a half back, then we'll blow the last two games. It's just the way they tear at our emotions.
