  1. Without actually opening up the case, I'm fairly certain he has a nvidia video card. The monitor is only 3 years old, so I doubt that is the issue, especially since the monitor always works when it boots up. I'll try his monitor on my computer tomorrow (where I know I have on board video) along with updating the drivers on the video card on his computer. Just out of curiosity, what would happen if the video card was taken out? Is there a video card on the motherboard that would begin to work? He really only uses the computer for internet surfing, downloading music, and on a rare rare occasion using the tv tuner, so he would probably be fine with the on board video.
  2. My brother is having issues with his desktop. It starts up just fine, but after a few minutes of running, the screen starts to shake and the whole screen slowly migrates to the left. After a few minutes of shaking, the screen just goes black and won't come back on. By no means am I a "tech-o-weenie," but I figured it might be dust causing the computer overheat. So yesterday we took it apart, found a lot of dust and we used compressed air to clean the fans. Once we fired the computer back up, it took a little longer for the screen to start shaking, but the screen did eventually go black. The computer is dust-free now, so dust can be eliminated from the cause. What else could it be? Thanks for your help.
  3. Hockey can't come soon enough. To me, it is much more fun to watch than football. If I wasn't already the commisioner a 12 man fantasy league...I would have loved to join your league RyDogg. I just think my head would start to spin if I did two leagues. On another note, I'm thinking about buying the NHL Gamecenter package this year with the money I am going to make for winning fantasy baseball. I'm reading about the option to stream it through the PS3 to my 42 inch in HD in addition to being able to stream it on any computer. Since Charter doesn't even offer the Center Ice package in HD, this seems like the way to go. Does anyone have any experience with Gamecenter? Is it similar to MLB.tv? I had good experiences with that a few years ago to watch Brewer games when the Bucks were on FSN. If you are wondering, I lived in Madison, but my ISP gave me a Canadian IP address so Blue Jay games were the games that got blacked out.
  4. It will probably be on 1070 in Madison. If not it will be on 1310. Both of these stations will not have the Packers on at the same time.
  5. I can't believe I just saw Tyler Green. Do they even know who this guy is?
  6. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_oBQDz2Jq_4/TWC_f75b_iI/AAAAAAAAAIk/YEMU7M_KsC8/s400/pink-moon.jpg Kind of looks like an orange drinking some water. The Apples in Stereo have some pretty unique album covers that might work too. Can't find one with a picture of a fruit though.
  7. Going to the Dreamscapes Project website to find out when their next album was coming out only to find out that it was already was out and that they were giving away for free on their website.
  8. I like this quote from the same guy with the gems above http://mobi-wall.brothersoft.com/files/320240/t/1282330023964.jpgOh really??? They also won it in 2010.
  9. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game. Even though I'm not a fan of Canadian hockey teams...go Nucks. That is how much I dislike Boston fans. They were terrible when we went to a game at Fenway against the Royals.
  10. Plate Discipline I believe you are looking for the Z-Swing% under plate discipline. Counsell is at 62.2% while league average is 64.7%. I'm no stat head...but I know that this probably isn't that significant. I do see his zone swing percentage dropping each year though since pitchfx stats were accumulated. Edit: Links not working.
  11. Out of those 3 teams you list, I would say I am the biggest fan of the Wild. The team I am most passionate about is definitely the Coyotes though. Good thing they are not moving to Winnipeg next year.
  12. I agree. Awesome game. Datsyuk's backhand goal going to the far side post to make it a one goal game in the third was just crazy ridiculous. Another game 7 is the reason the NHL playoffs are nothing short of spectacular. Predicting Sharks over Lightning in 5.
  13. This thread needed to get bumped. What a comeback from the Red Wings against the Sharks. Even though I think they are the Yankees of hockey, coming back from 3-0 in the series to force a game 7 is quite impressive. With the scoring chances Cleary was getting, the score could have easily been tilted towards the wings without the dramatics. Niemi was simply amazing (not saying that Howard isn't).
  14. My solution would be to get a Zune. All you do is go into the Zune software, highlight all the songs, and click copy to my collection. No headache and it's free. This is what happened when my motherboard crashed on my old computer and it ate my hard drive in the process of dying. Obviously this solution is not going to help your cause. I've heard of people having success with Copytrans in the past...so it may not be a bad option if nothing else works. I like hearing it from multiple sources before I spend my money...so I'm returning the favor for a change.
  15. Hurricane Deck was pretty awesome too. You get to stand on a wood deck right below the falls. I also agree the Canadian Side is much more spectacular. It's also bugging me because Niagara is spelled wrong...but I get annoyed by little things like that.
  16. Great win in 2ot by the Preds tonight. Their first goal should have never happened but the second one was awesome...a perfect cross ice pass snap shot.
  17. My birthday is tomorrow...so I beg to differ young guns
  18. Caps, Sabres, Habs, and Bolts in the East Nucks, Sharks (only because Anze is out), Yotes, and Ducks in the West A couple random thoughts, it's funny how just about every hockey team can be shortened to one syllable. Part of me wishes that the NHL didn't reseed after each round because it would be fun filling out hockey brackets like the NCAA Tourney. There is always some type of "cinderella" story. Last year, it was the Habs taking down the Caps. Between the two conferences, no two teams of the same seed won...ie the second round still had seeds 1-8 in them.
  19. I know charter had last Saturday's game on channel 87...but unfortunately Charter doesn't serve your area. There are always streaming websites that you can find...but the legality of those websites is questionable.
  20. I just updated the list from everything above this post. For all the people that questioned the acoustic guitar criteria, check out Modest Mouse - Parting of the Sensory. This song does an excellent job slowly transitioning from the acoustic start. May be some profane language in the song just to warn you. Edit: Youtube is broken and profanity warning
  21. My brother and I were discussing that style song over the weekend and we mutually concluded that it was a unique style song that we both enjoy listening to. He even went as far as claiming it was the best kind of music. Also, it might make a great biking mix too...I really can't think of any other reason. My brother does have a birthday coming up that I could gift this playlist to him, but that was definitely not my intent. I'll use it more than him.
  22. Motorcycle Driveby was the motivation for this playlist. This is why I said it was an ideal song...but it doesn't have to. Removing this barrier opened up a wide variety of style that I enjoy when I listen to music.
  23. Thanks to excel's text to columns feature and some common sense, I've created a master list sorted by artist and made it the lead post. The playlist is far from being complete, but at least the Zune Marketplace is making it easy getting all of the songs. Now it's a matter of trimming out songs that I don't like (sorry GNR) but I figured people should be able to see the master list if they want to make a similar playlist. So far I'm a huge fan of the mix of artists and style of music...should be an interesting final product. Much like I like picking out new microbrews I've never heard of based upon the name and style of beer, I always enjoy listening to an artist I've never heard of before. Whirring is a great song and I still haven't digested all of the bands Menotti and others mentioned, but I have heard of quite a few of them (huge Silversun Pickups fan!).
  24. Thanks for all the suggestions. Like I said, it doesn't have to start out acoustically....it just has to build up. I'm pretty sure Tool has no idea what an acoustic guitar is but many of their songs build up. The Brewerfan community has an amazing taste in music is all I have to say.
  25. I'm trying to compile a playlist that consists of songs that slowly build up. An ideal song is one that starts out with an acoustic guitar and finishes epically...but it doesn't have to. So far I have: AC/DC - Hell's Bells Aerosmith - Dream On Allman Brothers - In Memory of Elizabeth Reed American Pie - Don McLean Apocalyptica - Worlds Collide Audioslave - Cochise Augustana - Boston Bad Company - Feel Like Makin' Love Beatles - Hey Jude Beatles - Let it Be Beck - Where It's At Bell X1 - Eve, The Apple Of My Eye Ben Folds - The Luckiest Ben Harper - So High So Low Beta Band - Dry The Rain Billy Joel - Captain Jack Black Sabbath - War Pigs Breaking Benjamin - Forget It Broken Social Scene - It's All Gonna Break Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road Bush - Glycerine Bush - Greedy Fly Candlebox - Cover Me Candlebox - Far Behind CCR - I Heard it Through the Grapevine Chris Deburgh - A Spaceman Came Traveling Coheed & Cambria - Welcome Home Coldplay - Fix You Coldplay - The Scientist Dave Matthews Band - All Along The Watchtower Dave Matthews Band - You Might Die Trying (live off Mile High Music Festival) David Bowie - Rock and Roll Suicide David Gray - Alibi David Gray - Slow Motion Death Cab For Cutie - Marching Bands of Manhattan Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism Diamond Head - Am I Evil Dire Straits - Money for Nothing Eagles - Hotel California Embrace - I Can't Come Down Evanescence - My Immortal (Full Band) Fear Factory - Resurrection Fleetwood Mac - The Chain Foo Fighters - Band on the Run (cover) Foo Fighters - Everlong Foo Fighters - This is a Call Grateful Dead - Ripple Guess Who - American Woman Guns N Roses - November Rain Guns N Roses - Paradise City Guns N Roses - Sweet Child O Mine Guster - Come Downstairs and Say Hello Guster - Either Way Halloween, Alaska - All the Arms around You Hurt - Alone With The Sea Hurt - Better Hurt - Falls Apart Hurt - House Carpenter Hurt - Summers Lost Hurt - Talking To God Ike and Tina Turner - Proud Mary Incubus - Anna Molly Incubus - The Warmth Iron Maiden - Hallowed be thy Name Jack's Mannequin - Caves Jack's Mannequin - Swim Jack's Mannequin - Walls Jethro Tull - Cross-Eyed Mary Jethro Tull - Locomotive Breath Journey - Don't Stop Believin' Joy Formidable - Whirring Led Zeppelin - Dazed & Confused (first version -- there are two -- off the BBC Sessions album) Led Zeppelin - Gallows Pole Led Zeppelin - Over the Hills and Far Away Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven Led Zeppelin - What is and What Should Never Be Lifehouse - Hanging By A Moment Lighthouse - Everything Linkin Park - Crawling Linkin Park - Shadow of the Day Linkin Park - Valentine's Day Live - I Alone Live - Lightning Crashes Live - The Dolphin's Cry Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird Manchester Orchestra - I've Got Friends Meatloaf - Paradise by the Dashboard Light Metallica - ...and Justice for All Metallica - Blackened Metallica - Enter Sandman Metallica - Fade to Black Metallica - Nothing Else Matters Metallica - One Modest Mouse - Fire It Up Modest Mouse - Little Hotel Modest Mouse - Parting of the Sensory Modest Mouse - Spitting Venom Motley Crew - Home Sweet Home Mumford & Sons - Little Lion Man Mumford & Sons - The Cave Nada Surf - If You Leave Nine Inch Nails - Hurt Nirvana - All Apologies Nirvana - Where Did You Sleep Last Night (cover) Oleander - Why I'm Here Ozzy Osbourne - Revelation (Mother Earth) Patti Smith - Free Money Pearl Jam - Black Pearl Jam - Rearviewmirror Pearl Jam - Unthought Known Pete Yorn - Atlantic City/Murray (live track, off of Live from New Jersey) Pete Yorn - Crystal Village Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight Placebo - Meds Postal Service - In the Air Tonight (cover) Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody Queen / David Bowie - Under Pressure Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees Radiohead - Let Down Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name of REM - Man on the Moon Robert Randolph & the Family Band - Shake Your Hips Robert Randolph & the Family Band - Tears of Joy Robert Randolph & the Family Band - Ted's Jam Santana - Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen Secondhand Serenade - Goodbye Secondhand Serenade - Life A Knife Secondhand Serenade - Why Secondhand Serenade - Twist in My Story Sia - Breathe Me Sick Puppies - All The Same Sick Puppies - Odd One Silversun Pickups - Lazy Eye Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet With Butterfly Wings Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight Tonight Something Corporate - Konstantine Stone Sour - Through the Glass Styx - Come Sail Away Switchfoot - Dare You To Move System Of A Down - Lonely Day Taproot - Calling Tesla - Gettin' Better The Decemberists - The Wanting Comes in Waves/Repaid The Fray - Happiness The Only Moment We Were Alone - Explosions in the Sky The Raconteurs - Carolina Drama The Raconteurs - Rich Kid Blues The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Your Guardian Angel The Rolling Stones - Gimmie Shelter The Rolling Stones - Midnight Rambler The Rolling Stones - You Can't Always Get What You Want Third Eye Blind - Motorcycle Driveby Tool - 46&2 Tool - Jambi Tool - Lateralus Tool - Parabol/Parabola Tool - Schism Tool - Vicarious U2 - Where the Streets Have No Name Velvet Underground - Heroine Any other suggestions?
