    No matter what he had, it should've been reported to MLB right away, shouldn't it? I believe him, but I think he's still getting suspended.

    Maybe Doug is planning to know the results of the Braun sitch before the negotiating period would end with Aoki, so he's just making sure this option is available if he does get suspended? Either way, on paper it seems like it'd be great to add this guy even with his noodle arm. Those stats are very promising and he could make Morgan expendable if he performs while Braun is out.

    I really wish they would non-tender Loe tonight. Seems like you could find someone else and get similar results for less than 2.8

    Until Braun returns... 1. Morgan CF 2. Gamel LF 3. Ramirez 1B 4. Weeks 2B 5. Hart RF 6. Green 3B 7. Lucroy C 8. Gonzales SS 9. Pitcher After Braun returns, you either leave Ramirez at 1B if Gamel is struggling or you move him over to 3B if Green is struggling.

    Maybe he didn't pitch up to his full capability last year, but to expect him to sniff his 2009 season again is pretty unrealistic. Those numbers are hard for any pitcher to reach over a single season, and you want him to do it again?

    Carlos Lee can barely play LF in Minute Maid Park let alone a real left field. After signing Ramirez, there is nowhere for him to play.

    I'd love to know where he's going to play next year, but I'm guessing Melvin doesn't even know that answer right now. I would really prefer he play 1B and stick Gamel in LF until Braun returns... if they think Gamel can handle LF. If Green is hitting well when Braun returns, then you leave things alone and get Gamel playing time when you can... if he isn't but Gamel IS... you shuffle A-Ram over to 3rd and give Gamel 1B. There are definitely a lot of options. I guess you could do it the other way around if you think Green can play some LF, but I don't think he ever has.

    I am hoping he plays 1B. He's worse than McGehee at 3rd. Gamel could maybe play LF until Braun comes back? I really don't want him for 3 years. But we had to do it to get him.

    I am also devastated... but because of all the conflicting information and LACK of information thus far, I'm going to hold onto hope that something fishy is going on. Waiting til next month to know is going to be tough.

    I don't think one season's budget is going to dictate that either... but I knew we weren't signing Prince long before K-Rod accepted arbitration.

    Like others have said, he was finally used correctly last year after we got Morgan. I would be really happy with him starting against all LHP and the occasional start against a RHP. Best CF in baseball with a great arm (which is a big upgrade over Morgan's noodle-arm and ill-advised throws home). Terrible plate discipline and decision-making on the basepaths, but I love watching him play.

    We'll probably know pretty soon if Doug meant it when he said they were still free to do what they wanted even after the K-Rod fiasco. I'm guessing it's ARam or bust... "bust" = we stick with in-house options. I don't see another bat that would make a big impact like he might... even though I'm sure I won't like what he ends up getting paid.

    I think against RHP, Gamel could thrive in that 2-spot. You get some nice pitches to hit there.

    It seems like most vesting options are very attainable. I hope this one isn't.

    Yeah, I'm pretty underwhelmed by this. I guess I'll appreciate the defense when I see it. There is no offense to appreciate.

    Career OBP of .291. Yuck. I wish there were better options out there. I'm not feeling so good about this offseason.

    I didn't think of that. Now I'm afraid that Fielder will become a Cardinal. They had been planning to spend 175-200 million on Pujols this offseason... you would think that money is there for another 1B now.

    I got this second hand, so it's still just a rumor I guess, but I've read posts of people claiming that MLB Network is reporting that Rollins and the Phillies have a deal in place.
