  1. Since I've never found out about a Brewer trade and thought immediately "wow, we got a steal there"... I fully expect us to land Sanchez and NOT Bumgarner for Hart. I'd love to be wrong.
  2. Corey Hart looks awful this year in the outfield. I think he and Braun have both gotten worse the past year or two, defensively.
  3. If your parents are just going to use the computer for email and internet, there's no need to spend twice as much on a mac. I bought my dad a Dell Inspiron 15 this past year for his birthday and for just email and internet... it runs pretty fast and he's had no issues. And it was only $450. The specs aren't great on machines like this but for what they need it for... it seems pointless to spend the extra money on a "suped-up" machine.
  4. I agree, I would LOVE Bumgarner straight up for him.
  5. Terrace Reserved, Section 413 - Row 11. 2 tickets, looking for face value, which is $30 for the pair. Please email me at chadmcurtis@yahoo.com if you're interested - I'm not good at checking my PM's on here. Thanks!
  6. I really want to know if this thread is for real or not... but I'm guessing the poster would be too embarrassed to admit he's serious at this point. Either way I laughed a lot.
  7. Somebody - either Mark or BA replied to that comment with "interesting". I think what they really thought was... "bullcorn"
  8. For those of you watching and listening to the TV broadcast... There's no way that turning a brat 4 times rather than 2 makes it safer to eat.
  9. Regardless of how you think Hart will play in the second half, this team is going nowhere and probably won't want to pay Hart 6-10 mil to play RF for us in 2011... so why not cut ties now and try to get something for him.
  10. Adam Dunn and Manny Ramirez still play in the National League - anything is possible.
  11. We really need to take what we can get for Hart. This is the perfect time to move him and we aren't going anywhere this year. And even if he somehow keeps this production up... he's going to ask for 8-10 mil in arbitration next year.
  12. I should've used the word "think" instead of "know"... because there's no way of knowing for sure. Hart is most likely not going to continue to be this good - but I'm sure some GM's think or hope he will and will want him. I used to think we should've sold high on McGehee and now I'm more inclined to keep him because he's showing he wasn't a fluke last year.
  13. I don't think you're serious, but just in case you are... I think "selling high" is trading a player when you know there's no way they will sustain that level of on-field success (Hart right now)... and it's unlikely that Braun or Gallardo decline in performance anytime soon. We may not have even seen the best of them yet.
  14. It's funny how at-the-time I thought the Riske signing was one of the best FA acquisitions we'd made in the past 5 years or so. Things didn't turn out so well.
  15. Kottares/Lucroy, McGehee, Escobar, Gomez, and Gamel (if he ends up playing 1B or 3B next year) means that at least 5 of the 8 position players on the team next year will be making near the league minimum. Add Lorenzo Cain into RF and that's 6 out of 8. Basically the only guys that would be making more than a million dollars per season are Braun and Weeks if we keep him. That's a very cheap core of players. Also, we have a lot of cheap bullpen options and don't really need to spend more there. Stetter, Braddock, Axford, Loe, Estrada, Narveson - I'm sure there are other potential guys I'm missing. If management can use all that free money to get the right starting pitching here (that's a HUGE "if"), it seems like this club could compete. Like someone mentioned, it may be much wiser to trade for these higher paid players rather than offer them FA contracts. I don't see us signing Cliff Lee, but maybe Attanasio wants to win right now?
  16. I definitely didn't mean to say Prince isn't above average - and he is having a good year... just a down year for him. I just think with an average 1B in his place we could still have an overall above average offense. I didn't think about how his presence makes the people around him better, though. That's true.
  17. I realize that the pitching on this team is an utter mess right now... but I think the one silver lining from this entire season is that the Brewers have proven they have a formidable offense WITHOUT Prince Fielder. A lot of people seem to think we need to completely overhaul this team and hope that we can compete again a few years down the road. I actually think that if the management uses our trade chips and money wisely we can be back in it again starting next year. Fielder started off horribly and has since improved to have decent numbers right now - but they are not great numbers. The entire time he was struggling the Brewers were ranked 1st or 2nd in all the major offensive categories. I realize that some people will say those team stats were inflated by the Pirates blowouts... but they are STILL ranked in the top 3 or 4 in every major offensive category in the NL. This offense CAN compete with someone else playing 1B for us. I think that moving Fielder and Hart either this year or in the offseason, along with freeing up a ton of money (Fielder, Hart, Hall, Suppan all off the books) can help us find the pitching that we desperately need. I just don't agree that we are 3-4 years away from competing again.
  18. So with the Giants needing offense and being in contention... is there any chance Fielder packaged with Hart or another player or two could get us Madison Bumganer? Or would the Giants want to leave 1B open for Sandoval eventually?
  19. I hope this thread sinks like a stone. Gallardo isn't going anywhere. He's the only safe one on the entire pitching staff.
  20. The Brewers made the great decision to sign Hawkins to a 2-year deal, so I don't see his release coming regardless of his performance/health this year.
  21. I agree, McGehee is still cheap... keep him and Gamel and hopefully one can play 3B and one can play 1B starting next year.
  22. I agree. We STILL have a cheap young core of players with a lot of potential (Lucroy, Escobar, McGehee, Gamel, Gomez, Cain, Stetter, Braddock, etc). I think if you trade the guys that are about to get expensive and are playing decently (Fielder, Hart, Villanueva, Coffey, Parra), you should be able to net some quality AAA pitching that can contribute starting next year.
  23. I also hope they trade him at the deadline for some young pitching. I also want to know why he all of a sudden is such a terrible outfielder this year. He used to be okay, but he's just awful now.
  24. I've been working on making hot wings lately. Let me first say that I was never a wing guy, then tried the "dry" wings at Points East Pub and now I'm trying to recreate their deliciousness. I sometimes try wings elsewhere but they're never as good as Points East, in my opinion. I've made these a few times now and I think I'm onto something. They're definitely not the same as Points East but they're now my 2nd favorite wings. Here's my rub recipe for approximately 24 wings. If you love them really spicy, add some crushed red pepper: 1 T black pepper 1 T garlic powder 1 T cayenne pepper 1 T paprika 1 T brown sugar Let that rub soak into the meat for at least an hour. Then dip the wings in a mix of 6 oz. Frank's Hot Sauce and 3 oz. butter. Grill 10-15 minutes each side. The part I'm still working on is the grilling part. I've found that laying them on the outside of the grill seems to cook them thoroughly without too much char.
