  1. I can't defend Villanueva anymore. He's just not the pitcher he once was. This is going to be a tough loss. I know you're not going to win many games scoring 1 run but this is just very deflating and it really sucks to waste such good starts from Parra (and Suppan) lately.
  2. That's what I figured. I hope somehow Manny has now turned it around, but I'm going to remain skeptical for another outing or 2.
  3. Cory Provus mentioned Rolen has a 25 game hitting streak but did not play today. Does this mean anything? Maybe a trade? Seems like if a Halladay deal happens it wouldn't happen til the end of the month.
  4. I'm not really arguing against anything else you've said on this topic, TheCrew, but saying that this hypothetical lineup "would be as solid top to bottom as we've ever had" is absolutely ridiculous. We have no idea how most of those guys are going to perform in the major leagues, that is why they're just prospects. ESPECIALLY the guys that aren't even on the AAA team yet.
  5. Now that I know we have him for 2010 AND 2011 - I say keep him. There would be a BIG hole in the middle of our lineup without him there.
  6. Didn't he have a period last year where he was very successful? Maybe it's the desperation I'm feeling after watching our starting pitching this year... but I'd love to give the guy another chance.
  7. This is something I'm very happy to be wrong about. Now we just need to magically attain some pitching.
  8. I think we COULD win the wild card even with our shambles of a rotation if a few things swung in our favor... but I wouldn't count on it. The problem is I don't see how we're going to get a top notch starter without giving up a lot of our farm system... and I don't really want to get rid of Escobar or Gamel. I also think signing Prince to anything beyond a 2 or 3 year extension would be a huge mistake... and I don't see why he would do that rather than just wait til after next season and then sign a huge 6 year deal with the Red Sox. If Hardy isn't willing to move to 2B or 3B, I believe they'll let him walk after the 2010 season. I think they'll probably let Weeks walk as well unless we are able to sign him to a relatively cheap deal. I think we'll have someone ready to play 2B for us by the time Weeks is gone... but I'm not sure where we're going to find a 1B from. Gamel and Escobar will be starting on the left side of the infield. As far as the outfield goes, we have Braun and probably Lorenzo Cain. I'm sure another outfielder (much like the 2B situation) will fall into place by the time we need one. The outfield doesn't concern me much. I basically think we're going to need to find a future 1B and pitching over the next few years. Especially pitching... I'm really not sure where it's going to come from. It seems like we are jinxed as far as bringing through pitching prospects and the ones we do have aren't going to be ready for the majors until several years from now. Bottom line... keep Gamel and Escobar but trade whatever other prospects you have to try and get some pitching on this team. As soon as possible.
  9. Bill Hall isn't being sent to the minors. This team's plate discipline, defense, and bullpen are very improved and are helping them win a lot of games they wouldn't have won in the past, I think.
  10. You don't believe Escobar, Jeffress, and another 1-2 lower level pitching prospects for Peavy would be accepted by the Padres? I think they would take that. It's more a matter of whether or not the Brewers want to lose all their good pitching prospects for him. I'm not certain they have any good pitching prospects anyways.
  11. I'll be there Saturday night up in the cheap seats. My band is playing Friday night at Memory Lanes (11 PM) if anyone wants to do some bowling after the game. The show is free, the bowling is not.
  12. If he only has one pitch... I don't see him starting. But he's been great so far. I'm pretty happy with the whole bullpen except for McClung and Julio.
  13. Like many posts I see in this forum... I do not understand why the other team would make that trade.
  14. My band is playing some shows in the Twin Cities and we're hitting the Saturday game of the Twins/Brewers game during Memorial Day weekend. Anyone know of any hidden gem hotels? We don't need any luxuries... we really just need some clean beds that are preferably close to the action in the city. Price and location are key.
  15. In order of awesomeness: 1. Kopp's 2. Mazo's (Off 27th and Oklahoma) 3. Soberlman's I'm not a big burger guy in general but I LOVE those three places/burgers.
  16. I live right in the heart of the east side of Milwaukee and U-Verse isn't available to me yet according to their website. Rats. I also called Time Warner and they were able to knock $5 off my bill (big deal). I'll continue looking for options... thank you to everyone that gave me some information, I appreciate it. It just infuriates me that I have to pay $75 per month for cable when I barely watch it at all other than Brewer games. Maybe I'll give it up completely once the season is over and just get an HD tuner to get local HD channels.
  17. I just have one TV and need one box set up. And yeah money is pretty much the main issue. I would like HD Brewer games.... but that's the only thing I absolutely need. I will have to look into AT&T I think. I am in an apartment so a dish it not an option for me.
  18. I guess my promotion-period has ended and now Time Warner is charging me $80 for my cable set up alone. $20 for Roadrunner Lite. So $100 total. I really can't afford to pay that much for cable TV right now. Is there anything cheaper out there or is this how it is for digital cable now? I really don't know if I can justify the expense. Does anyone have any recommendations? I have a nice TV and would prefer to have digital cable because I want to take advantage of my HD capabilities.
  19. I'd like to see: 1 Hoffman 2 Villanueva 3 McClung 4 Riske 5 Coffey 6 Gagne 7 Stetter
  20. what happened to this guy? why doesn't anyone want him anymore? if i remember correctly he was a REALLY solid closer for the Cards for many many years up until very recently. I missed something.
  21. I believe Escobar with another couple of prospects could get this done but even if Peavy approved a trade to Milwaukee... I don't think we can afford him this year.
  22. I want to get some tee shirts made for my band sometime in the next few months. Not a huge run... I probably want to make between 50 and 100 of one particular design. Anyone have any recommendations for tee shirt printers in southeast Wisconsin? I'm looking for great shirt quality at a reasonable price, just like anyone else.
  23. i'm truly happy to hear that you're okay. you had a great attitude about it and i hope you stay healthy in the future.
  24. What's the point of overpaying a guy to pitch the 9th inning if we're not even going to be winning in the 9th inning that often? I just think that paying for a closer first and then taking care of the rest is putting the cart ahead of the horse. I would rather address all other starting lineup and rotation concerns before finding a closer, but that's just me.
  25. sorry if this was mentioned already (i didn't read this entire thread), but this trade is now posted on brewers.com as likely to happen. so i assume since it's on the brewer's website, it definitely is going down (if anyone had any doubts)
