  1. Well there's still hope that nobody will claim Pena. They'd have to clear a 40 man spot for him, so we might be able to stash him in AAA.
  2. Just an idea that I'm sure has been thought of, but would be super awesome. Instead of having to refresh the page everytime to see a new post, the page would update dynamically and update the user in real time fashion everytime there is a new post in the forum that you are in. That would be so cool because I find myself hitting the refresh button hundreds of times per day. It would probably take some type of flash technology that is used on MLB Gameday or something similar. I haven't seen many forums like this, but this has to be the future of Message Boards. Just some food for thought. On a side note, it would be rather entertaining to get real time notifications of a thread that contains a new signing or trade that was pretty significant.
  3. Kind of neat. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/39501222.html
  4. Mike Lamb also has some OF experience and Bill Hall has played a few games out there. Morlan or Swindle's release could also create a spot.
  5. Since they already have Corporan and Salome all set for AAA, I tend to agree that Rottinos time on the 40 man is limited.
  6. We have Trot Nixon and Chris Duffy signed to Minor League Deals. We could always add one of them.
  7. You seem to be in the minority. I'll go with 86-76
  8. This must be a vote of confidence for Omar Aguilar. I suppose a little more AAA starting pitching depth wouldn't hurt, but I didn't think Luis Pena was that low on the Brewers totem pole. Why not DFA Gwynn? It's only a matter of time before it happens anyways.
  9. Is anyone else doing this? I'm having a good time. You can pick games from all kinds of sports and the object is to get a streak of 27 in a row. That gets you one million dollars. My streak is at 4 right now after Oklahoma beat Baylor, but I'm 17-17 overall.
  10. Argentina 2, France 0.
  11. If you think about it, Billy Beane was wrong about a lot of things in that book. I don't remember Jeremy Brown ever doing much in the Big Leagues. Nick Swisher wasn't the all star Beane thought he would be. They make fun of the Brewers for taking Prince Fielder. What a bust, there. Beane has a method to his madness, but in hindsight, some of his moves were questionable.
  12. I think in season 2, the cabinet voted Palmer as "mentally insufficient" to be president so the VP took over for a very short time. Of course, Palmer's plan of action proved to be the best one after the dust settled.
  13. The lawn seats are cheap, but you have to sit on grass on a hill, which doesn't seem that comfortable. Tickets are cheap so I usually go with behind the plate or by the dugout. It's easier to get autographs if you get seats by the Brewers dugout. I wouldn't worry about getting tickets in advance because the games rarely sell out and sometimes people just give them away by the door.
  14. In other news, the sky is still blue. I hope the Astros have a backup plan for SS this year.
  15. You mean Kangas Khan? SIEVE!!!!!
  16. I wonder if Steve Phillips will play himself.
  17. Just out of curiousity, do people prefer Head to Head points, Head to Head Categories, or Rotisserie?
  18. The game is next weekend after a bye this weekend, but it looks like Friday's game is on WPT which means it might be on Time Warner Sports, and Saturday's game will be on FSN.
  19. Where is the game? Usually the winner is the home team in that matchup. Not to mention that breathing is a challenge at Aztec Stadium.
  20. I started a league on ESPN so if anyone is interested, PM me your email, and I'll send you an invite. I made it a head to head points league, but we can change that if there is a different preference.
  21. At least I don't have to worry about my girlfriend leaving me for Cappy anymore. She has a huge crush on him.
  22. I don't think people realize how lucky Bush got last year. His K rate declined and his walks went up but somehow his ERA went down so people think he was a better pitcher. Bush is the pitcher I'm most afraid of going into 2009 because the thing with luck is that it runs out. If you don't believe me, check out this article: http://fantasynews.cbsspo...sybaseball/story/11263536 Bush posted his lowest ERA since his rookie year, despite a career-worst 2.3 K/BB ratio and 1.4 HR/9 rate. His success just might have had something to do with less than a quarter of his balls in play falling in for base hits. An almost certain regression of Bush's BABIP towards .300 means you can't count on another low 4.00s ERA, all things being equal. Worse yet, all things aren't equal, as a dramatic drop in K/BB combined with a rising flyball rate would foretell an ERA spike in '09, even without the expected BABIP increase.
  23. Agreed. I would treat McClung like a starter in Spring Training as well by stretching his arm out accordingly. I'd hide Wright in the minors as well as a nice insurance policy. We sure are looking a lot better than we were 2 weeks ago in starting pitching. Having 7 available starting pitchers is a necessity in today's game.
  24. We have to keep McClung as insurance for an injury. It would be silly to cut him out of Spring Training unless he stinks up the joint. I'd keep him on as a long reliever just for the sole fact that he's our emergency starter.
