  1. Holy smokes! That would be one hell of a haul for the Pirates. Yeah, then we could play against those players for the next decade, long after Ramirez has flown the Milwaukee coup...
  2. Screw that crap. The day we trade with the Yankees and include any money is the day that baseball dies...
  3. 3 innings? I think you mean 3 batters...
  4. So you would sign McCutchen as a DH? I would not be on board with this in any way.
  5. I'd be fine with one of Lauer/Houser going for a bat, but only if the bat is actually better than what we currently have.
  6. Ashby and Small need to stay...........................please?
  7. As of today, I'd assume our 1B / DH combo will be Vogelbomb and Rowdy. Is Taylor our starting RF, with JBJ on the bench. (every time I think of the wasted 12 million we will be throwing down the drain for JBJ, it makes me sick) C Narvaez 1B / DH Vogelbach / Rowdy 2B Wong SS Adames 3B Urias LF Yelich CF Cain RF Taylor That looks like our starting line up on this day. That OF is pretty sad if Yelich doesn't get back on the stick. Cain will play what, maybe 80 games? Taylor, though I love him, can be upgraded. 1B can always use an upgrade, and if we do, one of Rowdy and Vogelbach just has to go. (Keep Rowdy imo) I do think Urias has the 3B job unless we get a really BIG bat at the position somehow. I just don't see that offense being any better than this year, so some changes have to be made, and our overpriced OF makes it pretty difficult. *sigh* Sure would like to get Yelich and his noodle arm out of the outfield at some point...
  8. Castellanos and Martinez sure they could be out of the Brewers price range but McCutchen won't be. This was McCutchen's slash line: .222/.334/.444. I just don't see many teams lining up to give McCutchen anything more than a 1-year prove it veteran deal. So something under $10m a season. McCutchen's defense has also taken a nose dive so not much there in terms of value. What does McCutchen have to offer that Tyrone Taylor doesn't? No way I sign old man McCutchen.
  9. https://wisportsheroics.com/brewers-4-quick-takeaways-from-david-stearns-end-of-season-presser/?fbclid=IwAR0L2A3kHV-bVSPCotX2eSRF4F_6a2sRG078JE_R9euBQ7--sjVQEE3sZpQ
  10. Saw it last weekend. It felt mostly like fanservice. Standing on its own, it was a pretty weak movie. Standing on it's own? It wasn't meant to stand on it's own, it's a prequal to one of the greatest tv shows of all time. If someone goes to the movie having never seen the tv show, or been a fan of the tv show, then yes, I can understand why they wouldn't think it was very good. This longtime Sopranos fan thinks the the movie was awesome! Looking forward to the next one...
  11. I'm confident you're going to be very wrong with that post. Just curious, what about his last two seasons leads you to believe he will be wrong? I think there is a 50/50 shot he is correct, sadly...
  12. I'm rooting for the lesser of all evils that remain. Go Braves! (except Pearl Necklace boy)
  13. I'd hate to see us get fleeced in a Mets trade with Stearns knowing he will be there in 2023. That would be pretty classless on his part, but if he knows he is going to leave, and has an idea where he might be going, what is to stop him from making a deal with a team that would benefit him in the future when he goes to that team?
  14. We will have to agree to disagree then I guess...
  15. Go all in on Freeman or Bryant... I can dream can't I?
  16. I'd like to keep Ashby as a starter, ease Small into a bullpen role like they have done with others in the past, and hive him as a starter as well by 2023. I would not be against trading one of Lauer or Houser for a bat while their value is semi-high, of course, that would mean other teams would value them as much as we do. I just have a hard time dealing from out current starter supply. Going into next season with our starting rotation in tact is a great feeling! 2022 starting Rotation: 1. Burnes 2. Woodruff 3. Peralta 4. Ashby 5. Houser/Lauer With Small taking over a bullpen role, and becoming a fulltime starter in 2023 or 2024 at the latest. I mean, that is just sick!
  17. Please list those "several" players that you would trust with closing duties...
  18. LOCK this DOWN...
  19. Are they really doing that? I hope not. It's time to let 1982 go. Of course they are, and there will probably be another 10 bobbleheads as well..
  20. God I would hate rooting for that tool...
  21. thats fine and I don't anticipate Stearns getting permission. BUT you can't have a club president in a lame duck situation. There would be no need to build for the future, since you aren't part of it. If the mets want him, they can hire an interim for a year and steal Stearns next winter. Mark A needs to see if he will commit to being here. We SOOOOO need a like button on this site.
  22. I'd like to go on record and say that I would not trade any of our big 3, and I'd even add Ashby and Small to that group...
  23. I think we see a Stearns extension or he leaves in the offseason... I agree, time for Mark A. to have the talk with him and see where his heart lies.
  24. I understand the thought process here, but if the Brewers are in a playoff chase at the trade deadline and they trade Hader, out stud closer, that will be a shocking development. no way a contending team trades away the best closer in baseball at the deadline if they are still competing for a playoff spot.
  25. The point is there is not infinite gobs of money to throw around. You only get so many bites at the free agency apple unless you are a team like the Dodgers or Yankees. So when you sign players to big free agent deals, you are taking a huge risk that they will continue to perform at the same level that earned them that deal to begin with. Yelich is a prime example of this. They signed him to a huge extension, and his performance has tanked ever since. That's the risk. They've signed guys like Garcia, Wong and JBJ to what wouldn't be classified as huge deals, but large enough deals that they make an impact on the team's financial flexibility, and those contracts have varied from being downright bad so far (JBJ) to partially working out (Garcia bad in 2020, better in 2021, but non-existent in the playoffs), to mostly working out (Wong was very good in the regular season, but somewhat disappeared in the playoffs). Sure, we could sign Kris Bryant to a huge multi-year offer, but you really don't know if you are getting the MVP level Bryant of a few years ago and what he did pre-trade, or the injured, terrible version we saw in 2020. If you get the bad version, it's a sunk cost that is nearly impossible to fix. That doesn't mean that it is prudent to live in fear and sit on your hands in free agency. But just that there is plenty of inherent risk in free agency that simply is more complex than just throwing gobs of money at to fix. The JBJ deal never really made sense to me. I almost feel like it was a rebound after missing out on Justin Turner. Totally! That is exactly how it felt. Turner gone, lets spend a certain amount of money on another guy so we can say we did it... JBJ was a total reactionary signing to offset the fact we lost out on Turner.
