  1. I'd love Smith, Davis has been underwhelming so far.
  2. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30861180/4-million-extra-bobbleheads-2020-lost-mlb-giveaways-jackpot-fans?fbclid=IwAR007PLWbg010j6OrVC9hB4-bumebdYKctseqEH30CD3AccloknduW7e4Bk
  3. I take the silence and lack of move being made on Turner to mean the Dodgers are scrambling to figure out a way to keep him. That could be scrambling on final contact numbers, roster moves, whatever, but I fully expect him to be a Dodger and we will be left with whatever we have patched together to this point.
  4. Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the Mets have agreed to sign infielder/outfielder Jonathan Villar. Heyman writes that the deal is worth $3.55 million and carries additional incentives. Villar was linked to the Reds in recent days, but the Mets swooped in with a major league deal. He's expected to serve in a super utility role for New York. The 29-year-old switch-hitter batted just .232/.301/.292 over 207 plate appearances between the Marlins and Blue Jays last season, but he has experience between the infield and outfield with proven base-stealing ability. It will be interesting to see if he sees part-time at-bats at second base, with Jeff McNeil seeing some time over J.D. Davis at third against right-handers. 5. The commercial breaks have become unbarerable.
  6. According to Eno Sarris and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, MLB is making changes to the baseball for the 2021 season which will reduce offense. Big news. In addition, five unidentified teams are adding humidors for storage of baseballs, bringing the total to 10 (the Rockies, Red Sox, Diamondbacks, Mets, and Mariners already use them) across the league. The Athletic obtained a memo which was sent to teams last Friday detailing the minor changes. The ball produced by Rawlings will be slightly less bouncy, but the overarching goal of these changes seem to be one of consistency. While this is being pitched as slight alterations, there will surely be some unintended consequences we can't possibly account for right now. Player evaluation was already going to be tough after the shortened 2020 campaign, but this makes it even more difficult. SOURCE: The Athletic Feb 8, 2021, 2:04 PM ET
  7. lol true, all true...
  8. Turner really changes that line-up... We can dream I guess.
  9. I agree with this. If we aren't going to spend the $ it takes for a real offensive DH, then having the DH just hurts us in the end. If we plan to have a guy like Vogelbach or Choo to hit DH for us, we are already starting out behind most other teams. The game is broken.
  10. right, then he shouldn't be marketed as a 1B... The original post makes it sound like that would be the intent of the Brewers, having him at 1B.
  11. If we have to hit Garcia at clean-up, that doesn't lengthen anything... That line-up just doesn't look good on paper imo. Anytime you have to hit your 3B (typically an offenive position) 8 or 9, something wasn't done to make your team better. If we open the season like this, with those players, it could be a long year. Also, you have a DH in those line-ups, are you aware of something the rest of us are not?
  12. I would think that if they sign Choo, Braun is a goner...
  13. Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos told reporters that Marcell Ozuna will be the team’s everyday left fielder this season. Anthopoulos also said that the reunion with Ozuna came together in one day. With spring training less than two weeks away, and zero indication that the National League teams will have a designated hitter this season, Ozuna will be forced to occupy a corner outfield spot in Atlanta. The 30-year-old slugger agreed to a four-year, $65 million deal to remain with the Braves earlier this week after posting a robust .338/.431/.636 triple-slash line with 18 homers across 267 plate appearances last season. He's a certifiable offensive force, but has struggled defensively, appearing in the outfield just 20 times last season, and grading out as one of the worst defenders in the entire game from an advanced metrics standpoint. He’d benefit tremendously if MLB elects to implement a universal designated hitter this spring. Feb 6, 2021, 12:32 PM ET
  14. That ranks up there with the ball bouncing off Canseco's head... Good stuff.
  15. security heading into retirement...lol If these guys aren't already secure going into retirement, they are sad sad human beings...
  16. As much as it would suck, I 100% agree...
  17. For that cheap, absolutely... This kind of makes me sad.
  18. ...and the sad thing is, it isn't going to be fixed. ever.
  19. As usual, the rich get richer. That rotation is just plain sick.
  20. or Ramirez...
  21. So the original 10K don't need proof of vaccination?
  22. What if people like me bought a 4 pack already? Do we just get tossed aside? *nervous laugh* I get what you are saying though, people with the most investment in the team should get first dibs...
  23. I'm not going to buy the fact Hiura will be fine at 1B until I see it for myself. I sure hope he is, but if he struggles there and can't be trusted, that means he has probably lost some games for us due to errors. Randomly moving guys around to different positions seems to happen with the Brewers more than any other team. (no evidence of that, but it sure seems like it)
  24. Robert Murray of FanSided reports the Brewers are still interested in signing free agent third baseman Justin Turner. There seemed to be a thought that the Brewers would be out on Turner after they signed Kolten Wong, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Murray does not think that the Dodgers are still favorites to land the right-handed hitting infielder, but there's at least some competition. Turner was good in 2020 with a .307/.400/.460 line in 175 plate appearances, and he'd certainly help lengthen the Brewers' - or any other club's - lineup.
