  1. Actually it could have...because when I gave that example, it was merely an example based on AAV and not years or anything else. I was assuming it would take about $30 million per year..Stras's contract is about $35 million per year..So I was in the ballpark..and actually when you consider his contract is really 7/165 with 80 million deferred..That's actually only 23.5 million per year. Doable for the Brewers. I think this part of your post should have been in blue. Really bright, neon blue! Doable for the Brewers.
  2. gross.
  3. I think I read that they would only be signing one or the other, and not spending on both.
  4. sadly, this is probably true.
  5. This. If it were a 2 year deal, I'd be fine with it, but it would be hard to root for the guy...(well, I'm sure that would take care of itself if he was successful.)
  6. BIG no on trading Ethan Small for a 2 year rental. I view Small as a future #2 possibly #1, and trading him would be a big mistake.
  7. warranted Chris Archer hate, so if there is any hate, it is well deserved.
  8. The guy I want is 1B Roberto Ramos from the Rockies. He's absolutely mashed throughout his minor league career, but apparently scouts think he's a quad-A player. Didn't they say the same thing about non-prospect Khris Davis who just never stopped hitting? Davis kind of did stop hitting in 2019, though...totally get the concept though. Davis was hurt a LOT during last season. I think he will bounce back just fine.
  9. My guess is that whichever is more impressive in spring training will get a starting spot. (Peralta and Burnes) My gut tells me that Burnes is just too good not to get that spot, and that Peralta has a lot more value coming out of the bullpen.
  10. ...and yet Ted Simmons does not have a full sized bobblehead in a Brewers uniform. I'm hoping they rectify that this season.
  11. To be honest, I don't think it wise to dream on Ryu or Donaldson either. I continue dreaming of Strasburg in our rotation, knowing full well it is a dream... Buit what if?
  12. Bumgarner, Keuchel and Ryu all carry risk, maybe in different forms, but the risk is there. Now, which carries the least risk, that is the question. Bumgarner pitching in Miller Park worries me a bit. I think he is more than likely on the downside of his peak, and then there is the fact that he is just a douche... Keuchel is surely on the downside of his peak, and not nearly reliable as he once was. Ryu, since he has been injured so often in his career, has a lot of mileage left on his arm, but the injury risk is real. If we could get a couple years out of him like his 2019 season, he is the guy I'd want, no question. Can we afford to sign a guy for his cost who then spends too much time on the DL?
  13. As long as he never starts a game (impossible with CC), and never pinch hits. He is only useful as a defensive replacement LATE in games.
  14. Wait, what? Brewers get all those guys plus 10 million for Ray?
  15. If Broxton makes this roster out of training camp, something has gone horribly wrong...
  16. I would think that both Tyrone Taylor and Corey Ray would get a shot at that 5th OF spot before Keon. We know what Keon is (not much), if Taylor and Ray are not traded by then, I'd hope they'd get a look before Broxton.
  17. Ok, so in that scenario, Lindor plays SS, where does Urias play? 3B? I don't think he will put up the kind of offensive numbers we need out of our 3B spot. I also don't think Urias was acquired to play 3B. Adding Turang to this deal makes it a BIG no for me. If trading Hader, we don't need to add anyone to the deal, especially when the player we get back will only be here 2 seasons. 1B ? 2B Hiura SS Lindor 3B Urias
  18. Lets sneak in and grab Strasburg while those teams are bidding on Cole.
  19. agreed. I'd have been inclined to give him 8 million for one season, but not two.
  20. This is the guy I'd make an attempt at signing if the price was reasonable. There is risk, which is going to be the case with all of our bargain basement signings... We are a perfect fit for a guy like this. Greg Bird has elected to become a free agent. Bird was designated for assignment by the Yankees last week and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 27-year-old first baseman carries serious durability concerns, but he's flashed impressive power when healthy and could potentially land with a team that will allow him a path to a regular role in 2020. 21. Had Fingers been healthy enough to pitch in the world series for us, we might have a World Champion banner hanging in Miller Park.
  22. Same, Mancini all the way!
  23. He may be looking at a similar deal to what Moose got. Big contract for sure, but I think I like him for the next 4 seasons more than I like Moose. At some point, defense has to be considered for future signings. can you imagine the IGT threads when we start throwing up 3 errors per game?
  24. 4.7 bWAR in 2018 OPS+ 2016 - 120 2017 - 112 2018 - 128 2019 - 121 Only 27 years old Yeah ... probably not the MVP-level hitter he looked like with the Cubs, but the dude is good. Offensively he's be a perfect for for this team. It would just be a matter of stomaching the defense. ...and paying a really big contract.
