  1. Problem with that logic is if the bullpen is our strength, and you remove 2 of the 3 best ones, yes, that could easily derail an entire season. Especially to a team that uses it's bullpen the way we do. You can't minimize the importance of our bullpen, even if you want to.
  2. You serious bro? Doubt he's serious, but it is annoying. so very true... I cringe and get agitated watching him, but that would all change quickly if he wears the Milwaukee uniform!
  3. NO James Shields
  4. I know we are possibly setting us up for disappointment, but this is exciting!
  5. MLB Network's Jon Heyman hears that the Brewers' talks with free agent closer Craig Kimbrel are "pretty serious." Ken Rosenthal and Robert Murray of The Athletic first mentioned Tuesday that the two sides were talking. Milwaukee had one of the best bullpens in baseball last year and many of those same pitchers are back in 2019, but adding a guy like Kimbrel could only make the group that much more formidable, and it's possible he'll come at a significant discount here in late March. The 30-year-old right-hander earned 42 saves with the Red Sox in 2018 and boasts a 1.91 career ERA. SOURCE: Jon Heyman on Twitter Mar 20, 2019, 1:35 PM
  6. That may be true, and it is, but he can't control what Kimbrel and his guys leak... I still think it is a possibility, but not as much as I thought it was last night. It is just the perfect storm!
  7. According to Ken Rosenthal and Robert Murray of The Athletic, the Brewers are "talking to" free agent closer Craig Kimbrel. Milwaukee already boasts one of the top bullpens in baseball, but Jeremy Jeffress is set to open the 2019 season on the injured list with right shoulder fatigue and really any MLB team could use a reliever of Kimbrel's caliber. The 30-year-old right-hander owns a career 1.91 ERA and he struck out 96 batters over 62 1/3 innings last season for the World Series-champion Red Sox. Recent reports have also tied Kimbrel to the Cubs, Rays, and Nationals. It seems that Boston has truly moved on. Source: Ken Rosenthal on Twitter Mar 19, 2019, 8:39 PM
  8. Or take a one year deal with us for 50 million...
  9. yup, he's a Yankee...……………………..officially.
  10. Didn't we do the same thing with Wang?
  11. I'd rather see him in AAA, stretching out as a normal starter for every 5th day... Get him back into the role he will at some point be playing for us...
  12. Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the Yankees have made a contract offer to Gio Gonzalez, but "there's a gap" between the offer and what Gonzalez is requesting. Heyman notes that while there's "not a great deal of optimism" at the moment, "there’s at least reason to think both sides might want to come together." Unfortunately for Gonzalez, he wouldn't seem to have much of a bargaining position at this point, as the 33-year-old is coming off a down season and hasn't seemed to attract much interest on the free agent market. The Yanks could use a rotation placeholder with Luis Severino (shoulder) and CC Sabathia (heart, knee) slated to begin the year on the injured list, although it's unclear how close Gonzalez is to being game-ready. 13. Beautifully stated. The NFL and myself parted ways 2 seasons ago, partly political (that was the final nail in the coffin), and partly because I could no longer stomach the commercial breaks. Team A scores, commercial break. Team A kicks off to team B, commercial break. ETC. I am no longer willing to give up entire Sundays to watch a sport that no longer holds my interest. (Actually Sundays, Saturdays late in the season, Thursday nights and Monday nights) Football games are just as long, and have just as much nothing time as baseball games. Baseball, for whatever reasons, and there are too many to mention, holds my interest, and I don't mind giving up 3 hours of each day for 6 months to watch. I'm a baseball guy, and for most of my life, I was a football guy too, but that went away... If nothing changes in baseball, I'm still a baseball guy.
  14. If I pay for furniture delivery, I don't/wouldn't tip. If I got free delivery in the price of the furniture, then I'd tip them a $20 or so.
  15. Maybe, but in a 12 team, 6 keeper league, there are no replacements for Kershaw, just downgrades basically. You can hopefully do your homework, and get a guy that no one else knows about to replace him, but all the top pitchers are gone in a high number keeper league. Best pitchers available that no one kept: 1. KERSHAW (mine) 2. SEVERINO (mine) 3. Mikolas (he was also mine, had to turn him loose) 4. Clevinger 5. Flaherty 6. Marquez 7. Morton 8. Chacin 9. Foltynewicz 10. Happ those top 4 will not make it to me with the #12 pick... and I won't burn picks 12 and 13 on anyone else that is left as far as pitchers, so I'll have to scranble and try to fill some offensive holes. Top offensive guys left 1. Story (hard to believe someone tossed him back in the pool) 2. Merrifield (same) 3. Baez 4. Carpenter 5. Cain 6. Springer 7. Segura 8. Brantley top 3 listed will be long gone... The crappy thing about being a successful fantasy manager is that every year, I have to let guys go that are first off the board, and I never get a chance to get them back. It is frustrating. That is the fun of it though too! Tear it down, to build it back up again!
  16. Final decision: Scherzer Sale deGrom Syndergaard Soto Vlad Jr. KILLS me to let Severino and Kershaw back into the draft pool. I grabbed Severino after his first start and kept him. Kershaw has been on my team since his rookie year.
  17. My pessimist guess is that the Cubs get him. Their bullpen is a mess, Morrow and Strop both hurt, if anyone needs a closer, it's the Cubs. Cubs get him...
  18. Chacin Anderson Davies Burnes Woodruff Peralta either to AAA and keep him stretched out as a starter, OR he is our long relief ace.
  19. Easy to root for a $199M payroll team to get beat out by a scrappy $205M payroll team. Yeah, I just don't understand why the Giants winning it all is any better, at all, over the Dodgers...
  20. Ok, I am now leaning towards Vlad over Kershaw. Kershaw seems to be on the downside of his career, where Vlad is completely opposite. Was really hoping for some new news on Severino, but nothing I can find.
  21. as long as we want. no limit.
  22. Severino still not looking good. It seems to be a MAJOR risk to keep the guy. Keeper deadline was extended until tonight at midnight. My plan right now is to keep: 1. Scherzer 2. Sale 3. deGrom 4. Syndergaard 5. Soto Choice is now between Kershaw and Vlad. I am leaning toward Kershaw, anyone care to talk me off the ledge?
  23. Nah, the Giants have enough WS titles, I'd rather see a new team in there if it isn't the Brewers.
  24. Let them sit. Makes no difference to anyone except them.
  25. HA! I've been thinking that for days, and usually, the mods catch and correct this kind of stuff in the thread titles... Glad I'm not the only one this has bothered...
