  1. Regardless of what the media deems important, we are all in for a very rough week...
  2. I've never viewed Greinke as the "mentor" type... Not sure his personality fits.
  3. Word from people there right now, it is pretty bad...Too many people in too small of a space. No organization, sounds like nothing but a big money grab. *sigh*
  4. Reducing the thousands of drunk drivers after every game would be a solid start. Nice theory, but no. Fixed it for you...
  5. What goes a longer way to continue that identity? The team being called the Brewers that has been around for almost 50 years or a stadium being named for a corporate brewery that still has some ties to the community? I understand the traditional aspect of it and I’ll honestly still call it Miller Park for many years (heck, I’ll probably still call it Miller Park when it is eventually torn down). I just think there are many more important traditions around the Brewers and stadium that won’t change even when the name does. Hard to make or keep traditions if the things that were once traditional contiune to change...
  6. I understand that tradition is not an important thing to a lot of our younger fans, but to those of us who have been following the Brewers since the 70's, Tradition is important. I absolutely LOVE AJAY's post above. It bothers me that I will have to refer to the Brewers stadium as anything other than Miller Park, just like it would have bothered me if County Stadium would have had a corporate name added to it back in the day. There is nothing wrong with those of us who want that tradition, and acting like people are crazy for caring is ridiculous. Not being a Packer fan myself, I can only imagine the backlash the Packers would receive if they suddenly added a corporate sponsor to the sacred Lambeau Field. Imagine AmFam Lambeau Field? Yuk. Yes, Miller is a corporation, but the name fit perfectly, and doesn't sound like a corporation. It felt right from the beginning, and is going to feel all wrong being referred to as anything but Miller Park. I just really hate this decision. Will it cause me to not follow the Brewers, of course not, it just feels wrong, disgusting, and bothersome. Sometimes, change is good, but in this case, it really sucks.
  7. They can't even bring themselves to do a Nieves No Hitter bobble, somehing tells me the things you just mentioned are not even a remote possibility...
  8. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Padres are pursuing Manny Machado. Acee says that the Padres were not initially one of the "mystery teams" in on Machado, but they "became players in the pursuit of Machado a week ago when reports surfaced of a price that was far lower than expected." If San Diego were to land the marquee free agent, they plan to play him at third base. Machado is said to prefer playing shortstop, but he figures to wind up with the highest bidder. The White Sox, Phillies and Yankees are the other teams that have been connected to the superstar infielder. Source: San Diego Union-TribuneJan 25 - 2:27 PM
  9. Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports that the Yankees' offer to Manny Machado is "low." Martino isn't sure whether the Yankees have made Machado a formal offer, but it's just semantics, as the infielder is aware of how much the team is willing to pay. Obviously, it's not enough, but neither has any other offer Machado has received. It appears at this point that Machado would have to fall back into the Yankees' laps in order for them to land him, but Martino notes that the club is "in touch" with the free agent and "are not out by any stretch." 10. Other owners know that the Brewers and Twins are not going to happen. Would make more sense for an agent to float out more big market teams. I'm sure the Mets see the Brewers involved in the rumor and they laugh.

  12. Actually, the bobbles are so easy to get these days, I don't go to every bobblehead game any longer. Probably 2 or 3 per season. With 13 given out last year (including the SSH and special events), that isn't very many. You can get them on ebay for dirt cheap, or the facebook bobble pages are great for trades. After 13 last year, I find it hard to believe they will do fewer this year. I liked the idea of the Braun starting line-up figure, the 70's bullpen cart, talking Bob Uecker bottle opener, and Yount Jerseys as SGA items. I'd like to see them do more stuff like that and fewer bobbles. They do too darn many bobbles, and I even collect the stupid things...
  13. Pretty sure contracts have been signed and it's a done deal. No way Miller makes it back into the conversation.
  14. ...or who starts games unnecessarily because the manager can't stop himself from doing so. Perez started like 80 games last year. I don't know how that compares to other super subs but it doesn't seem like much so this might be a bit of hyperbole. Starting 80 games is too much for him... This is why I said what I said.
  15. If anyone gets the free autos at On Deck, the ones on the cards provided by the team, I'm interested in buying or trading for them... I collect them, so am always looking for them, and can't make the event this year.
  16. ...or who starts games unnecessarily because the manager can't stop himself from doing so.
  17. Probably all true, however, does their target audience want a Billy Joel bobblehead? I just think their promo/marketing team is not very creative when it comes to their bobble making decisions.
  18. yeah, just like every other team that has had him perform at their stadium. boring...
  19. It says he had four multi-year offers from the Mets, White Sox, Twins and Angels. No specifics (years or dollars) were given. Maybe he wanted to win, and saw the Brewers as his best shot at doing so...
  20. General awareness of those around you has certainly lessened over the years...
  21. Appleton used to have a pretty good one, but sadly, it's gone. I can't remember the name of it.
  22. If anyone thinks that the naming rights money will go into the players on the field, I think you are sadly mistaken...
