lol Manny's Dad trying to get his boy paid! Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports reports that the Yankees and Dodgers have not made Manny Machado an official contract offer this offseason. Machado's father, Manuel, told Z Deportes that his son has received offers from the Yankees, Dodgers and Phillies and that there's been "a lot of interest" from the White Sox, but Heyman is hearing otherwise. While it doesn't necessarily matter that he hasn't gotten "official" offers from either club, the Dodgers have never seemed likely to re-sign Machado and him landing with the Yankees has been looking less and less likely by the day. For a one season commitment? I disagree.

agreed. been there done that. he is now older, and even less effective.

Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports that the White Sox have discussed a deal with Manny Machado that would allow the team to exercise an option after year three that would trigger club control for an eighth or ninth year. If the White Sox declined to exercise that option, Machado would have the opportunity to opt out of the deal after 2021. It's a similar contract stipulation that Yusei Kikuchi and Zach Britton agreed to, although with Machado it would obviously be on a much larger scale. All three players are clients of Scott Boras, who has referred to the unique contracts as a "swellopt" (meaning it's a "swell" option for both sides). Martino believes that if Machado might be amendable to this type of contract, it's possible the Yankees could jump back into the bidding. Source: SNY.tvJan 18 - 9:38 AM

Yankees signing Ottavino, 3 Years - $27m
TURBO replied to JDBrewCrew's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
The Yankees aren't breaking any rules, I get that, but this is sickening. -
To be honest, I'd like to have rolled with Schoop and see what he had to offer for a full season. I think we gave up on him too quickly.
-
Still way too much...
-
Whose head is that?
-
I hope he is 100% for the 2020 season. In 2019, it seems to me he will be on a pretty strict limit. If he survives 2019, I can see him being a factor in 2020, if all goes right. There is probably a good chance he never comes back to the pitcher he was before that injury. The DH can't get to the NL fast enough as far as I'm concerned.

Over Pina? Only if Pina is traded.

Nate Orf? Nate Orf is still in our system?
-
The obvious question is: Did he cry?

ESPN's Buster Olney says the White Sox's offer to Manny Machado is $175 million for seven years. He's not the first to say this, but it lends some weight to the previous reports. Obviously, Machado is worth more than $25 million per year, but that doesn't much matter unless someone else steps up. The Phillies and Yankees are his other known suitors at the moment. You'd have to think that other teams would jump into the mix if Machado's market craters to the point where he is seriously considering this White Sox offer. The 26-year-old was said to be seeking a 10-year deal worth more than $300 million at the outset of the offseason. Source: Buster Olney on TwitterJan 16 - 12:24 PM GOOD! I hope he gets a lot less than he and his agent expected...

I saw a Milwaukee band a couple years ago at the Mile of Music here in Appleton. They were so good live, I bought their cd. Played it non-stop for 6 months or so, then they put out a new cd. Got it, and did the same thing with their latest release. I look forward to seeing them every year at the Mile, but last year they didn't participate. Bummed me out. "Whips" is the band and they are tremendous. I often wonder why a band this good can't get a big time record deal, then I realize what I sometimes forget.....Rock and Roll as I knew it growing up is essentially dead. THAT bums me out...

A buddy of mine said the same thing, he sent me his albums digitally, I downloaded them but haven't listened yet. He also is not a country guy at all, and neither am I, but for whatever reason, Stapleton hit a chord with him.

Do we have an idea about the 2019 AAA rotation

Not exactly sure why we are still messing around with Wilkerson... -
Manny Pina drawing trade interest
TURBO replied to adambr2's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
100% agree with this. As has been mentioned previously, the only way I'd want to trade him is if we got an offer that we simply could not refuse. It's nice knowing that if Grandal goes down, we have a pretty darn decent guy for back-up. No way do I want to go into the season with Kratz as the scheduled platoon/back up. With Manny backing up, we have no reason to worry about the catcher position in 2019. -
Just some news on him, nothing more... Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Curtis Granderson fully intends to continue his playing career in 2019. There have been some whispers about retirement over the past couple of years, but Granderson isn't ready to walk away just yet. However, like many free agents around the game, he's still waiting for the right offer. Granderson turns 38 in March and batted .241/.351/.431 with 13 home runs over 403 plate appearances between the Blue Jays and Brewers in 2018. He could make for a useful left-handed bat for someone, most likely in a bench role. Source: Ken Rosenthal on TwitterJan 15 - 3:22 PM

pretty sure that was in jest...
-
Pretty much my thoughts, and I think calling someone less of a fan because they think Machado’s talent on the team would be good is pretty stupid. Did someone call someone less of a fan based on wanting Machado? I missed that...
-
Difference of opinion, simple as that. I'd rather win a WS with guys I like, guys I want to root for, over idiot punks like Machado.

All these mentions of Dubon has me shaking my head in wonder... I don't get the love for this guy.

What do you think this Brewers license plate means?
TURBO replied to hawing's topic in Off-Topic Forum
Kind of on the subject, but how much does it cost to get the Brewers plates, and personalized? I know the cost is higher the first year, but do you have to pay a higher cost each year after, or is that just an initial cost? -
Machado = Punk. Could he help us win, yes. Could I live with myself rooting for him, NO. I'm with rickh150 and Joey Meyer Bombs. No thank you.

That's awesome! The feeling of relief when I got mine paid off was incredible. I was fortunate enough to get some of mine paid off for working in a low income school, so that helped. I also paid of my credit card debt from college and that felt amazing too. Only debt I have is my house. We paid off our house last year. Talk about an amazing feeling... Paying on something for 25 years, then all of a sudden, NOT paying, is an incredible feeling!
