  1. The Cards going fior the out at third saved the Windmill from sure criticism, s it looked like Jesus was dead meat.
  2. Or a wild pitch. Better yet, a passed ball. YES, pin it on Yadi neck tat...
  3. At least we don't have to look at Brault's terrible tat job, however, I wouldn't mind facing him in this situation...
  4. You know what's funny. If he puts in Cedeno and Cedono gives up the hit (like Jennings did so many times) a chunk of posters would be ripping it saying Peralta was rolling well, why not just let him go. Of course not saying the same folks would've said it, but CC can't win with everybody unless he learns how to magically predict which reliever is gonna give up hits on a given day I disagree. Based on how the game was started, it would have made total sense to stick with it, and not allow Carp to face a righty. For whatever reason, that plan was abandoned, and the decision made failed. Had Peralta gotten him out, you may be right, no one would have said a thing, but he didn't, and this is what we have.
  5. Bringing in Cedano to face Carpenter would have made sense based on the way the game was started. I doubt anyone would have disagreed with the decision, regardless of the result. It would have made sense, given the exact situation at that time. Carpenter at bat, man on base, you bring in the lefty in a 1-0 game. So now, he brings in a lefty to face Carpenter. Williams really needed to get Flaherty right there. Geez.
  6. ha ha, yes, all true... but at least there is always a chance he goes yard with a guy on.
  7. I can't speak for the rest of y'all, but I would have said it was the right thing to do with a man on... Worry about later, later.
  8. This would have been a good time to use Thames actually. Vs a righty, HR gives you a 2 run lead, strike out lets you start at the top of the order next inning. Why use Thames with no one on later. This was the perfect time.
  9. Nice at bat Orlando! Why was Freddy even on deck, was he actually going to throw another inning? Interesting approach tonight, in many ways.
  10. If you are doing a bullpen game, you do a bullpen game. Not a Freddy Peralta start disguised as a bullpen game because you tossed your disposable lefty in there for the first hitter. Counsell has had some great games playing matchups this year. This one was a miss though. If you're doing a bullpen game, you don't have to bring in a new guy every inning. And as of this posting, reliever #2 has gone 3 and 2/3rds allowing 1 run. At least put the pitchforks away until something worth crucifying the manager happens. Except it wouldn't have been every inning, it would have been to face a lefty named Carpenter, who we were not going to allow to beat us.
  11. Actually, I was on baord, especially after it worked on Carp's first at bat. I was thinking this is great! It just seems there is always a new way that things go wrong, when they shouldn't. CC had it going on, then BLAMO, not so much.
  12. Use one when he is up with a guy on though, as opposed to no one on base.
  13. I at least understood what CC was trying to do initially. But then he had to think on his feet, and failed. He should have stuck with the original plan (or what everyone thought was the original plan) and not allowed Carp to see a righty all game. Ok, it's beating a dead horse, but damn...
  14. Allowing Peralta to face Carp just took the fun out of this. Here I thought we were being innovative, and trying something new. Only to screw it up when it was an obvious situation to make a pitching change, based on the entire point of starting Jennings in the first place.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised if strategy was adjusted because Peralta was locked in for a few hitters. Probably PH him when his spot comes due again. Ok, but why not go with what worked his fisrt time at the plate. Just makes no sense. Carp is probably laughing his rear off, as is the rest of Cardinal nation. It's always something.
  16. Wasn't the entire point of Jennings starting was to not allow Carpentar to face a righty for the entire game? This is the kind of decision making that is maddening when it comes to bullpen management. All the fuss and it ends up not mattering because you can't stick to the game plan? Frustrating.
  17. I wish Jennings had untucked his shirt on his way off the field...Would have been awesome to see everyone associated with the Cardinals heads explode!
  18. What happens if Jennings, like so many times before, doesn't get the lefty (Carp) out?
  19. https://www.foxsports.com/wisconsin/story/milwaukee-brewers-christian-yelich-named-nl-player-of-the-week-for-third-time-092418 He's the only player to win the award three times this season! This ought to help in the MVP chase!
  20. Yelich just named NL player of the week! Perfect timing to get an award like this when the MVP is on the line. Hopefully he backs it up with another great week and this discussion can be put to bed!
  21. Haven't seen this mentioned anyplace, thought I'd mention it here. Christian Yelich (elbow) will be re-evaluated on Monday. Yelich was removed from the eighth inning of Sunday's win over the Pirates after being hit by pitch on his right elbow. Yelich remained in the game to run the bases, and even swiped second base, but was replaced the next half inning defensively. He's considered day-to-day. Source: MLB.comSep 24 - 12:28 AM
