  1. He's a great kid too, talked to him a few times in Appleton, I wish him nothing but the best.
  2. First thing I'd do is take away Harrison, Diaz and Burnes as trade chips for a guy like Yelich. He is not a WOW player I'd mortgage my blue chip guys for. We have a ton of OFers, that is where I'd focus, trading an OFer or 2. I do not think that we should be trading our best arms either, small market teams with $ issues shouldn't be trying to trade our best pitching prospects for position players, pitching is just too damn valuable, and hard to come by for a team like the Brewers to unload.
  3. Something no one has brought up yet, I feel REALLY bad for anyone that we ship off to that crapshow in Miami. I find it hard to believe anyone wants to play for that organization, knowing that they may have a firesale at any moment, any year, and at any time. I'm pretty sure that our prospects are hoping and praying they are not the ones involved in any deal with the Marlins.
  4. Probably because even though people threaten to leave the vast majority don't. That's why I haven't tried that tactic yet. I won't leave. But when a customer actually makes the phone call to leave them, isn't that a good time for them to come down a little? I understand that the threats probably rarely followed through, but when someone calls to cancel, they should then save the money and hassle and work with the customer. All I have gotten from them the past couple of years is hardball, refusing to give me my old price, and it really angers me.
  5. If that means we pay less in prospects, I'm all for it!
  6. Wonderful. Why don't we plan on that sustained success 3-4 years out with our own prospects? 86 wins with a ton of guys performing to levels that probably aren't sustainable and we suddenly want to push all-in and give up our prospects for Yelich, Archer, whoever the hell else and hope we can overtake the Cubs or maybe win a one game playoff? It's insane to me. I'm on board with you trwi7, I want to sustain our rebuild until we are actually rebuilt, not abandon the plan all together because we "almost" made the playoffs last year.
  7. Man, this scares the crap out of me. Scary to think what prospects we will be forced to give up in a deal for Yelich. I am really hoping that Harrison, Hiura, Diaz, Erceg, Gatewood, Peralta, and Burnes are not involved in any way.
  8. Cobb or Lynn are not difference makers imo. They are not the type of pitchers that push us into the playoffs. To be honest, I'm happy to sit on our farm one more year, see where things lead, and stay the course of the re-build.
  9. Broxton, right?
  10. I just thank the lord that no one here is David Sterns.
  11. Hiura is coming quick so one of those guys is expendable. Diaz is NOT a throw in player, he is one of our blue chip guys, who should bring back a heck of a lot more than we are hoping for. I don't trade him at all unless we are getting a TOR pitcher in return. Hiura is no sure thing, not even close, so having some depth at a position where we typically have none is comforting. Diaz is tossed around this board like he is nothing, I don't get it.
  12. I'd go Brinson, Burns, I. Diaz, Peralta, and Pennington and not feel like the farm was emptied.
  13. Why on earth does every made up offer on these boards always includes Isan Diaz? Geez, it's maddening.
  14. im not sure Gimenez is an Opening day backup. Im guessing he was brought in to help the Cubs Catcher and show him what Darvish Likes during Spring. But likely not added to the Cubs 25man. We shall see...
  15. Sadly, this is probably accurate. It was fun while it seemed there may be a chance, even a small chance, that we could land him, but I think we were used as a pawn until he got the big offer he wanted.
  16. If true, that is what I expected all along, especially once the Cubs signed Darvish's personal catcher to back up Castillo yesterday. It all made too much sense not to happen... Damn it!
  17. Agreed, I would love to add Lynn. Anderson Lynn Davies Chacin Woodruff I just don't think that is a World Series type of rotation, or possibly not even a "make it to the wildcard type of rotation." Without a true TOR type guy, our chances are slim with that exact rotation in place.
  18. To be honest, sitting on Santana, Brinson and Phillips until the trade deadline or next season doesn't bother me one bit.
  19. Craig Mish of SiriusXM reports that the Brewers have put together a trade offer for Marlins outfielder Christian Yelich. There's a long list of teams in the mix for Yelich, but Mish hears that the Brewers have shown "strong interest" as they look to improve upon their surprise 2017 season. And with a strong farm system, they also have the sort of prospects required to get a deal done. Yelich's contract (four years and $43.25 million) makes him an attractive option for both small and large-market teams. Nothing appears to be imminent, but the Brewers could be a legitimate suitor. 20. No way, not a chance, if that happens, I quit.
  21. There goes any chance of getting the BRAT bobblehead to complete the 2nd full sized series. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  22. Yup, and won't they just love to stick it to us like that?
  23. I just feel like a minor league deal doesn't change anything, not even a little bit. Cubs could easily sign Darvish and cut this catcher the next day. Maybe the Cubs make a play for him, I doubt this signing moves the needle though. Or the Cubs could agree to keep him on so that darvish signs, then actually follow through on their promise to keep Darvish happy. Again, not saying this will be the reason darvish signs with the Cubs, but it could be a factor, no matter how slight...
  24. That could be the end of any chance we have of landing Darvish. Too perfect that the freaking Cubs will be the ones to end that dream. Darvish will be making a decision involving potentially tens of millions of dollars between various teams, important clauses in those contract offers, where he'll live the next 4-6 years, how competitive he feels each team will be, etc etc, so i have a hard time believing that who the backup catcher is on the team he signs with will be up there with the other factors. Not saying it would be a deciding factor, but every little thing that can be done to sway a decision can't hurt the Cub's chances. I think this may hold more importance to Darvish than most will acknowledge. Will having this guy ALONE make him go to the Cubs? Probably not, but it might be the nudge that gets a deal done.
