  1. *yes, thumbs up!* Like the Bull Pen Cart, Braun Starting Line-up, Gauntlet and Mayor bobbles...
  2. The issue I have with moving Santana for anything other than a TOR pitcher is the fact that without him, our offense will be less than average. Our offense in the 2nd half last season was horrible, Santana was our lone consistent bright spot. Remove him from that line up and replace him with a question mark, and regardless of our pitching, we will be in trouble. We have pitching options in house. Though it will be almost impossible, I'd move Braun since we can't count on him, and I'd move Broxton if we can find someone to bite. Exhaust all possibilities to move those two before considering trading any of the others. Trading our best offensive threat will do more negative damage than most are aware of.
  3. Geez, why don't you throw in another 6 or 7 guys too. Brinson OR Broxton? That implies they have the same value...
  4. Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports hears that the Mets and Rangers have discussed a Matt Harvey-for-Jurickson Profar swap. Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News speculated on a potential match early Monday morning while Mike Puma of the New York Post reported Monday afternoon that the two sides were talking. It would be the ultimate change-of-scenery deal, as Harvey has seen his career go off course over the past two years due to injury and there's no clear spot for Profar on the Rangers' roster. Heyman notes that there's "nothing firm" between the two sides, but they at least discussed the scenario. Harvey is due to become a free agent after 2018 while Profar still has three years of team control remaining. Source: Jon Heyman on TwitterDec 11 - 3:41 P If Profar is up for grabs, he seems like a decent guy to take a risk on if it doesn't cost us much in prospects.
  5. If we were to get multiple pieces in a trade for Santana, doesn't that just create a HUGE log jam on the 40 man roster in the very near future? We already are going to have issues keeping our players and protecting them, add 4 or 5 others, and we are bound to lose some of our coveted prospects due to not being able to protect them...
  6. I received an offer I could not refuse. I was offered 2 tickets, private suite, free food and drinks, and free parking to tonight's game. Since I've never attended a live Bucks game before, is there any advice anyone has that a guy like me could appreciate? Thanks in advance!
  7. My wife "made" me go see Wonder with her last night, a movie that was not on my to-do list. I have to admit, it was great, entertaining all the way through. Tugs at your heart strings a bunch of times...
  8. ...and so begins the Cy Young transformation of Wily Peralta. Wwait, the Royals signed him, not the Cardinals? Ok, scratch that.
  9. This pretty much sums up opinion on most of the options available via trade. I would prefer to overpay an Arrieta-type and keep the prospects in the system. If Arrieta fails, while you still have the burden of the contract, you still have Ortiz or Burnes or Pennington or Peralta or...that could fill in. This is exactly how I feel. I'd much rather over pay a free agent, then overpay with our prospects in a trade.
  10. I don't view Duffy or Archer as TOR guys, so I wouldn't be interested in trading any of those guys for either of them...
  11. No offense to the OP, but why does every trade scenario that we throw out there have to include Harrison and Burnes?
  12. I highly doubt we were ever a serious consideration. It's nice that we weren't excused immediately, but I just don't think we were taken as a serious contender. *sigh* Man, it would have been exciting to snag this guy.
  13. Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the Yankees are out on Shohei Ohtani. The Yankees had $3.5 million available to give to Ohtani as a bonus, the second largest amount behind the Rangers ($3.55 million), and were viewed as a strong contender. There had been speculation that Ohtani was going to notify clubs before the end of the weekend whether or not they had made the first cut, and perhaps that's what knocked the Yankees out of contention. Source: Jeff Passan on TwitterDec 3 - 6:11 PM Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the Giants and the Mariners are among the finalists for Shohei Ohtani. The Yankees are officially out as Ohtani has started to inform clubs who didn't make the first cut. The two-way superstar will hold meetings with each of the finalists next week before making his final decision. He has informed clubs that he would prefer going to the west coast or to a smaller market. Source: Jeff Passan on TwitterDec 3 - 6:16 PM Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Twins also didn't make it to the final round of the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes. So far, it's just the Giants and the Mariners that are known to have made it to the final round, which will include an interview with Ohtani this week before he makes his final decision. The Yankees were also informed on Sunday that they were out of the running. Source: Jon Heyman on TwitterDec 3 - 6:31 PM Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Mets are no longer in the running for Shohei Ohtani. The Mets join the Yankees, Twins, Pirates, Blue Jays and Athletics who were informed on Sunday that they are no longer in the mix for the Japanese star's services. Source: Joel Sherman on TwitterDec 3 - 6:58 PM Red Sox team president Dave Dombrowski confirmed Sunday that he was informed the Red Sox were out of the running for Shohei Ohtani. The Red Sox had hoped to make a strong presentation to Ohtani and his representatives this week, but they won't be afforded the opportunity. The Mets, Yankees, Twins, Pirates, Blue Jays, Athletics and Brewers have also been told they won't advance to the next round, while the Giants and Mariners have made the list of finalists. The Angels, Dodgers and perhaps the Padres are expected to join them. Source: Ian Browne on TwitterDec 3 - 7:12 PM DAMN DAMN DAMN!
  14. This post had me looking for the "like" button...
  15. Latest: Yankees general manager Brian Cashman confirmed Friday that the club will be aggressive in their pursuit of Shohei Ohtani. Cashman effectively began his sales pitch to Ohtani when he told reporters Friday that "Ohtani represents the next great talent that’s available in baseball and (the New York) stage is made for players like this." The GM added that he thinks Ohtani is a "perfect fit" for the Yankees and that they would let the Japanese star pitch and hit. The $3.5 million the Yankees have available as a signing bonus to spend on Ohtani is the second-largest amount behind the Rangers' $3.55 million, but money will be a secondary consideration here. Ohtani is ultimately going to go where he wants to play and it's no surprise that many have predicted he'll wind up in pinstripes. Source: Pete Caldera on TwitterDec 1 - 9:14 AM
  16. 100% true, and for that reason I can't see him on a small market NL team. My guess is that he ends up on an AL team for that reason alone.
  17. "Prancer" has always been a sentimental family favorite, but "Elf" is right up there, I even like the Elf knockoff "Fred Claus" with Vince Vaughn...
  18. This. We tend to want to pursue ex Brewers when the possibility exists, but most guys who leave the Brewers are gone for good reason. The list goes on and on, and every time an ex Brewer becomes available, there are people that want him back.
  19. I have zero confidence we will be able to count on Nelson this season, in any way... It would be prudent on our part to go into the season with no plans of Nelson being in the rotation. If he comes back, so be it, there are always injuries to others, etc.
  20. For me it is that he is never healthy at the young age that he's at so why should I trust that he'll be healthy during the course of his major league career? I would just rather get something of great value (Yelich) than to roll the dice on a guy that seems to find the DL every few months. This is exactly how I feel... I'd rather get a great piece and take the risk that he becomes a super star for someone else, than risk keeping him so he can never reach his potential due to injuries...
  21. Right, and hopefully Stearns is wise enough to think the same exact thing.
  22. this was a bummer, I hope we get an offer in 2018...
  23. Silly question maybe, but if we claim a guy, does he automatically go on the 40 man?
  24. Either Villar is our every day 2B because we believe he can regain some of that 2016 swagger, or I hope he is gone. I just don't think he holds a lot of value as a super sub, or a guy off the bench. His defense is horrible, so why would we want him entering games in late innings? He is a bad base runner, so how could we consider him a super pinch runner? I see zero value in him if he isn't a starter, with the chance to play every day and improve. I was never quite on board with him to begin with, he had a lot of things go his way in 2016, but the base running was so horrid, I just couldn't see him as anything other than a one year wonder.
