  1. At this point, I'm taking Harrison off the table unless a legit TOR pitcher is coming our way. I'd rather risk it and see what we have in him than give him away and regret it later.
  2. Agreed on both points. Drafting 19th with the associated pool money does not help bring in those 60 grade players. I'm getting really damn sick and tired of reading about people hoping to tank in 2018. Stop thinking like this team lost 100 games last season. The Brewers lost 100 games last season?
  3. My concern is that he goes into the rotation, we stick with him WAY too long, hoping he rights the ship, and we end up wishing we had given up on him a lot sooner than we did. Lots of people saying if he sucks, we get rid of him and lose nothing, but I view the games that he loses for us as a HUGE loss. I hope I am wrong, but this is how I see it happening.
  4. We do all that, are we still going to be able to catch the Cubs now? There are also 2 wildcard spots available Yup, but WC is one and done, way to risky to mortgage the future for a one game sudden death match-up imo. I want to build for the future. A future that we are in place to sustain an actual run deep into the playoffs as division champs.
  5. Cozart is an injury concern himself, constantly nursing something, taking days off...
  6. We do all that, are we still going to be able to catch the Cubs now?
  7. ^ yet his last 2 seasons have been 4+, so the trend is going up, not down... Does a good ERA 5 years ago warrant paying through the nose now? I do not want to trade away the farm for this guy, just don't want to do it...
  8. It's been said a million times before, but the playing field is completely uneven when some teams can go out and buy whoever they want or need, and others simply can't. It's ridiculous.
  9. Personally, I only go to promo games. I look at the promo schedule, decide which promos I want the most (typically bobbles) then I get tickets to those games. Anyone who thinks promo items don't bring in fans is crazy. lol Want to boost Wednesday night attendance, offer up a free bobblehead, attendance will increase, that is a given.
  10. My comment was in response to this comment you made earlier...

  12. I refuse to give the Cardinals credit, this could just be a baseball move, cloaked in class...
  13. Phillips and Brinson could be better than Braun might be a little stretch... When Braun was Braun, he was one of the best in the game, I don't see that as a realistic goal for either player, especially Phillips.
  14. The more the Cubs improve their roster, the more it is becoming apparent that we just will not be competing for the division crown in the upcoming season. This is not meant as a negative post, or me wanting to go out and make ridiculous trades or free agent signings to keep up, just an observation. I prefer to stay the course of our current rebuilding plan, so this is not meant as a complaint.
  15. I feel ya and agree 100%
  16. Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports hears the Marlins "intend to hold onto Christian Yelich." There is a massive fire sale underway in Miami, with Giancarlo Stanton and Marcell Ozuna already out the door, but Yelich is under the Marlins' control through 2021 with a club option for 2022 and they apparently want to try to build around the 26-year-old outfielder. Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area confirms this thought, reporting that the Giants "have repeatedly been told" by the Marlins that Yelich is not available. Source: Jon Heyman on TwitterDec 13 - 2:43 PM
  17. Hard to believe we were not willing to make that offer or better... Damn.
  18. Would love this depending on who the other "pieces" are. Broxton, Villar and Ortiz and I couldn't sign on the dotted line fast enough!
  19. Biloxi did a laughing Phillips last year, maybe they don't want to be redundant?
  20. Archer is going to come with a premium of his own...
  21. Greinke being 34, means we get him in his 38 season? hmmm, that doesn't sound to thrilling...
  22. Looking at Archer's numbers, I still don't see why he is worthy of our #1 prospect, PLUS other top prospects. The guy just doesn't excite me with his ERA going the wrong direction the past 2 years. Yes, he strikes guys out, but he is not a typical TOR pitcher for most teams, maybe for us he'd possibly be OUR best, but I don't care to trade the farm for a guy like him to become our ACE when in all reality, he is not an ACE.
  23. If this meant we'd be out on Arrieta, YES please! However, this would involve sending them some of our top prospects, right? Then I'd have to pass.
  24. I'm REALLY glad you guys are not the GM! Archer is severely over-rated in this thread. No way is he the difference maker type pitcher we should be focusing on with our stud prospects...
