  1. I am REALLY hoping our deal is not with the Mets.
  2. It is kind of eerie. I would have thought Smith and Lucroy were automatics for being gone by now. I'm not upset in the least that Jeffress is still here, but I really wanted to see what Luc and Smith would bring. I love this, and I hate it...
  3. Then you can bet the farm that one of those 3 is where he goes... I believe nothing I read until the deal is official, and now that you posted that, at least I know it is narrowed down to 3 places he will land.
  4. I'm actually hoping it was tonight... Not in a negative way, just hoping a deal gets hashed out before game time tomorrow so we aren't tempted to play him again...
  5. Nah, now is the time to get maximum value...We may not have a bidding war next year, too many things can shake out differently. We know there are teams looking for a catcher NOW, waiting to see what happens next year is as risky as playing Luc this weekend...
  6. Please explain... How does it feel like the Pirates won?
  7. The more I think about it, the more I realize it was the right thing to do. I sometimes get caught up in winning, forgetting winning isn't our main goal this season, and not to get fired up about the win loss record. There was nothing wrong with CC letting him see if he could get it done. I probably over reacted. I stand corrected...
  8. Great move if it works, really dumb move if it backfires...
  9. I like CC, I really do, but it is things like this that make me question his ability to lead a team. Starting Lucroy is/was very risky, but to leave him in the full game is even dumber than starting him. Take him out of there. Leaving Guerra in there, in the 9th with 2 on and no outs is also pretty questionable... I hope Luc is on the bench tomorrow...
  10. It is that easy for your catcher to get hurt, anytime during any game...
  11. Count me in the camp that wants nothing to do with Puig. NOTHING!
  12. Says who? The smart play is to reduce the risk of injury when a trade is almost certainly on the horizon. What he is being paid for those 3 games is of no concern when you are talking about the future of this team. This argument is ridiculous. I'm going to bow out, if you can't see the points being made in this thread, it is a waste of my time to continue to respond.
  13. This is a strawman. Nobody has suggested we sit him the entire month of July. But we're talking three days before the deadline. If he gets hurt you miss out on a potentially franchise changing trade. There is zero reason to risk it right now. But if you insist on playing him why not play him at first base at least? Ok, then why was there >0% reason to risk him starting last week or the week before? We've all known Lucroy would be on the trading block since before the season started, literally nothing has changed. At some point, you have to do what is best for your team, Now is that time. It wouldn't make any sense to sit him as you have suggested, but now it makes perfect sense to sit him and protect our future. I don't see how this is an argument, now is the time to be prudent with the future of this team, and having him take the field is just far too risky. One misplaced foul ball, and any value he had in a trade is gone until next year.
  14. I find this post unreasonable. No team is going to think he is hurt 3 days before the trade deadline when everyone knows he is on the block. If anything, teams will think we are making the smart move, protecting a player that they are interested in. How does that make us seem weak in any way? Will you feel the same way, play him like he is a Brewer, when he gets an injury that knocks him out for 4 or 6 weeks? The risk is just too great.
  15. You can't just sit him the entire month of July. Teams are still just talking. If there was a handshake on a deal he would be pulled. I'm not saying he should sit the entire month of July, but there is probably a 99% chance he is dealt this weekend, sitting him 2 or 3 games is only the smart thing to do just in case...If sitting him is not an option, and it should be, then at least play him at 1B. I don't want to see him on the field at all, but at least 1B has less chance of an injury. The catching position is volatile, and we just can't afford a freak injury in the next couple of days...
  16. Because if he doesn't start, teams will think that he is "hurt". No they wouldn't they would think that he is going to be traded in the next 3 days. It would be different if a win meant something, but him playing this weekend is just a giant risk...If he were to get a concussion this weekend, that would just kill us.
  17. It's asinine that he is starting this game tonight. Can you imagine if he gets hurt? I just don't see the reason he is starting given the current situation. It doesn't matter if we win or lose, so why take the chance? A total head scratcher...
  18. That could be a HUGE mistake... Pretty risky at this stage of the game. That is scary.
  19. Holy Smokes! Offer the Nats Jeffress and Smith for Giolito, throw in someone else too if that is what it takes. Imagine landing Giolito and still having Lucroy to deal! Oh boy!
  20. If the Indians get jilted out of Lucroy, I doubt they would be to hip on another deal with the Brewers. I hope this ploy of multiple teams involved for Luc does in fact make the Indians pony up.
