  1. So the Brewers view Thomas as better than Smith?
  2. So being from LA just makes him want to go there to die? No shot at playoffs, a horribly ran organization, and that is where he'd like to end up? I hope he goes there, serves him right.
  3. Why on earth would he choose the Angels as a team he'd like to be traded to? 5 teams that will be in the hunt for the playoffs and the Angels? A source told MLB.com’s John Denton that Nolan Arenado has six teams on his list of preferred trade destinations: the Angels, Dodgers, Mets, Padres, Phillies and Red Sox. The Yankees are rather surprisingly missing from the list, though that probably doesn’t rule them out as a possibility. It’s currently unclear if any suitor is as interested in Arenado as the Cardinals are in moving on from him. He’s said he’d be willing to shift to first to aid a deal, but that just doesn’t make much sense; most of his value comes from his defense at third base. 2h ago Source: MLB.com
  4. The White Sox will make Brewers prospect Shane Smith the first pick in Wednesday’s Rule 5 draft, MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo reports. Smith, a Wake Forest product, had a 3.04 ERA and a 113/29 K/BB in 94 1/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A last season. Rule 5 picks are often traded after being picked, so it’s not clear yet that Smith will be remaining with the White Sox. If he does, though, he’d likely have a very good shot of claiming a bullpen spot in the spring. Related Chicago White Sox 1h ago Source: Jonathan Mayo
  5. Dodgers continue to spend, spend, spend...
  6. Honestly, I simply can not believe we didn't protect Smith. Instead, we will probably go out at the 2025 trade deadline and deal some prospects for yet another failure relief pitcher. Smith should have been on the 40, end of story.
  7. The Order - Saw it today. Good movie, disturbing at times but well worth seeing.
  8. Yeah, we were just kicking the tires, as usual, but with no real intention on getting anything done.
  9. No mention of the Brewers here in the latest info... Are we already out? The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon report the Mets and Yankees are among teams vying to acquire White Sox ace Garrett Crochet. Rosenthal and Sammon add that the Phillies and Red Sox are among the other teams interested in Crochet, but the Mets and Yankees have been the most aggressive so far in trade talks. The 25-year-old southpaw, who is under team control for two more season before reaching free agency is the best pitcher available on the trade market this offseason following last year’s breakout campaign where he led all big-league starters with a staggering 35.1 percent strikeout rate across 146 innings (32 starts). At this point, it’s unclear how close the White Sox are to making a decision, but the asking price figures to be astronomical.
  10. Does this take the Phillies out of the running for a Devin Williams trade? Phillies signed RHP Jordan Romano to a one-year, $8.5 million contract. The deal is now official. Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski told reporters at the Winter Meetings that he wouldn’t completely rule out acquiring another reliever, but added that he’s comfortable with the club’s bullpen at this point. The 31-year-old stopper was non-tendered last month by the Blue Jays after missing four months last year due to elbow issues, but he’s expected to be ready for spring training. All signs point to Romano opening next season as Philadelphia’s primary closer.
  11. The Phillies just signing Romano probably lowers the chances by quite a bit that they would be in on Williams. Kind of a bummer.
  12. If this was all it took, the deal would be done already. Not a chance this gets it done. An offer like that would immediately be beaten out by almost any other team in the running.
  13. Then I'm OUT!
  14. I'll believe it when I see it. The Brewers being involved really means nothing if they aren't "involving" a giant trade package to get him. I don't see it happening.
  15. Another gross black mark on MLB. When will enough be enough for the have-nots?
  16. Caddyshack - One of my favorite movies of all time, chock full of classic scenes and lines. If you have never seen it, I feel bad for you, seriously. KEEPER x 10! Cannonball Run - Cheesy ensemble movie from 1981 that was a huge hit but just doesn't cut it imo. The only saving grace is that Farrah Fawcett is in it, looking as beautiful as ever! She alone almost made me keep it, but she just wasn't enough... Goner Casino - Great movie, and at times, brutal as hell! Keeper.
  17. Actually, yes, we should...
  18. This is a bit surprising to me. BAL is as tight as they come, and full of young talent offensively. I would have expected them to spend on starting pitching if they were going to spend money.
  19. I wonder if we will ever know?
  20. That is a healthy attitude, hopefully next week is a better one.
  21. Just glad (for now) he didn't end up with the Cubs or Cardinals... This contract won't end well, we all know that, but I am happy he isn't spending the next 2-3 years tormenting us in the Central.
  22. You forgot to mention the endless commercials.
  23. Hopefully we get a much better offensive player, but it's hard to stomach his defense at times...
