  1. Mike, I sold both sets... Thanks anyway. I will be getting a list from my Dad over Christmas, he has a lot of complete sets from the 80's and early 90's that he wants to get rid of... The board member who bought my 78 and 80 sets will get first crack at them, but if you are intersted, and he doesn't want them, you are more than welcome to what I have left... I'll post after I know what my Dad has, and the other board member has the chance to see them first... Thanks for the interest!
  2. Weeks and Lohse for Lee? Yup, I'd do that deal all day, every day. YES! YES! YES! Next year we would get him for almost free by freeing up the Weeks and Lohse contracts. (actually around 4 million) Knock off Lohse's salary for year 2, and we are getting Lee for what, 14 million... By that time, we could trade him at the deadline during year 2 if we had no chance at the post season... So yes, I'd take that exact trade, but not if it included other prospects, and 100% sure NO if Gomez was involved.
  3. 2 Cy Youngs is far more than 2 games though.... He was the picture of dominance when healthy. He's a Hall of Famer!
  4. If he would play for FREE, I still wouldn't want him...
  5. Halladay not a Hall of Famer? 2 Cy Youngs, a no hitter in the playoffs and a perfect game? I think he is a shoe-in for the Hall of Fame!
  6. The Brewer bobble fad is fading... They can't sell out the bobble games like they used to, at one time a bobble game was an automatic sell out. Just not the case anymore. They have become easy to get on the secondary market, and CHEAP, which means it isn't necessary to go to the game in person when you can buy the bobble for $10, and save the high price of attending the games. (ticket prices, stadium food, parking, gas...etc) In a sense, giving out more bobbles works against the reason they do bobbles in the first place, putting butts in the seats. I go to fewer bobble games than I used to because they are just so easy to get. Last years bobble games had times where they had 10,000 - 15,000 bobbles that went unclaimed, which is why they are giving them away like candy on Halloween... They have saturated the market, thus the hobby takes a hit, and fans just don't care about them anymore. (use baseball cards in the mid 80's and 90's for an example, same thing) So instead of doing fewer SGA bobbles for 2014, they do MORE. *shaking head*
  7. Newsday's Marc Carig hears that the Mets are more likely to deal Ike Davis than they are Daniel Murphy. He points out that it's possible both will be traded, but Davis is more likely of the two to wind up elsewhere. The Brewers appear to have the most interest in trading for Davis at the moment. Murphy is drawing interest from the Orioles. Source: Marc Carig on Twitter
  8. I believe nothing Doug tells the media. When it is official, that is when I believe what Doug says.
  9. Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports that the Brewers met with the Mets on Monday to discuss the team's available first basemen. Ike Davis and Lucas Duda are both on the trade block for New York, with the former the heavy favorite to be moved. The Brewers are on the market for a first baseman, so it could just be a matter of due diligence. The club is also interested in bringing back Corey Hart. Source: Adam McCalvy on Twitter
  10. Please Doug, NOOOOOO! Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Brewers and Red Sox are among the teams interested in free agent reliever Carlos Marmol. Marmol posted a 2.53 ERA over 21 appearances after joining the Dodgers around mid-season this year and struck out 27 batters over 21 1/3 innings. That's not say that he's fixed, as his control was just as bad as ever, but it's no surprise that teams still see some upside here. Source: Gordon Wittenmyer on Twitter
  11. If we give up anything of value for Ike Davis, I will be severely disappointed. I'd rather have Hart for one or 2 years. Morse would be fine, but doesn't he have an injury issue?
  12. Looks like the Royals are intersted in Infante too! Maybe Nedly would like a reunion with Rickie Weeks???? If the Royals are in need of a 2B, Weeks needs to be offered up ASAP! CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Royals are interested in Omar Infante. Heyman notes, however, that it will be an "uphill battle" for the Royals because there's a "strong market" for Infante and Kansas City has a limited budget. The Yankees, for one, are interested in Infante as they look for someone to replace Robinson Cano. Infante batted .318/.345/.450 with 10 homers and 51 RBI for the Tigers in 2013. 13. Looks like we will be going into the season once again with a lot of question marks at 1B... Does Hart truly WANT to be in Milwaukee at a discounted price because he likes it here and feels he owes it to us? Looks like that is false. If we do sign him, and overpay, which appears to be the direction this is going, will his knees hold out or will he be just another expensive bench decoration? If we trade for Morrison, who do we have to give up, and will his numbers really improve at Miller Park or is he just nothing more than an average player? The only way I want to trade him is if we give up next to nothing. Just because our best prospects are not top 100 guys doesn't mean we should be handing them over for average MLB players. They are still the best we have. I want nothing to do with Francisco. NOTHING! It would be really nice if HUNTER Morris just tears it up this spring. The thought of another revolving door at 1B for another season makes me sick to my stomach.
  14. Just replied. If anyone is interested in 1980's and 1990's football and baseball sets, let me know. My Dad was heavy into collecting them back then, and is now thinking of getting rid of them at great prices! If you want volume, I can probably get you a great deal on the entire lot!!!
  15. Then again... Yeah, then again...
  16. 31 years old and getting a 10 year contract, worth 15 million at age 41? (and that is assuming that his real age is 31, he could be a couple/few years older) This is just ridiculous.
  17. I thought this was funny... Maybe signing a rapper who has never represented a MLB player before as your agent isn't the best plan after all... Mark Feinsand, Bill Madden and Teri Thompson of the New York Daily News report that contract talks between the Mariners and Robinson Cano's agent, Jay Z, broke off after Jay Z's excessive demands. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman is also hearing that there has been a "hiccup" in talks between the two sides. The Daily News says Cano's camp arrived in Seattle Thursday night with an eight-year, $200 million offer in hand, knowing that the M's were prepared to go to nine years and $225 million, an offer Seattle expected Cano to take. However, Jay Z then upped his asking price to 10 years and $252 million, at which point Mariners president Howard Lincoln apparently "exploded" and ended the meeting. The Daily News believes the Mariners are now out on Cano, leaving the Yankees as "his lone suitor." The Yanks are prepared to offer the second baseman $175 million. Source: New York Daily News
  18. ^this!
  19. Yes, they are in good condition, picked from packs and put in a card box...
  20. Until Yuni is picked up by another team, ANY other team, I still feel he will be a Brewer... Seriously.
  21. LOL this made me chuckle...
  22. Since Aoki was our only Japanese player, I took it for granted there would be no Japanese heritage bobble... I hope Peralta gets the bobble.
  23. I'd be interested in knowing if Aoki was shopped, or if Melvin just took the first offer presented...
  24. Henderson or Peralta??? Scooter or Davis?
  25. I have a full set from both years listed above. Not factory sets, but full sets that I pieced together back in the day when I was big into collecting... Anyway, if anyone wants to make me an offer on them, have at it. I have no idea of their value, or if anyone even wants them, so let me know if you are interested.
