  1. How High Own Stuff Into It http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/1b325869f487d73648c6b17524f6a722920904b.jpg My band name is the song "How High" Odd coincidence.
  2. This game made me angrier than any other this year. It really seemed they had figured it out, then bam, right back down to earth. Players need to make the plays, but when a pitcher comes in and it's BP from the first batter on, get him out before the game is tied.
  3. I've basically always been non-committal about Yost. Watching him waste what was otherwise a very solid game last night by removing Villanueva and sticking with Mota so long really upset me. I hate it when I feel like I've wasted time watching, but it seemed like you could see that Mota collapse coming from the first batter he faced. The balls were hit hard, not bloopers. It made no sense to bring or keep him in, so I'm not more than willing to say 'Yosted.'
  4. I grew up in Janesville. I haven't lived there for almost 10 years now, but I still go back at least yearly. I don't have many direct connections to the plant, but certainly I've known a lot of people who worked there or had family members that did. When I was a kid almost every other house on my block had a GM employee. Since I've left Janesville I've lived in 'rust belt' towns that lost their main manufacturing jobs and the towns are so much smaller than they were in their primes. My primary concern is that Janesville is able to maintain population and not end up with more empty buildings and closed businesses. How will this affect the local tax structure and the public schools? What are the other major employers in Janesville? Which ones are most independent of GM? Which ones are left that don't require a college education? Are their any new employers coming?
  5. nice solid win. that's fun to watch.
  6. I've always said "See-sil", but I may be wrong. It was "Seh-sill" Fielder.
  7. Hmm, I didn't realize it was a day game until just now. And it's over. Looks like I didn't miss much.
  8. Is Fox Sports South Chip Carey? That guy bugs me. He talks negative about everyone and he's always making fun of his parters. Self deprecation is better, but maybe that's because I grew up listening to Uecker.
  9. Braun's no Robin Yount out there, is he.
  10. Vin Scully is an interesting comparison. He talks an awful lot, and often it's nothing at all related to the play on the field. I do like him though. I think you just notice BA talking so much because he's just not contributing anything interesting. He's boring.
  11. Defense can't be as hard as he makes it look.
  12. Speaking of the infield fly rule, why is the rule not invoked when there is only a runner on first base? Is it because it's assumed that the defense can't gain an out because they'd likely not be able to turn two as long as the batter runs to first? It confuses me.
  13. I've got extra innings and I watch a good number of non-Brewer games. I've been noticing that a lot of the regional FSN channels have been displaying incorrect counts quite frequently.
  14. There are a lot of schools with or currently developing sports management and sports marketing degrees. You can usually find internships with minor league teams relatively easily to get in the door and often times those turn into real jobs after your degree. A cool thing about an internship with a minor league team is that their staffs are usually quite small so you get introduced to nearly every aspect of running the team (it's also usually a lot of hours). This is a good website to look at to get an idea of how the baseball job market works: http://www.pbeo.com/
  15. This is why you shouldn't bat the pitcher 9th http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. Ugh. Right. I seriously devote a lot of time to this team. A lineup like this makes me wonder why. I know it's Sunday and Braun is sick, etc. etc. etc. But, come on. This team is supposed to be built to compete and I'm watching this bunch of marginal MLB players?
  17. Branyan, Counsell, and Kapler all in the same lineup? Is this AAA?
  18. Blame it on Gravity is the best record since Too Far Too Care (but I have to admit I'm a huge fan and I think all the albums are great). BIOG doesn't quite capture the feeling of a live show as well as TFTC did. I'd say that BIOG sounds like a blend of TFTC and the high points on Fight Songs (which I think is under-appreciated by 97s fans). There are 2 tracks that sound like Rhett Miller songs on an Old 97's album (if that makes sense), but over all it's a solid 97's album, and Murry's songs are great.
  19. It never gets old. ... oh wait, yes it does.
