  1. I was just browsing through an onmilwaukee.com article published today and came across this interesting tidbit under "Larry King Lounge": I, for one, would love to see the road jersey sporting "Milwaukee" across the chest. I hope this is true. I am also interested to find out what Drew Olsen means when he says "reasonably near future." Could it be this year yet? Anyone have insight to this?
  2. As I said in the off topic forum, if he were asking for those things from Coghlan, and Coghlan only, then I'd agree, although I still think it would be asking for a lot. But to ask for signed memorabilia from another player (who he would have to go and ask), along with tickets for a team he doesn't root for, all the while wearing a Florida Marlins hat? That's crossing the line and is, in my humble opinion, blatantly dishonest. It gives all of us Brewer fans a bad rap.
  3. I could understand if he would have asked for a bat or a signed ball, and/or picture from Coghlan, and left it at that. But asking for a Ramirez signed bat, and tickets to the Yankees/Marlins series, all while wearing a Florida Marlins hat? That's shady, real shady. It's embarrassing if you ask me.
  4. Needless to say, other write-ups haven't painted a very good picture. The Marlin's message board isn't too kind to the Youngster either. I guess as I look at this from both Happy's and the Marlin's viewpoints, I am more empathetic to the Marlins and their player on this one.
  5. It's Al McGuire with Mike Deane. But I, too, don't understand the relevance of the picture. As for Manny, I guess I was surprised by the news. I know I should be, but I am anyways. I wonder if the yahoo fantasy baseball leagues have a slot to put suspended PED users, like they do for guys who go on the DL, which then opens a spot for you to pick up another player.
  6. Perhaps this would explain why the medical staff thought it was ok for him to pitch: "Riske, who signed a three-year, $13 million free agent contract prior to the 2008 season, had surgery to remove a bone spur in the elbow last September. As it turned out, that spur prevented the laxity in the ligament from being symptomatic. "Apparently, the bone spur prevented him from extending his elbow, which prevented the laxity from being exposed," said assistant general manager Gord Ash." JSonline Notes
  7. Thanks for this opportunity guys! I really appreciate it. I'll be in section 126 row 13 on Tuesday, April 14th. This offer gave me the ability to take my brother, who lives in Minnesota, to maybe his only game this year! Thanks again!
  8. He sounds like the most sensible Cubs fan ever. I don't ever recall seeing a team being handed a division title by writers and prognosticators like I have the 2009 Cubs. I'm just baffled that these same people have completely written the Brewers off, as if they have no chance whatsoever.
  9. Thanks for the heads up. I went to Kohl's in Janesville and picked myself up a ball and glove logo therma base jacket for 48 bucks. I had a 30% off coupon as well, and after tax I got it for 35 dollars. I got the new logo therma base jacket for Christmas, so I'm pumped I've got both now. I can't believe I got nearly 100 dollars off of this jacket. I don't know what others think of these therma based jackets who have them, but I think they are really nice.
  10. DM loves his rangers. Enough already! Koshansky was originally a Rockie, and was claimed by Texas on March 29th. So, he was a Ranger, but for less than a week.
  11. I don't know about you, but I really like the Eagles of Death Metal "Wanna Be In LA" song. But that's just me.
  12. I have dish, and I checked at around 9:00 and the game was not listed on the guide. I even clicked on all sports alternate channels and there was nothing. Finally, around 11:15 I checked the guide again...still nothing. But I checked channel 444, and there the game was. It was the top of the 9th, and I got to see Zealous Wheeler, this guy who looked like he was 12 and weighed 100 pounds soaking wet, Chris Duffy, and Logan Schaefer face Heath Bell. I was a bit perturbed, to say the least.
  13. If this is true about the negative x-ray, which I hope it is, perhaps it would just be best to sit Braun until Opening Day in San Fran. That would seem to be the wisest choice. edit: link to Braun's negative x-ray.
  14. Speaking of jersey's, what about this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...em&item=330317066721 I've seen some of these for well over 200 dollars. Any insights here?
  15. Eduardo Morlan was desiganted for Assignment, but there hasn't been any indication that Tampa Bay will take him back yet. The Brewers claimed Wes Littleton off of waivers. Link
  16. Eric Gagne has officially been released per Haudricourt. Does this mean we look at Chad Cordero, or someone like that?
  17. I believe it was in 2000 I went deep sea fishing in the gulf of Mexico. I very well could have gone out from the same location as these four did. However, I think we only went 15-20 miles out, and I'm telling you, it is an absolutely eerie feeling not seeing any land around you whatsoever, and seeing massive rolling waves. I'm guessing that the waves were only 5-8 feet, but they still seemed incredibly big. Perhaps this is why I was glued to this story. Every time I clicked on espn.com or any other sports website, I was praying I would read the headline "Missing boaters found alive" or something to that effect. This is just a heartbreaking story to me. And hearing the account from the lone survivor, that the NFL players took off their life jackets and allowed themselves to be swept to sea, it just gives me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. It's just a very sad and tragic story. As an aside, it would appear to me that Cooper's father/family is in denial at this point. As of last night he was still saying that they believe their son is alive just waiting to be found because he is a fighter. As much as I wish I could share their optimism, I don't. Now, if it were my own child, maybe I'd feel the same way they do. But after hearing that when they found Schuyler with a body temp of 89 degrees, and the doctor saying he maybe had 5-10 hours left to live, the same had to be true with Cooper and Smith. I just hope that they can come to grips with this sooner rather than later. Again, this is a tragic story that is sticking in my gut, and will for a while.
  18. Did anyone buy this game for PS2? If so, can you share your thoughts on it? I have MLB The Show 07, so I'd imagine 09 would be quite a bit better. The reason I didn't get 08 was because I was told there wasn't a whole lot different from 07. Anyways...any insights one could give on The Show 09 for PS2 would be greatly appreciated!
  19. I'm fairly certain Gagne isn't hurt. I think I read Macha say last week that he's a bit behind because he came into ST late, so he has some catching up to do. But it's a bit confusing since McCalvy reported Gagne as saying: So I'm not sure. I think we would have heard if Gagne was hurt. Does anyone, who is in Arizona for Spring Training, have any insights they could share?
  20. I didn't get a chance to tune into the game until after halftime. Who was doing the color commentary with Paschke?
  21. I'm not sure if this is being discussed elsewhere. I didn't see it, but that's entirely my own fault if it is. Looking at the Brewer Blog, Haudricourt has a very interesting bit of news: I know people have mentioned this possibility in the past, but it seems like Lawrie has been moved to 2B for a while now. I'm a bit excited about this move myself. Again, if this is already being discussed elsewhere, lock/delete away! EDIT: Thread Title
  22. What I said is not what I intended. I'm not consciously looking for reasons to relax. My point would have been made more clearly if I had said, "it provides me with a great way to relax after a long day" or "I find it to be a relaxing end to my day."
  23. To me, taking the time to light the charcoal is the best. It's a time where I can relax a bit. Sit down in a lawn chair, crack open a beer, maybe have the Brewer game on the radio (even though it will be much different without Powell), smell the charcoal burning...nothing like it. Plus, it gives me an opportunity to watch my kids play outside and allows me to play with them a bit too. When I am rushed to do stuff all day, lighting my charcoal grill gives me a reason to sit back and relax.
  24. If I understand your double negatives correctly, you are saying that because we let Brian Shouse go, we are rebuilding. I fail to see how letting Brian Shouse go means we are rebuilding. He was a good reliever for us, but he is also 40 years old and wanted a multi-year deal. When you have a guy like Mitch Stetter, who is similar to Shouse but can also get righties out, at a much more reasonable cost, the decision is easy. Add to it the Brewers also signed RJ Swindle, who is another Shouse-like pitcher, and there is no reason to lock yourself into a multi-year deal with a 40 year old LOOGY. If I misunderstood your double negatives, than disregard this post.
