  1. My vent is very similar to naivin's. I hate how I tell myself to take a break from watching the games, only to be thinking about the game and wondering who is winning, which leads me to flip on the game while I tell myself "I'm only going to check the score." Then it leads to "I'm only going to watch this at bat/time through the order/this pitch etc.,". I hate the fact that I cannot go a day without looking up the standings. I hate the fact that I am always holding out hope that the Brewers are going to snap out of their funk and win the next game, no matter who is pitching, and ultimately go on a tear. I hate the fact that I am a sports/Brewers fanatic.
  2. Gamecast is making this strike zone look whack. How does it look on TV?
  3. According to Gamecast, that called strike-three pitch to Nix looked well off the plate.
  4. Were the Spurs a more talented team than the Knicks in 1999? Not sure. Were the Spurs a more talented team than Nets in 2003? Perhaps. If they were, it wasn't by much. Were the Spurs a more talented team than the Pistons in 2005? I don't personally think so. Were the Spurs a more talented team than the Cavs in 2007? Probably. I've never felt that the Spurs were a team full of big talent. Tim Duncan? Yes. I'm not downplaying the fact that they are a good team, but I don't see a lot of ultra talented players on the team, as you were referring to when speaking of Joe Alexander.
  5. You seem to imply that Alexander has no talent. I think his showing in college, especially last year, proves that he definitely has talent. I think he has the work ethic to maximize that talent on the NBA level. I have to disagree with your above quote. What are the success rates of teams who have talented players who are on a team they hate? If they hate it, they usually aren't as motivated to play hard, and then become labeled cancers. Gary Sheffield was a talented player who hated Milwaukee. How did that turn out? I'm sure there are other examples that others can share. It's not always the most talented team that wins. See San Antonio Spurs, New York Giants 2008.
  6. Tracking on ESPN Gamecast, it appears that this strike zone is really inconsistent. How does it look on TV?
  7. Wouldn't "double secret rotation" be better, in that it sounds closer to "double secret probation?"
  8. I just can't imagine being paid good money to play baseball and not keep myself in shape. I could see Estrada looking like that after his playing days were over (which they appear to be), but not while being an active player.
  9. Has anyone seen K-Rod after a save recently? He appears to scream at the top of his lungs, spin around on the mound, gyrate, pump his chest, and point up to the sky. It's not as if it is his first save, or anymore important than any other. If that's not showboating I don't know what is. I don't hear people giving him grief. And yet, Braun gets grief for what he did. If K-Rod isn't lambasted for showboating, I don't view 4 or 5 walking strides out of the box showboating, especially when you consider the circumstances: he hit a homerun to put his team up by one in the top of the 9th, after not leading the whole game, which likely gave them a 4 game sweep of the Cardinals, and pushed their winning streak to 8.
  10. He would be a LH bat the Brewers have said to be looking for. It would relegate Weeks to back-up duty, unless they trade him for Hudson. Is Hudson a prototypical lead-off hitter? With his OBP, he certainly seems to be.
  11. I'm dying to get an update from Haudricourt...something...anything! I never thought I'd actually say that.
  12. I agree. However, adding Broxton would be counter productive IMO. You gain a starter, but lose a valuable piece of the bullpen. It'd be creating a hole in another spot.
  13. After reading the latest on C.C., I'm thinking it's more of a possibility than I thought. If we do end up making a deal for Sabathia, I'd still like to see them add another arm, perhaps Maddux. I can't imagine he would net too much, but I don't pretend to know his value. Would Gwynn + net Maddux? Any thoughts would help. But just imagine dealing for Sabathia and then Maddux. Our rotation for the stretch run: Sheets Sabathia Suppan Maddux Parra Thoughts?
  14. I voted Braun 125 times today (and wrote in Branyan 125 times too). We'll wait and see what happens.
  15. I think that song is hilarious. It's catchy, cheesy, and funny. I always hear people around me singing it at games, and I tend to sing it myself, while at the same time, giggling.
  16. Perhaps no truer words were spoken than those uttered on the day of his call up: "There was a time, a time before a .500 record, when a local baseball player reigned supreme. When people believed everything they read on the internet. This was an age when only men were allowed to attend baseball games. And in Milwaukee, one baseball player was more man then the rest. His name was Russell Branyan. He was like a god walking amongst mere mortals. He had a voice that could make a wolverine purr and a swing so fine it made Griffey Jr. look like a hobo. In other words, Russell Branyan was the balls." Little did we know...little did we know....
  17. The Brewers must like having a negative run differential.
  18. I wrote in Branyan 50 times. I'll probably do another 50 in the coming days. Having to type in a new verification code every time gets annoying after while.
  19. I saw the "Doorman" yesterday not only wearing a sweet Ben Greive #12 jersey, but Croc's with the Brewers colors and logo.
  20. Just wait for the headlines when Randy Choate starts pitching for the Crew: - Choate blows lead - Brewers' Choate out duels Yank's Wang - Choate loses it late - Choate strong to the finish I digress....giggling
  21. Just from his demeanor and attitude, Crisp seems like a thug. But that is just one man's opinion. I really like the Rays. It seems as if the Sox and Yanks are a little annoyed that they are in it up to this point, and even more annoyed that they seem to have some staying power, as if they shouldn't be allowed to be good. They are one of my favorite teams aside from the Brewers.
  22. From this Canadian Newspaper article: "Lawrie is not just hopeful, but confident he will rise through the minor leagues the same way he has in the draft rankings. "We play all the professional guys, if I can hit over .400 against them, there's no problem that I can do it when I'm 19, 20, 21," said Lawrie, who has signed letter of intent with Arizona State that might be nothing more than a fallback plan. "So I plan on getting to the big leagues in a year-and-a-half. I'm not looking to take five years in the minors." There is something "aboot" his Great attitude I like.
  23. All my Gallardo's are spoken for.
