  1. I may be in the minority, but I don't think Jose Reyes deserves to be in the same tier as Rollins and Ramirez. Could just be my anti-New York bias.
  2. And obviously the "win" statistic has changed over the years as the position has changed. I figured that was implied.
  3. That's not about the Brewers. That's just commen sense http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. This is exactly right...it has it's place. If you're judging a pitcher on how many wins he gets in a season, I don't think you're getting a statistic that really means anything. But at some point, when a pitcher has several 15-20 win seasons in a row, then we can probably assume that pitcher is doing something right. If you look at the all-time leaders in wins for pitchers, I don't think it can really be argued that those pitchers didn't have much to do with those 300+ wins.
  5. Turnbow's 5+ ERA didn't keep him from going to the ASG. But he had a lot of saves!
  6. To be fair, if we want to bash Yost for lame statistical things, we should probably give him the benefit of the doubt when the press asks him about lame statistical things.

  9. I'm no Woogie, but I try to do my part http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. It would have been nice to have this thread before I tried to take Hwy 10 back to Oshkosh to "save some time". Man I hate construction. Oh well, the games were fun and I got to hang out with my brother and his fiancee all weekend, so it's all good. If anyone was looking around on Saturday night, I was representin' in the Home Run Porch with my WOAH SOLVDD shirt. I was a little disappointed at how many Twins fans stuck around in the 9th on Saturday night. Last year we got to move up to the front row because everyone bolted during a 5-3 game, but this year they all stick it out for a 5-0 game. For the most part, I have always been impressed with Minneapolis. I haven't really visited much, but most people just seem genuinely nice. My brother lives in a really cool neighborhood, and it's a short bus or train ride to downtown. Hopefully I can make it over there again this summer to see more of the city. I unfortunately had to leave a day later than planned because my car was totalled in the flood and I needed a reliable vehicle to get me and my gf there. After spending Friday with my brother-in-law buying a car (he's a car salesman), we finally headed early Saturday morning. So basically, my entire trip was driving and baseball.

  12. How about for a guy making less than a million? I don't think it's fair to post his numbers in specific situations and make them sound worse by comparing them to overall numbers. I don't see any reason why we couldn't expect the line that SoCal put up. He had a full year where he dominated, and then a half year with a "bad" .846 OPS. I wouldn't call 35 homers and 100 rbi's some kind of pipe dream. The rbi's are going to depend more on the guys in front of him anyways.
  13. It might be true sometimes, or rather, it might work out that way sometimes, but I don't think I would go so far as to say that it's an ADVANTAGE to be behind in the standings.
  14. I think it was already decided that those things didn't happen, hawing. I cringed every time I saw him up in the bullpen. I'm so glad this is over and we don't have to worry about him coming back up in September.
  15. I don't know if there was more stuff behind the scenes after that (and neither does kngfielder), but if I remember correctly, those weren't the only threads that this happened in. Maybe it was just a feeling, but I remember feeling like every thread during that time was turning into a debate about Weeks. There's also the fact that we don't know if there were nasty PMs or emails sent after that. Considering the way he was acting and the things he was saying in the thread, I would take the mod's word over his in that matter. But then again, I'm only agreeing with the mods so I can say whatever I want and not get banned http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. You got a problem with Green Day, homer? I will rip u apart.
  17. It happens to me a lot of home runs, too. It's not really a freeze, though. Everything else is going, and you can hit START and go to the menu and stuff, but since it's the middle of the play you can't do anything in the menu. Basically the guy hits a homer, and he just stands there at home plate. Is that the one you're referring to Hammer? I think it's something that happens when you get further along in Franchise Mode. I was in my 8th or 9th year when it started getting really bad.
  18. I don't think you can ever expect 50+ homers from a guy. If he hits mid-30s and low-40s in homers while he's here, I'm okay with that. And every once in awhile, he might surprise us and hit 50+. Same with Braun.
  19. I guess if you figure in that a lot of the outs don't count as an AB (sacrifice), that seems about right.
  20. If I were you I would've ended the contest right there. Agreed. And I remember bball123h having the "Najeh's Closet" name because I asked if I could borrow it over at LambeauLeap. I'm a jazzer all the way through, so most of my team names end up being tunes that work out well. For example: Salt Peanuts Straight No Chasers
  21. That would be the most civil thing to do. And I'm being serious. I'm really bored today.
  22. Fair enough. I figured you meant something different. Considering how well he's been hitting lately, I could definitely see that. Fielder has been very patient at the plate all year even as fans were getting on him about being a vegetarian and not hitting homers. He just kept taking his walks (sometimes to the point of driving me crazy), and now he's getting his homers. OWBC, you're at 1,000 posts now! You can say whatever you want!
  23. I hate you guys. I only come here because I'm addicted to rage.
  24. I'm not sure that I understand this. I always thought 1B was the "easiest" position, and Fielder's defense has been atrocious this year. Even with the learning curve, I think Braun has been better defensively than Fielder. I guess it would be hard to measure an infielder against an outfielder defensively, though.
  25. I wouldn't mind if he could consistently have those 2008 stats against righties, but I don't think he can. He had a pretty ridiculous stretch last year where he was our best reliever no matter the situation. I still think he should be saved for lefties, though. I don't mind if he faces a righty between two lefties or something like that, but I don't he should be considered some kind of all-around great reliever.
