  1. I was thinking the same thing last night as I was playing. I created a Catcher and he's doing pretty well so far, but I haven't been able to work on his power yet and it's getting really annoying. I also have had problems getting my player on the League Leaders for BA and SLG and the like. I remember having this same problem last year, and even if I would have 200 ABs and there would be guys on there with 150 ABs, it still wouldn't include me. Anyone else have this problem?
  2. slow computers
  3. Those soft, fuzzy toilet seat covers bug the crap out of me. My mom always had one on the toilet at home, and because of how thick it was it kept the seat from being able to stay up. So basically, I was always trying to take care of business while holding the seat up at the same time. Very annoying.
  4. Very true. I use to make it through college band rehearsals with a thermos cup full of gin & tonic.
  5. Expresso... And the ever popular "PIN number". That one really gets to me because I work at a financial institution and I hear it all the time.
  6. Anything involving Vargas would be wonderful. I don't care if prospects are involved. I just need sleep, and so do the Brewer players, and Vargas pitching prevents that.
  7. I was wondering the same thing. He may have been just being honest. I don't really have a problem with a guy who just hit 50 homers saying he's worth more (relatively) than half a million. Did he say "I'm not happy that they didn't give me a little more and my performance might reflect this"? If not, then I don't see it as a big deal. If someone asks him about his contract, would you rather he lie and tell us what we want to hear? Or would you rather he tell us the truth but assure us that he understands why it is and that this won't affect his performance? It's really all there, as rluzinski pointed out: "You have to respect their scale." (he understands that there is a process) "But like I said, I'm not happy about it." (he's being honest) "But I'm going to do my job this year." (I would assume his job is hitting 50 homers, so I have no problems here)
  8. As bjkrautk said, it's really his slider that he needs to be able to control. He normally has no problem throwing strikes, it's just that most hitters don't have any problem hitting a high 90's fastball right down the middle. At that point he doesn't trust his slider, and he's trying to catch the corners with a hard fastball. Without that slider, he's either giving up home runs or walks.
  9. I have a feeling he'll opt for surgery sometime mid-season. 162 games is a long, long time when you're only hope is on the bench.
  10. This is killing me. Two more hours until work is done and I have the game sitting right next to me. I thought about hiding it on myself so I wouldn't torture myself, but then I would probably forget it. Thanks for the info jwill...that's at least one thing I won't have to figure out for myself.
  11. Great stuff AT. Apparently the ump in TLB's post really likes the coffee breath.
  12. Actually I was thinking more along the lines of his breath when he's right up in the umps face, but yeah, what you mentioned would make it that much worse. Someone please hit me up with an image of Yost in an ump's face for a full effect. The image thing doesn't work on my work computer. I'm thinking the coffee thing could make for a good caption http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. 1. Detergent goes first. Unless you enjoy going into some place with a black light and looking like you peed yourself. 2. I don't have a landline, but I let my cell ring most of the way through because my ringer in Red, Red, Wine. 3. See #2 4. I normally don't count the change. It depends on the situation...if it's a lot of change I might count it, but if there's someone behind me I'll step off to the side and count it. 5. I use my signal pretty much all the time, but I don't go so far as to use it in parking lots or when there's a 90 degree curve and the only option is to turn right. 6. I always figure my name and number will show up, so sometimes I won't leave a message. It depends on the person. 7. I always wait for some kind of down time during sporting events to do anything. I usually try to find the times that everyone else isn't going to be rushing the bathroom. For example, if the Brewers are on defense and the other team's 7-8-9 hitters are up, I might make a run for the bathroom. 8. When you are hungry for something that you obviously don't have in your cupboards or fridge, do you usually check anyway in hopes it will "magically appear?" I pretty much always do this. I just did last night. 9. I've noticed I'm more productive if I write it down, but mostly I keep it in my head. That system got me 2 college degrees, so I think I'm fine for now. The problem is when I get older and my memory is fading, so I should probably start using a planner more regularly now. 10. About this last question, I'm a little different because I work for the financial institution where my checking account is, so I can pretty much access my account any time I want.
  14. All I can think of is the horror the umpires must have to go through. No wonder Yost gets such a quick hook.
  15. Sounds like they at least fixed some of the roster problems. That's good enough for me, so I'll probably pick it up this weekend. I was trying to wait until I have surgery next month because I'll be off work for a week and a half and I want a brand new game to learn...but that's just too long to wait. Edit: The girlfriend is picking it up right now! (I'm paying her back of course). Man, if that girl wasn't a Cubs fan, she would be perfect.
  16. I'll second this question. Can't quite shell out for a PS3 yet, and I don't want to put money into a game if it's just a roster update.
  17. This is really the key. I like my employees to be risk-takers, and I always have an open door. But obviously not all managers are like this, and some may see your approach to them as a power struggle and let you walk...or make you walk. I think you really have to get a good feel for your immediate supervisor, if you don't already. Some scary people get into management. If this is something that you really feel is affecting your pride and you don't want to work in that kind of situation anymore, then as dadofandrew said, you need to prepare yourself for the worst. If it's something you can live with until you find something better, then do that, and start applying. There's really no harm in finding out what your worth is in other jobs or at different health care places. For my employees' sake, I would rather they not show any loyalty, because that would give me a false sense of loyalty and make things worse if they decided to leave.
  18. There's a thread stickied at the top of the off-topic forum for fantasy stuff.
  19. Missy Elliot.
  20. I'm getting really sick of the engine oil lotion soap in public bathrooms. I can't even get a good lather. There needs to be a federal law for mandatory foamy soap dispensers.
  21. I don't know why, but I just read that entire thing on my lunch. It was one part anxiousness to get the new game, and another part a well-written story that pointed out some of the obvious flaws of the game. Anyone know if the problems with minor leagues are fixed this year? Do players actually have a certain amount of options and send-downs and call-ups more realistic? There were just some weird guys sent down to AAA in last year's game, and it got really annoying. As for your question, I usually start out a franchise just to get a feel for the game since there's inevitably a new hitting technique or something every year. In a few weeks I get sick of it and start my Road to the Show. That was a pretty cool feature, it was just a little annoying how big the gap was in difficulty between the highest difficulty level and the 2nd highest. I was either a .220 hitter or a .370 hitter with 60 homers.
  22. What are the chances Rottino is kept as a 3rd catcher/utility player? I imagine that would provide some advantages, especially the option of pinch-hitting for Kendall late in a close game.
  23. I heard about the facade, too. Apparently they don't want the sun dial in the movie http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif It's too bad because that's a nice park area, but if it doesn't fit the scene then obviously they have to change it. I was also told that the times they've set aren't set in stone. They say April 14-16, but if the snow melts tomorrow (fat chance), they'll be here tomorrow getting ready.
  24. I think the lure of Anchorman is the combination of it being kinda funny with Christina Applegate. The combination makes it a good movie.
