  1. Gindl is too low. This is nothing new for him, though, and I wouldn't be surprised if he is never highly rated (top 5-10 talent) as he progresses. I can't remember a Brewer OF who was so young and so successful. The only thing holding him back in these rankings is height, right?
  2. I say put him on the 40 man. It might send the wrong message, but who cares? I'm not sure what some people think will happen (a weed and lack of respect for the rules pandemic rushing through our system?!?! kidding). We are here to win baseball games, and this guy could be a pretty important part of that. Maybe they could shift him into Villi's role in a year or so. Then he would be more of 7th inning guy that could spot start if we needed (which we def. did this year). Evaluate him as a SP at that time, and decide if he is worthy of shifting into a permanent starting role.
  3. Without knowing who the baserunner is, it looks like Lucroy has some ok wheels. Sweet.
  4. That's a nice ranking for Lasker. Walla didn't do much to earn that spot so the ceiling must be huge in the eyes of scouts.
  5. I think Lucroy will get some serious consideration from the Brewers' front office. Being an early 20's catcher with that K/BB ratio is pretty unheard of around these parts, plus he's got decent power to boot.
  6. Check out these sick splits for Logan Schafer this season: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=&sid=t503&t=p_pbp&pid=502582 A lefty CF with a .336 average vs LHP's in 113 ab's. Not a huge sample, but it is a whole season. I really think this guy is surging past Lo Cain this season. Also, Eric Farris just keeps performing. I like the guy. His numbers after the All-Star break are fantastic (.800+ OPS). He may not be an elite 2B prospect given his age and what not, but I'm glad he is on our team. EDIT: Activated link...
  7. I have a feeling he will sign on August 17th. This is just Boras seeing if he can get the Brewers to blink. If he signs in August, maybe he goes to the HWB and gets his first 100-150 AB's in. I wonder how much he asked for and then denied? Edit: I just wanted to add that this goes against the recent report with Bruce saying, "We're not that far off."
  8. If Green didn't have to be included, I would do that. Halladay would instantly be a top 3-4 pitcher (along with Lincecum, Haren, and prolly Johan) in the NL. With Green in, it's just too much to give up. Remember Escobar is THE best SS prospect in the high minors right now. That has serious value.
  9. Alcides Escobar: Ozzie Smith with a better arm and slightly better stick (Yea, Ozzie had some OK years). Mat Gamel: Aubry Huff or Hank Blalock with a better BA Angel Salome: Idk, mini SF style Benji Molina with the stick, who knows on defense... Cole Gillespie: Ryan Church-ish/Chone Figgins-ish Adam Heether: Brian Roberts-Lite (Very 'Lite') Chris Cody: Doug Davis with less heat and a ton more GB's. Jonathon Lucroy: If everything goes perfect, he reminds me of Varitek-lite or a better Chad Krueter Taylor Green: Kelly Johnson or a better Mark Lorretta Lorenzo Cain: Mike Cameron maybe (D would have to improve a bunch but I like the hitting comp.). Braddock: Manny Parra basically Josh Butler: In the Brandon Webb mold but more of a #4-5 guy Rob Wooten: Rod Beck is perfecto, at worst, David Riske or Scott Linebrink type. Caleb Gindl: Nate McClouth with a cannon. Logan Schafer: Jeremy Reed with a lower BA and OBP Evan Anundson: Braden Looper all the way, but a little less heat (for now). Cody Scarpetta: Aaron Harang but with less heat Wily Peralta: Sky is the limit with his ratios. Brett Lawrie: Garret Atkins/Brad Hawpe type of guy. Guys in the lower levels are to hard to project right now for me. Of course, these are optimistic comparisons and maybe 2-4 of them will prove correct or valid.
  10. Say McKlevie was signable like Arnett or Prince, what round would he have been selected? Top 5? Great pick Bruce.
  11. That was unreadable to say the least. To suggest that Hampton and Ortiz are spearheading their 'turnaround' is funny. More like Oswalt has been fantastic lately, and Berkman has finally played himself into game shape. The dang economy can't be too bad if this hack still has a cushy beat writer job. Did anyone else see the Jason Castro is a mixture of Mauer and Pudge comment? More like Russ Martin at best and Paul Lo Duca at worst. This is why people just ignore newspapers for the most part.
  12. Well BK, I would say he is brimming with confidence. Great pick.
  13. Actually, Adu is still a very promising soccer player in Europe right now. He has a great skill set and his upside is vast. As baseball fans, we can appreciate a description like that. I mean, he was playing MLS at age 14 or something.
  14. Freakin' awesome site. Great job. I will def. be checking in here and there. As you can see KingofSwagger, this site asks only the best from their posters in effort to make this the best Brewer fan site out there. The standards here are super high but the content is the best I have ever seen from a fan site. Welcome.
  15. Prince's agent, Bobby Straface, seems to have a mean-mug going in that photo. Smile man! Same with Mom... Edit: I should also say that this kid seems like a great pick. Great size for a SS, can hit and get on base, and has a pretty decent track record in a decent conference. Nice pick Bruce.
  16. Theriot is a freaking pain in my neck but he doesn't scare me. Reed Johnson and Fukudome always kill us too.
  17. Boy, if Tate falls to us, I could get on board with him as a pick. Just pay him and get him hitting. I wonder what kind of budget MA and DM have given Seid?
  18. Abreu .300 1999 almost there
  19. Jeter .316 2603 ARod .305 2427 Manny .315 2424 Vladdy .322 2155 Helton .328 2015 Chipper .311 2323 Pudge .301 2647 Pujols .335 1594 G. Anderson .296 2398 Berkman .300 1492 Ichiro .331 1877 Polanco .303 1544 Sheffield .292 2644 Kendall .291 2006 Renteria .289 2111 Luis Castillo .291 1726 Carlos Lee .291 1698 Magglio .311 1879 Brian Giles .291 1890 Tejada .288 1991 Damon .289 2330 Any other close ones?
  20. "6 hitters in MLB that are active, with 2,000 career hits and a .300 batting average." I'll try. ARod, Vladdy, Jeter, G. Anderson, Chipper Jones, Manny. Others maybe: Ichiro (close to 2000 I think), Pujols (soon enough), Griffey (gotta be close in AVG), Edmonds, Delgado, Pudge, Kendall (NOT!), Magglio. Had to have gotten a couple. Edit: Sorry about format. Safari doesn't seem to like bf.net right now.
  21. Man, some of you guys come off as such stiffs sometimes... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif The fact that some have admitted to owning/wearing Zubaz (before my time) should prove that many have worn outlandish gear in the past. This is the style now. Btw, these shirts are way nicer than anything you will find at Gap, A & E, A & F, B. Rep., Hollister or whatever other mall chain. Shirts like those are ridiculously soft and stay that way for super long. In Mpls., we have a joint called Len Druskin that sells high end gear like this and I love it. (You can get last seasons stuff at the southdale outlet for like 75% off too!) Anyways, my whole family has switched over to these super soft tees because they really are that much better. $100 is a bit much, but I have spent a good $75-80 on a long sleeve tee. Worth it! Sorry, just had to defend Braunie a little bit...fire away! Edit: Soft people, trust me. Don't knock it till you try it.
  22. Anyone know anything about Jamie King? What he throws? I remember him being the 'big' international signing from last year. Or I am just crazy?
  23. NL Chipper Jones AL ? Randy Johnson Roger Clemens ? ?
  24. Bob Welch in AL with 27.
  25. That looks right actually, maybe not Schmidt though.
