  1. 30's Gehrig 50's Mayes 70's Reggie Jackson?
  2. I'm worried. This is a lot like Francoeur. Corey started the year off ok, but has now lost all of his patience all over again. I would give him another month, but if nothing changes, I think KM might give Gerut more regular time.
  3. I get the distinct feeling that none of this is done to show up the other team. This is a close team. They seem to have a ball with each other. These are the fun little things that teams do. If it ticks a rival off too, sweet. Think Bash Brothers or Jose Reyes and his multitude of handshakes. Last weekend, I saw the Twins players doing a weird high five to back elbow bump thingy. I don't think anyone else in baseball has ever done that, is that disrespectful? It's a TEAM celebration. No one would give a rip if we were in last place. In the movie Bull Durham, if Crash and Nuke did the run-off, this act would be revered as 'part of this great game of baseball'. Instead, Bob Brenly (Cubs), Cards announcers and players, whoever from Pittsburgh, Dave Winfield, and Mitch Williams (far from the model of traditional baseball players) started whining about our so-called antics. Idk, this is getting old.
  4. I love Memory Lanes! Caught a sweet Beatles cover band there about a month ago. I love the 80's mustache idea too. I'll have to consult with my homies to see if we can come up with something fun to do. Oh, and the only reason I would ever even step foot in the dome is to see my beloved Brew Crew.
  5. I'll be attending at least 2 of 3 (Soundset 2009 is Sunday night). I live in Mpls. but I've got a handful of Milwaukee faithful coming up for the games. Should be a nice turnout for Brewers fans. See ya'll around town after the games!
  6. Any reason in particular you are high on these guys? Do you think the all have better than split odds to last until the Brewers pick?
  7. I keep going back and forth on this, but if you look closely, the first thing he looks at after the catch was one of his teammates (looked like an IF to me) and he smiled. If I had to guess what was going through Braun's head, it would be: Man, that was fun as hell, I have always wanted to make a play like that my entire life! I would have to think that every player dreams about making a play like that. When it happens the first time, it's ok to act like you haven't been there before. In reality though, he is just playing with great passion and love for the game. If he would have looked right at the hitter and stuck his tongue out or if he fake mooned the fans at Busch after his catch, people would have more of a reason to be upset. Even Dave Winfield last night made a shady comment about Braun. The highlight of his second catch was playing and all Winfield could say was, 'He didn't have to slide for that...'. You could tell that he thought Braun did it just to make himself look great or something. To me, it looked like he flew out of nowhere to make the play, so I don't know what he is talking about. This stuff doesn't even make me mad anymore. It's not worth it. Hate is always directed towards the first place team. The real problem is when the media starts directing hate at us. People believe everything they hear on BBTN and SC as gospel but it usually regurgitated information from beat writers and fan blogs. About as reliable as the lazy step father on the couch.
  8. You gotta be kidding me! Rickie, you deserve so much better. Good luck man.
  9. I know this would never happen because they are pitchers (unless they are the one doing the beaning), but I have to think a Gallardo/Parra tag team could mess up some folks. Gallardo would be focused and precise with plenty of power just decimating folks with uppercuts, jabs, hooks, etc. Parra would throw crazy hay-makers all over the zone and would usually miss, but when he does connect, it is utterly devastating. Parra v. Prince: would've been fun to see....
  10. Brenly just suggested they pluck Braun to get to fielder. I love the hate! Watching WGN in Mpls., that's how I know.
  11. Nice turn by Rickie, Hoffpauir was def. bearing down on him.
  12. I'm sure we will stockpile young arms again, but I hope we don't just try to find more advanced, lower upside guys to fill out the top of or minor league system. College pitchers are fine, but I want them to be guys that still have plenty to offer both 'stuff' and potential wise. No Daniel Moskos picks please. I guess I just prefer HS kids with big arms in that respect.
  13. Man that would be sick... I'm really pumped for this draft, and had a couple more questions if that is cool. I see Kentrail Davis is listed at 5'9''. Would this guy be much higher if he had more 'prototypical' size? We all know what Gindl can do (at least in A ball), not to mention the many other short players that have had success before. Is he still thought of as a possible 5 tool guy or are there questions about his power? It seems like he has been around forever. Could you see the Brewers taking him in the 1st or Supplemental Round? Also, any word on how Mychal Givens is looking so far? He just has a athletic sounding name (whatever that means). We could use an infusion of middle infield talent in the lower levels. Lastly, Who is this years Lucroy going to be? What I mean is what smallish school prospect could you see the Brewers being super interested in? Fredrickson was kind of that guy last year. Thanks so much Colby.
  14. Wow, I am going to catch some flack for this, but I believe Manny regarding the 15 tests in last 3 years thing. I know the testing is probably lagging behind what is being used, but you got to think that at least the last 5 tests or so were strict enough to catch most guys. Who knows though. I wonder if the players ever would consider letting the testing become public. That way all of their clean tests would be made public too. Public knowledge of clean tests would lessen the hurt from these once in a while failed tests.
  15. Man, that is awesome! Ben Badler from BA was just raving about Dominic Brown today, so to see Gindl gun him out makes it all the better, at least for me. I wonder how deep the ball was hit? Also, to get a win when Drabek was starting is a very positive thing. Butler is starting to figure it out a little bit despite today's game.
  16. Cool Site. It's hard to find good draft coverage at an affordable price (i.e. free). I see you have the Brewers taking the OF Mitchell in the first round. Has Seid touted this guy? Why do you see him as a fit for the Crew? Is he their kind of player (i.e. High upside bat, question in other areas)? Thanks dude.
  17. I have to think that even a non-layperson would say a guy is better if he is hitting the ball harder and (and I think) more frequently than ever. Put me in the camp that think his walks will catch up. That pop out rate is interesting to me. How is Weeks' rate compared to the rest of the league? I'll look too, but just saying...
  18. I thought I mentioned his improvment a few days ago, but I know what you mean. Anyways, Gamel may or may not be streaky, but going 10 games w/o an error is a pleasant surprise from him. With his bat, all he has to do is take baby steps on D and DM, KM, and Gord will move him along.
  19. Wow, that would be really impressive. Correct me if I'm wrong but, Rickie skipped a level of A ball. Braun made a stop at every level. Prince skipped a level of A ball as well. If Lawrie makes that jump, it will prove just how much DM and company love this guy. I almost feel like Lawrie would have been the pick at 6 or 16 (pure speculation). I say challenge the kid.
  20. Man, if Rickie really does finally put it all together, it will be one very difficult day when he signs or is traded somewhere else. We have all (mostly) been pulling for this guy so long, that it would really kill me if we had to let him go after he played his guts out (and is finally seeing results) for us. He is def. seeing results too. He is smashing line drives everywhere, rocking mistake pitches, and he is even going to right field. His walks will come once the rest of the NL realizes this is not a guy you can mess around with anymore. One thing is for certain, I have never questioned Rickie's desire to improve, and I have never heard/read anything different.
  21. I hope so, I think they should be challenging Odorizzi more. Is he really less advanced than Nieves or Peralta? Let's see what this talented kid can do, get him to Low A.
  22. For some reason, I just have a gut feeling that Mat will lower his error total for the third year in a row. I know he got off to a rocky start, but his stat sheets have looked a little better lately. DM is really going to have a tough decision to make if Gamel is called up to DH and he rakes. I hope they give the bat a shot to see what they are missing.
  23. Must say Rickie is looking pretty good on D so far this year.
  24. Took me all of two seconds to realize it, but my heart almost exploded, so thank you.
