  1. I have the opposite on DL - it's a weak draft for DL, particularly DE. Lots of undersized guys with mediocre production. When it comes to edge defenders (under 280 lbs), there's a lot of depth, but not interior DL (5/3i/1/0 technique, 280lbs plus) The Packers brought Keion White in for one of their top 30 visits. Hmmm....
  2. Pay-per-view didn't sell advertising spots
  3. Hopefully blockchain will soon take care of that.
  4. I'm surprised this is in the Packers 2023 thread. 🙂
  5. Depends on that that 2025 protection is. Yeah, we'll give you a 5th round pick if he doesn't play, sure. Maybe even a 3rd because we can't draft in the 3rd round to save our arse. Anything more than a 3rd is a no-go.
  6. Mods - maybe split off a Rodgers thread from the Packers thread? According to PFF, the Packers are projected (barring any league-wide roster changes) to have the 2nd best pass protecting OL in the NFL next season behind only Philadelphia. The Packers lowest ranked starter is Zach Tom at RT, and he is at the 74th percentile at RT. Everyone except Nijman is under contract through at least 2024. This is why I don't expect the Packers to draft an OL on day 1 or 2. The Bears best pass-blocking OL is at a lower percentile than the worst Packers starting OL.
  7. And your Wisconsin Badgers are women's National Champions!!! First time all season that #1 Ohio State has been shut out!
  8. 'zactly. Lamar Jackson will cost 1) a lot more in draft capital, and B) a lot more in guaranteed money than Rodgers. Yes, Rodgers options are expensive. Jackson will get a lot more than that in guaranteed money. And then if he starts stinking like Russell Wilson, they're stuck with him (and his cap allocation) for a long time.
  9. And all those stimulus checks that I didn't get, too.
  10. More like UW basketball - one disappointing season/three week stretch/tournament and half the fan base wants to move on to the next guy.
  11. Comp picks are always at the end of each round. Cannot be early 5th.
  12. That's a different tune than Wingo was singing this morning/yesterday evening when he replied to a tweet from Andrew Brandt and said that neither the Packers nor the Jets knew anything.
  13. Especially women, more specifically older women, who know what it's like to be (afraid to be) replaced by someone younger.
  14. Why would the Jets give up a good WR if they're bringing in Rodgers? If they're going for it, they're giving up picks. And probably more in 2024+ picks than 2023.
  15. Safety and LB are two positions where if a player has excellent instincts and can quickly read and diagnose plays he will make up that speed by being in position and already being 2-3 steps toward where he needs to be before other guys figure that out.
  16. Why wouldn't Rodgers just tell the Packers who he wants to be traded to in the first place? I highly doubt that the Packers trade Rodgers anywhere without getting his blessing, or try to force him to stay if he doesn't want to. And I highly doubt that a team will trade for him without getting assurances from Rodgers that he wants to play for them.

  18. You're seriously comparing "hurt" to an incident where someone got killed? 1) Name them (the last NFL player I can recall who drove at a high rate of speed killed someone and has been in jail ever since) B) How many of them aren't either in jail, kicked out of the league, suspended for a significant period of time, or were released? 3) How do you know that Carter didn't instigate it? How do you know that Carter isn't the one who challenged the other vehicle to a race? What if he did? It takes two to tango, and if Carter doesn't race them do they race themselves? Highly unlikely. Also, while Carter was "at the scene", he allegedly left the scene before police/emergency personnel arrived and came back two hours later. He also changed his story; he first told police that he heard the crash from a nearby apartment complex, but then later told an officer he had been driving both behind and beside the SUV. Not sure how leaving the scene isn't a crime.
  19. Loads of guys in the NFL are involved in racing accidents that get people killed?
  20. Arrest warrant issued for Jalen Carter in connection with the vehicle death of his teammate Devin Willock after the national championship game. Allegedly he and the girl driving the other vehicle were racing, driving recklessly, swerving in and out of traffic, driving in the oncoming lane. The girl who was driving the other vehicle apparently had a BAC of .197. Carter is being charged with misdemeanors at this point, but have to think that this is going to make him drop quite a bit as the behavior risk just shot up.
  21. I disagree on the TE depth. There are maybe 5 guys that could go in the top two rounds, which is more than most years, but after that there is a huge dropoff. Barring some surprising performances at the combine/pro day, maybe 10 TEs that could get drafted before the 7th round. That's why I think that they'll get overdrafted - there will be a scramble to get those top 4-6 guys (Mayer, Washington, Musgrave, Kincaid, maybe LaPorta & Durham). Guys like Kraft, Schoonmaker, Whyle, Mallory, Latu will have to show something at the combine/pro days, but are likely backups at best in the pros.
  22. The TEs will get overdrafted. There are 5-6 good ones in this draft, then a huge dropoff. Meyer - depends on what he runs. If he clocks in at 4.65 or better he will be gone by #15. His PFF grade last year was 92.5. Kincaid - depends on what he measures (and runs). He's listed at 6'4", 240, but I don't see that size on film. If he comes in under that he will need to run sub-4.6 to get drafted in the top two rounds. I saw a couple of their games and I believe in the Pac-10 championship game he had a horrible drop in the end zone that would have been a TD. Everyone has drops, but he was wide open facing the QB with a chest-high pass. Easiest pass you're going to get. I'm not a fan. Washington - one of those guys whose talent may have been hidden by the system and what he was asked to do. If he tests well, at that size he won't make it out of the first round. Career average of 17.2 ypc. Musgrave - late 1st to mid-2nd, depending on how teams value his blocking (which at the Senior Bowl wasn't good). Limited film due to missing most of 2022 with injury. If the Packers strike out on the top guys, at the next tier is Payne Durham of Purdue who might be able to be had in the 4th. Durham looked good at the Senior Bowl and is one of my sleepers. Other than Durham you have LaPorta in there, maybe one or two small-school guys in the mid rounds, and then a huge dropoff to 7th round/UDFA talent.
  23. I know people who have sold their home and the new owners rented it back to them for a month or two before the new owners were able to move in. If there is that much demand, there will be demand for yours, and just say that you can't move out for 2-3 months and see if someone will bite. Make a bigger offer. Money talks. Another friend (who has a young child) sold their house and then rented via Air BnB for a few months before they were able to buy a place (in another city). There were several factors including a job change, but see if you can rent a place for a couple of months so you won't have a contingency. That rent will be above market rate to have flexibility in lease term, but every other option will cost you money too.
  24. As nate mentioned, younger Millennials and Gen Z don't go to Hawaii. Go to Tulum, or southern coastal Italy, or (name your national park hiking trails in North America), or Nashville/Austin, or (name your ski resort in North America) and tell me what you see. I manage a team of younger Millennials and Gen Z (5-7 people) and two have been to Tulum, two others have been to Italy (along with a couple of other international destinations), and another to Colorado all in the last year and none of them make anywhere close to $100K/year. I just got back from Park City. Single day walk-up lift tickets were $260 for holiday weeks, $219 for non-holidays. The mountains were not empty, and they weren't Gen X'ers or Boomers.
