  1. Caleb Jones is a poor man's Daniel Faalele. Listed at 6'8", 362. I don't think he can stay at tackle unless the Pack can get him to drop at least 30 lbs. Didn't impress me at all in the few Indiana games I watched.
  2. They addressed their needs. 3 WR (two of them in the first four rounds), 3 OL, 2 DT (one early and one late), and a legit 3-down game-changing ILB who should be able to cover even the best TEs. Only criticism is giving up a bit too much for Watson (should have asked for at least a 5th back from MIN) and not grabbing a developmental CB. A- for sure.
  3. A bit surprised they didn't grab a developmental corner somewhere as they only have seven on the roster. I'd expect them to grab a couple UDFA corners and at least one UDFA safety.
  4. Toure! Got another one! If he’s still available: Samori Toure, WR, Nebraska – Badgers fans will remember Toure being wide open during the Nebraska game, and Toure then did the same thing at the Shrine game. Toure transferred from Montana where he dominated FCS, and showed he could do the same at FBS. Outstanding route runner who is fluid in and out of his breaks, creating great separation. Reportedly ran in the 4.4’s at their pro day. Not as big as advertised (6’1”, 191), but puts in great effort in blocking.
  5. Not surprised they've gone DL and OL in the 7th given that they were just short on bodies at those positions going in. Prior to the draft they only had 9 OL and 5 DL on the roster and two of the OL are strictly centers (as far as we know). As I mentioned before, day 3 is sometimes about getting depth at thin positions.
  6. I put him in after his pro day where he ran a 4.52 with an 11' 4" broad jump.
  7. Tariq Carpenter, hybrid S/LB from Georgia Tech. I had him as an UDFA. They brought him in for an in-person visit.
  8. I'm guessing that we will see GB grab a bunch of DBs in the 7th round and see who sticks. With only five DL on the roster plus Wyatt, maybe they grab another DL; Eric Johson was already picked though.
  9. Saw a stat somewhere that had the top edge rushers in terms of non-blitzing pass rush win rate. Engabare was tied for first with Hutchinson and one other player at 25%. Ebiketie was 22%. Mafe was 14%. He's your non-RAS exception for sure.
  10. I guess it does make sense, as he can play anywhere along the line and they need backups who can play multiple positions. He started as a center and then moved to LT. I'm guessing that Jenkins future may be at tackle.
  11. Props to those who called Tom!
  12. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/romeo-doubs-1.html
  13. Argh... I had Doubs in my early lists but took him out when he didn't run at the combine or pro day. Players who I'll probably regret leaving out: George Karlaftis, Channing Tindall, Romeo Doubs, Dominique Robinson, Carson Wells
  14. I had him in my Packers draft until the Packers signed O'Donnell. Stout is not only one of the best punters, he's one of the best kickoff specialists in the game as well. 59 of his 65 kickoffs last season went for touchbacks with only two returned for a total of 28 yards.
  15. Mitchell tested poorly. RAS <5. Tom is undersized and will likely need to move back to center. I don't see either being a good fit.
  16. Some interesting quotes from Gutes on yesterday's picks: On Watson: "We got a chance to bring him in on one of our 30 visits and got to spend a lot of time with him. Really felt that he was a smart kid that we feel will fit our culture.” On Rhyan: Gutekunst said that Rhyan has the size and strength to play inside, but that the team “certainly thinks he can play tackle.” On Elgton Jenkins: “Elgton will play wherever he wants. He’s that good.” If that's true, then Jenkins will want to play tackle because they get paid a lot more than guards.
  17. Dominique Robinson is still available, and the Packers haven't drafted an Edge rusher yet. The Packers had scouts at Miami(OH)'s pro day. Regarding TEs, Marcedes is back, and the Packers gave Tyler Davis a lot of snaps last year (13%, and they didn't sign him until Sept. 28th). I think they're very high on him, and to promote Dafney from the PS as fast as they did and keep him on the roster (and sometimes play him over Deguara) I think they really like him too. Dafney has been a good special teams player for them, and played 25% of the offensive snaps in the 10 games he played last year. Tonyan, Mercedes, Deguara, Davis, and Dafney cover the spectrum, While only Deguara is technically under contract in 2023, Davis and Dafney are RFAs.
  18. If RAS is the thing, Zyon McCollum and Tariq Woolen are still available. The Packers need CB depth.
  19. 6) The way that WRs are going off the board, if the Packers want a 2nd WR who can be a contributor in 2022 I wouldn't be surprised if they have to grab Samori Toure in the 4th. 7) I'm not convinced that the first round 5th year option is a good thing, particularly for QB and WR because that 5th year is going to get very expensive. A 4-year deal will put more pressure on the player to sign an extension earlier or face the unknown of free agency.
  20. A few thoughts... 1) Pickens must have been off of the Packers board after the crap he pulled this weekend. B) The Packers must be confident that two of Rhyan, Newman, and Van Lanen can play RT, or confident that one of those three can play RT and Jenkins will be back sooner rather than later. 3) LOL at whichever writer said yesterday that Walker wasn't even the best LB on his team. 4) LOL at Tony Pauline who had Logan Bruss as a 7th/UDFA. NFL.com had him with a 3rd/early 4th round grade. 5) I'll reiterate that I think that the Packers like their five TEs a lot more than most message board fans.
  21. Those teams have lots of other needs too. The Bears don't need two in the 2nd - Mooney put up over 1000 yards last year with terrible QB play, he's a budding star. They could use one starter, but need OL a lot more than WR. Minnesota needs DL and CB more than WR. Browns need DL and LB. Indianapolis needs a LT, CB, and Edge. Baltimore needs Edge, CB. Houston literally needs everything.
  22. I don't like the idea of trading three picks for one player. #53 + #132 gets to #47 #53 + #93 gets to #40 So many teams grabbed WRs yesterday (draft or trade) that there can't be that much demand left in round 2. I think they can get Pierce or Pickens (given his incident this weekend) at #47, probably #53. Speaking of Pickens and Pierce, I just found out about the incident with Pickens in a teammates car at 4am this past Sunday. Part of me wants to swap out Pierce for Pickens at #53, part of me thinks that by having Wyatt, Walker, and Stokes on the team those three can reel in Pickens as he will trust them.
  23. Off by a few picks, but... BOOM! Don’t be surprised if it’s: Devonte Wyatt, DT, Georgia – the Packers covet elite athleticism, and Wyatt demonstrated that by running a 4.77-40 at the combine. Disruptive, great lateral movement, high effort at chasing down the play. Like other Georgia defenders his stats were deceivingly low because of so many playmakers in their front seven; PFF gave him a 90.1 grade and ranked him first in positively graded play rate against the run and 10th in pass-rush win rate. DT isn’t nearly as deep as WR is, so the Packers may go with athleticism at DT and address WR later.
  24. Deion Sanders called...
  25. I could see Houston moving up to get a QB.
