  1. I've really enjoyed seeing the contributions of Isaiah Hodgins for the Giants. I was pretty high on him in the 2020 draft, he was one of my 6th round options for the Pack. Released by the Bills during the season, didn't play for the Giants until week 10 and ended up being their 3rd leading receiver in terms of yards. And on that note... what the heck happened to Kenny Golladay? Good thing the Packers didn't sign him as a FA.
  2. I rewound it and watched it again - Peterson wouldn't have gotten him but there were other defenders who likely would have.
  3. He was still 8-9 yards short of the first down marker where he dropped the pass. I don't know that he would have made the first down.
  4. I remember hearing a story about Purdy before he was the starter that he would decline to participate in team poker games on flights so that he could study the playbook. Took his preparation incredibly seriously so that when he got the opportunity he was in position to succeed.
  5. Well, as far as Nashville, the whole Broadway/2nd Ave isn't a place to relax. It's a poop show, but interesting people watching. You can watch trucks pulling hot tubs full of young women in "cheeky" bathing suits drive up and down that stretch. The 12th Avenue South neighborhood is more relaxing - a number of nice bars/restaurants/shops with outdoor patios. One of my best friends who is from WI has a couple of apartments on AirBnB/VRBO in that neighborhood right across the street from Sevier Park. Mexico - sounds like Tulum or Puerto Escondido is your place. One of my team members is from Oaxaca and owns property in PE. It's still under the radar, like Tulum was 10-15 years ago, and cheap. Nice hotels with a pool and a rooftop terrace are $40/night. No big corporate hotels, that's why it's cheap, but it's a big international surfing destination. You can fly into PE, connecting in Mexico City. I have not heard good things about Miami lately - thug central. Another place that's close to you that might fit what you're looking for is Pacific Beach/Ocean Beach in the San Diego area.
  6. If Rodgers is back, Jones isn't going anywhere. Jones was 9th in the NFL in total yards from scrimmage this past season. The only players ahead of him were Josh Jacobs, Derrick Henry, Christian McCaffrey, Justin Jefferson, Nick Chubb, Tyreek Hill, Saquon Barkley, and Austin Ekeler. Jones was ahead of Davante Adams, A.J. Brown, Dalvin Cook, Travis Etienne, Stefon Diggs, CeeDee Lamb, Alvin Kamara, and... everybody else.
  7. There's a lot of hype about the transfers so far. The two WRs from Cincinnati were rated lower than the two UW WR recruits from that same class. Yes, Williams and the QBs were rated highly but the QBs didn't see the field this past year; we don't know if they are going to be the next Joe Burrow or the next Ryan Hillinski. UW got good transfers in last year too - Shaw, Latu, Dort, Lewis & Clark all were starters or 2nd string.
  8. Basketball is third fiddle to baseball and football there, that's why basketball will never be great. But they and their boosters operate like fan message boards - one underperforming season and the grass is greener on the other side, fire the coach and on to the next bright shiny object. Money puts a lot of pressure on the AD to make the decisions that the boosters want. Money also brings people in who are just looking for a paycheck - coaches and players.
  9. Depends on where you live. If you live in a densely populated area in a building with a lot of people who have Prime or on the same block as a lot of people who have Prime, you get almost everything in 2-4 days anyway depending on which warehouse it's coming from because the trucks are always on your block. I don't have Prime and I ordered a couple of things on Monday; they said delivery between Saturday and Wednesday of next week, but everything is coming tomorrow. I can't think of a time when I ordered something from Amazon and it took more than 5 days to arrive. I bought a physical Amazon gift card as a birthday present for my nephew and it came the next day.
  10. One of the biggest things from last year was that the few receivers they had were out there for almost every play. They didn't have the depth to rotate players in/out, or just chose not to, and I think that was a big factor in not being able to get open - not having fresh legs. I think that's been an issue in prior years as well. Longo has said that he wants the WR room to be 10 deep so that he can rotate guys in and out to keep them fresh. Hard to do that when you only rotate four WRs in all game.
  11. Problem is they only have nine picks, and three are in the seventh round which you can't really count on to contribute. With their first six picks they are going to have to find at least one S, TE, WR, DE (Clark, Slaton, and Ford are NTs, only DE is Wyatt, Slayton was on the practice squad all year for a reason and Ford never saw game action all season for a reason), and Edge rusher. In the 7th there's a good chance they might have to double-up on WR, S, and TE. That's eight picks spoken for. In fact, if Amos isn't back they are going to have to double up on safety, if Lazard/Cobb aren't back they will have to double up on WR. Sounds like any future that Savage has is at nickel. All other positions are a luxury.
  12. https://twitter.com/jaypo1961/status/1612918304993058835 Edit: I give up on trying to post tweets.
  13. And defensive end - Lowry and Reed are free agents.
  14. Eh, I'd say it was more like a Big Ten team beat itself in the playoff.
  15. I don't know that we know that playing is more important that being close to home and getting a good education for Burkett. And Locke and Evers threw a combined total of one pass (that was incomplete) in 2022. Yes, they were 4-star recruits, but at this point we don't know if they are closer to a Joe Burrow transfer or a Hunter Johnson/Ryan Hillinski transfer. Those two were 4-star recruits too. (Actually, Johnson was a 5-star according to 24/7 composite.) The fact that both Evers and Locke were accepted makes me less excited and more concerned that the coaches aren't completely sold on either one.
  16. Brad Johnson was still playing in the league at age 40. He had a career year the year the Bucs won the Super Bowl (22 TD to 6 INT, and that Bucs defense was also one of the 10 best in the history of the NFL), but an average QB doesn't play 15 years in the league. The bigger point is that 2002 Tampa defense was a top-10 defense in the history of the league.
  17. Tampa never made the Super Bowl with Dilfer at QB. The Ravens did, and that was 22 years ago.
  18. Foles started 3 games that season. Wentz started 13 and had 33 TDs, 7 INTs, and a rating of 101.9. Led the league in QBR and was #3 in the MVP voting that year. They don't get into the playoffs without Wentz. The other two are... not good examples. Stafford threw for almost 5,000 yards and 41 TDs that year. The other is in the Hall of Fame.
  19. In 2021 A.J. Dillon was 19th among all RBs in total yards from scrimmage. Impressive given that his teammate Aaron Jones was 14th among all RBs. In 2022 he was 27th among all RBs in total yards from scrimmage. Impressive given that his teammate Aaron Jones was 7th among all RBs, 9th overall. Pretty good for a backup. I think he's a little better than "just a guy".
  20. What coach has done well without a good QB other than Billick and the 2000 Ravens?
  21. Apparently Coach Longo sent out a tweet suggesting five new offensive additions this weekend. Huber (OT - Cincinnati, 1st Team All-AAC), Renfro (OC - Cincinnati, 1st Team All-AAC), Nathanial Vakos (K - Ohio, freshman All-American), and supposedly two WRs.
  22. It's a very tradeable contract - but not until after June 1st. Perhaps the Raiders will be dumb enough to trade two first round picks for him.
  23. The Quay Walker incident... I get that the rules are the rules, but the officials need to review those incidents on replay like the NBA does before determining who get what fouls. The Lions trainer/coached pushed him first, and he responded with a push that wasn't very hard - if Walker shoved him with any effort he would have launched him off of his feet. The Lions should have been the ones assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
  24. The Lions have won 7 of the last 9 - with one of those losses being a close loss to the Bills - for a reason. Their young talent is starting to figure it out. They've had top-10 picks four consecutive years and have drafted ahead of the Packers every year since 2017. They should be better. That, and Joe Barry needs to go. And Aaron Rodgers is no longer a good cold-weather QB.
