  1. How in the heck do you pronounce this guy's first name?
  2. Humidity is very high, thicker air, more friction against the seams.
  3. In 1983 Tony Armas had 36 homers while hitting .218 with a .707 OPS. Closest guy I could think of as comparable off the top of my head. I went back and looked up Gorman Thomas' OPS and was shocked at how high it was during his time with the Brewers (except for 1983).
  4. Not Alex Mills, he's out of the game. That might be the best news.
  5. Keep in mind, the heat index today is 105 here in Chicago and winds are blowing at 20mph. Can't be easy pitching on a day like today.
  6. Nice to see him trusting his 97.5mph fastball up. Seemed like he wasn't trusting his fastball earlier in the season.
  7. Tornado warning for Kane and DuPage counties
  8. I'm in Wicker Park. Do you have a window that faces west?
  9. As of right now, 90% chance of rain at 7pm and 8pm. Down to 35% at 9pm. High probability of at the minimum being delayed if not postponed.
  10. Wiemer suddenly with a similar slash line and overall stat line to Joe Gray Jr. Over his last four games: 12-17, 4 HR, 6 XBH, 26 total bases That being said, it was all against the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers
  11. I'd blame them both on defense well before the bullpen. They definitely shot themselves in the foot both times. And managerial gaffes. Not putting in JBJ as a defensive replacement, not playing the infield at DP depth in the 10th.
  12. Need to get these bullpen arms back. The positive is that the Giants' bullpen has to cover (at least) nine innings today. Will be gassed tomorrow.
  13. Wow, not sure which is the bigger error at this point - Avi in the field or not playing at double-play depth in the 10th.
  14. They have Topa, Ashby, and Bettinger (and maybe even File) as options to fortify the staff with the latter two possible spot-starters. I know most aren't real high on Bettinger, but Ashby was pretty awful in his first start too and with the right matchup against the right team/starter (think: gutted Cubs lineup) I think he can give them a chance.
  15. Just noticed that Mass has over 55,000 posts on this site. Talk about a first-ballot BF.net Hall-of-Famer... (Anyone who doesn't vote for him as a first-ballot guy on account of "principle" or "history" gets a two-year ban.)
  16. The J&J vaccine efficacy is more like 66%, but the efficacy against hospitalization/death is almost 100%. There is some evidence that it is not as effective against the Delta variant, which accounts for >90% of new positive tests.
  17. According to a reliable source, Tucker was telling players to trash Gard in social media. Players were smart enough to not do that. Nobody is going to hire Tucker as an assistant, much less a coach.
  18. Reds lost at home yesterday to the Twins. No different than the Brewers losing to the Pirates at home. The Reds will occasionally lose to bad teams too. They won't go undefeated.
  19. Dugouts are open-air, well-ventilated areas in outdoor environments (technically unless the roofs and panels are all closed, but I don't think that's been the case recently). It's indoors (clubhouse, restaurants, etc.) that is the concern.
