  1. And another beauty of a strike call on strike 2 to Hiura. Then he swings through a meatball right down the middle for strike 3.
  2. Thanks, guys. Unfortunately, it's a Google Sheets document created by my boss and it's part of a summary tab. (No, it isn't breeds of dogs, it's proprietary, but the breeds of dogs example is very comparable to what I need to do.) From what you've said, I think it's just easier to create a function with 10 countifs. Good to know about Alteryx, might be time to buy stock in them.
  3. Trying to count multiple values (think "or") in a column in Google Sheets. Not multiple conditions - multiple values - without having to use a whole bunch of countif statements. There has to be a simple way of doing that. Google has been no help at all because every search return is multiple conditions not multiple values. Think of a column of data where 1000 people list the breed of dog that they own and I'm trying to count how many there are of any of 10 different breeds. I'm not trying to count how many of each breed; just how many there are of any of 10 different breeds. Hopefully that makes sense, because it doesn't to Google.
  4. Rarely, unless it's a player who needs to waive a no-trade clause.
  5. Rogers isn't a rental, though - he's under control through 2022. a 1.5 year rental...lol Ashby could very well be in our rotation next year, for the next decade. I don't want to trade him or Small for a guy that we have for 1.5 years. What would you give up for Rogers, and if you were the Twins would you take that? I'd be very surprised if the Twins couldn't get a top-100 prospect for Rogers or very close to top-100 with one or two other significant pieces. As others have statistically pointed out, he's only a step below Hader. I'd also be very surprised if Ashby's control and command improve enough to warrant a significant role on the Brewers next year. It would have to be a Burnes-like improvement.
  6. That is INSANE. I paid $30 for 1/2" OSB sheets last August and I thought I was getting ripped off at the time. I also accidentally bought 5 too many which are sitting unused, might have been a better investment than the stock market! I can already see that people's spending patterns are going to rapidly shift back to travel and social gatherings in the second half of 2021 so I bet the market will correct. Lumber futures are now 1/3rd of what they were two months ago. Pre-pandemic they were $200-$400 and now are down to $550. The Home Depot nearest me - according to Home Depot's website - has over 1,000 sheets of 7/16 OSB. Retail prices haven't started coming down yet, but I read (and see) that inventories are building and prices will start dropping soon.
  7. Rogers isn't a rental, though - he's under control through 2022.
  8. With the Mets putting deGrom on the IL today I wonder if Washington holds on to their pieces. They're only five back, but have three teams ahead of them and the Wild Card is probably well out of reach. Too bad if they do, because they have a couple of bullpen pieces in Daniel Hudson and Brad Hand that would look nice in the Brewers bullpen.
  9. I think the Twins make a great trade partner, but I don't see Buxton being the piece. Taylor Rogers would be the ideal acquisition, but will be costly since he has another year of control. But if the Twins are going to move him they need to move him now because he's a free agent after 2022. If Rogers is too expensive, there's another ideal piece to add who shouldn't be expensive and it's a familiar name - Caleb Thielbar. Great peripherals this year (12.4 K/9, 2.7 BB/9) and a very nice FIP (3.35). Also had very nice numbers last year and the walks have come down. They need another LHP in the bullpen. Funny thing is, Thielbar is 34 and still has a couple of years of control left. For Rogers... would you trade Ashby+ (one of Lutz/Rodriguez/Bello)? What about Ashby plus Zamora?
  10. I think brewers888 is referring to McCalvy's article on 2/4/21, which contradicts the article that you linked: “The legs are coming,” he said. “They’re not where I want them to be, but they will get there before it’s time to play.” From a physical standpoint, Cain concedes he is in nowhere near as good a place as this time last year. His running consisted mostly of chasing his three boys, who have celebrated birthdays Nos. 3, 5 and 6 since the end of a Brewers season which Cain followed via television and FaceTime with teammates. Due to pandemic restrictions, the baseball facilities at OU were closed to outsiders -- even Major Leaguers in possession of a World Series ring -- so Cain didn’t see much in the way of live pitching before Wednesday, when he planned to stand in the batter’s box and track pitches during live batting practice.
  11. Well, whaddya know, Brewers start Houser, come back from three down and win. Sometimes trusting the analytics and the long view works.
  12. Not sure if they have these where you are, but a friend of mine in Austin is a member of a men's group. I think it might be affiliated with a church but not sure.
  13. Giannis? I know, you're not in WI.
  14. Brewers are still up five in the win column. No need to panic yet; let the Reds burn through their rotation trying to catch up.
  15. Lutz is completely expendable to me, I wouldn't mind it at all Yeah, at this point I'd gladly trade Lutz for a two-month rental of a bat with a career OPS just under .800.
  16. Certainly not debating the time between pitches (although this data was for two specific games, so it is a bit of a small sample and could be attributed to the specific pitchers/hitters in the 2014 game), but one thing I have been wondering is how the number of foul balls in today's game compares to the number of foul balls from years ago. It seems like, and I have no data to prove this, there are a lot more foul balls now because of better pitching and less concern about strikeouts. Foul balls take up a lot of time (fielders chasing if they are close to or in the field of play, getting the ball back to the pitcher, getting balls to the ump if he is out, etc.), much more so than the return of an inaction pitch, and result in longer at-bats. Also, anecdotally, stadiums have reduced foul territory to get fans closer to the field (and thus increase those seat prices), which would suggest more foul balls out of play and not caught, resulting in longer at-bats.
  17. What can people tell me about Ashton McGee? Is this a guy that we should start keeping an eye on, or is he just an advanced hitter for low A ball and really needs a bump up to face tougher competition? Interesting stat line. He's hitting .333, walked over 15% of the time, and has struck out in 1/3rd of his plate appearances, resulting in a ridiculous .520 BABIP. He's only 0.6 years older than the average age for the league. College hitters tend to mash rookie ball, but low-A is similar to a Power-5 college baseball conference, so he's not feasting on younger, inferior players. But that K rate tempers my enthusiasm for him quite a bit.
  18. His last start was 7/9 and he pinch hit on 7/13. Probably just dealing with a minor injury or something. Or maybe he's looked so bad in LF they are waiting to for a series with a DH to start playing him regularly again. Taxi squad?
  19. Have you seen the girls who go to ASU? I'd be pretty excited about being a baseball player there too.
  20. Looking at the Brewers draft, I assume that their strategy (and if so, a good one) is that by going college early (and possible under-slot signs) they have the flexibility to use that remaining bonus pool on any of the 11-20 HS picks. Yes, they could have taken the HS picks in earlier rounds where there were bigger slot values, but then that bonus slot can only be used by that player. This way, if, say, their 11th round pick doesn't want to sign for what they have available they can shift that bonus pool to their 12th/13th/14th/etc pick. Also puts pressure on the kids to sign if they want to by a "first come, first serve" approach to available bonus pool. Shifts the balance of power to the Brewers and away from the draft pick.
  21. Having a close family member who used to work for Thedacare, the impression I got is that you are much better off going to Froedert. Best wishes. Know that she has a much better chance of surviving longer than not having the surgery, and that you're doing the right thing.
  22. Well, they do say to make noise so that you don't sneak up on and startle a bear.
