  1. Wondering what products people have had success with regarding buffing out paint transfer on a car.
  2. Not sure how many spots will be open, but if I were to force rank them - with the caveat that it's easier to hide pitchers, especially lefties, than position players on a 25-man roster: Ortiz Medeiros Supak Kirby QTC (this is the end of the "must-protect" list) Ponce D. Williams Derby Stokes Bickford Perrin Gatewood Harber No way they'll have that many spaces available. Would be nice to package a few of the borderline guys in a trade; better than losing them. With so many bad teams this year I think a few more Rule 5 guys will be kept next year than usual. If I were DS I'd offer two of anyone on that list between Derby and Harber in front of the Rays and see if that could rent Ramos.
  3. I think it's the other way around - Wilkerson or Woodruff starts the first game, then gets optioned after the game and Miley activated for the 2nd game. Miley stays up with the team.
  4. Pretty much spot on, but I'd take out Brown as the Brewers are very high on him and perhaps add Phillips as the O's are set to lose Adam Jones so a ML-ready CF might interest them. It would also have to be one of Dubon/Arcia and not both. Toss in their choice of Wilkerson or Bubba Derby as that PTBNL, maybe an upgrade to Supak or Medeiros if the Brewers get to the World Series. Ortiz + Dubon + Derby to rent Machado? I'd be all over that. The great thing is that the Cubs are listed as having the least appealing offer. Not surprising as they don't have squat in the minors. They'd have to part with Russell or Happ.
  5. Likely looking ahead to the DH. They do get to call up an additional player for a DH - does the 10-day wait apply for that extra person or do they waive it? Likely though that they call up the extra starter for the first game and send him down for an extra reliever for the 2nd game. Pretty good performance from Wilkerson considering he didn't get in until 3:30am due to flight delays and his luggage didn't make it until the 3rd inning - he had to use someone else's glove and cleats. Might explain the first inning - different shoes can easily throw you off a bit, especially for something so precise as pitching.
  6. Foltynewicz has always had great stuff but took him three years at the ML level to put it together. Keep that in mind when evaluating the young pitching the Brewers have, particularly Woodruff and Peralta.
  7. I'd like to think that Saladino is the Brewers version of Chris Taylor where they saw a guy on another team and identified a mechanical adjustment to make him a better hitter. It's been reported that the Brewers did exactly this with Saladino - the White Sox coached him to get rid of his leg kick, but the Brewers brought it back, and he's not the .610 OPS hitter he was with the White Sox. I don't think he's the .996 OPS hitter that he currently is with the Brewers, but I don't think I see anyone else who is significantly better that wouldn't require a significant investment in trade, with the possible exception of Asdrubal Cabrera. If Miller and Villar can platoon at 2B they can neutralize each other's weaknesses and the combined effort will be a plus offensive 2B. Defense... maybe not. Saladino is the starting SS, Perez is the backup, Miller the emergency. Miller/Villar platoon at 2B, Perez backs them up, Orf will likely go when Cain is back or if they need another bullpen arm.
  8. Remember, we were told last weekend that the Brewers would no longer be in first place by Monday and we've been told all year that the Cubs are better. If you watch other teams, they don't have holes anywhere in their lineups, only the Brewers.
  9. If not for a great play by Inciarte, Hernan could easily have hit for the cycle.
  10. I think that one's on Perez. The pitcher can't see Braun - he's left-handed, so Braun is behind him. Perez went before the pitcher started his motion; he stopped, and the pitcher knew that if Perez was going then Braun had to be going and turned around and got Braun.
  11. A reminder of how random the international free agent market can be - the Braves signed Albies for $350K, Acuna for $100K, and Camargo for $42,000. Would be nice to add a few of those guys to the system for those amounts.
  12. No, this is punishment for the incident last year, not his 2nd.
  13. So apparently I was the origin of the #FreeNateOrf hashtag. Thanks to JR for a)figuring this out and b)talking to me about it, and about Nate. That was the first Twitter hashtag use. But who was the first person here to say, "Free Nate Orf"? I tried the Search function, but only goes back a little over a year.
  14. This makes me feel better. Only one hard hit ball, an error, and a couple of seeing-eye grounders.
  15. Interesting that Zack Brown picked up for Diplan to finish the first game. And he did so in typical Zack Brown fashion. I'm more worried about Houser - 0.2 IP, 35 pitches. Hope it was the pitch count.
  16. Only 21 pitches for Hader. Have to think he goes three innings, unless the Brewers have a chance to blow it open if his spot comes up this inning.
  17. History is not on the side of 1st round picks who refuse to sign. I hope Turang realizes that. Given that it's been three years since a first round pick hasn't signed (and it cost Funkhouser ~$1M by not doing so), I'd put the odds of Turang not signing at around 2% (meaning 98% chance he signs).
  18. If you zoom out from scrutinizing every single at bat and start watching other team's games you can see the big picture.
  19. Guerra is just outside of "qualifying" (IP/team game) for stats titles, but among NL pitchers with at least 80 IP he was 9th in the NL in ERA heading into the game. If a couple of pitchers back out he has a chance to be named to the All-Star team. Position players get voted in, but pitchers get selected by the manager so there is much less "fame" bias. The Brewers are in first place, and right now I give Hader a 98% chance, Aguilar a 60% chance, and Guerra and Jeffress a 15% chance. That Brad Miller, he's starting to look like a decent pickup.
  20. Might very well be the opposite - the Brewers know exactly what they have left to work with.
  21. Can't - if they don't sing him, they lose that slot value from their bonus pool.
  22. Chad McClanahan now with a .952 OPS. Still only 20 years old. OBP almost .100 higher than his BA so he's taking walks. Back on the prospect radar. Domingo Santana with a .881 OPS and .419 OBP in his short stint at AAA so far. [sarcasm]But he's struggling and can't hit AAA pitching... or so I was told.[/sarcasm]
