  1. Router is 3 months old, and I don't have room to set it up anywhere else.
  2. That's the thing - they don't say what the range is with wifi routers, only bandwidth. Heard varying things about range extenders, some good, some not good.
  3. Can't remember the name of the other tech advice thread so I'm starting a new one. I just moved into a new place, and it's long and narrow (think 17' wide by 100' long), living room on one end and master bedroom on the other (kitchen, 2nd bedroom, 2nd bathroom, laundry room, HVAC/hot water heater closet in between). The WiFi router is in the living room, but it's not powerful enough to get to the master bedroom and I don't want it in the 2nd bedroom for multiple reasons. What would people recommend as far as a stronger signal? I don't need more bandwidth - I don't have four people streaming TV/movies at once - I just need a longer range.
  4. You cannot force anyone to have surgery. Players always have the last say as to whether or not they have surgery.
  5. 1) The one constant about forecasting is that all forecasts are wrong, the question is by how much and in which direction. B) [sarcasm]You mean like Tommy Milone? Yeah, those non-roster invitees are better than Garza.[/sarcasm] 3) Bring up one of those half-dozen to replace Davies. 4) I don't care what someone's salary is - I'm not writing the checks. I care about winning.
  6. (Fixed the above for you.) You really cannot see that Garza was injured in 2015 and 2016, and even so put up 1.4 fWAR in 2016? As for how much he's paid, it has been estimated that 1 WAR in free agency is worth $7-9M. Taking the midpoint, he was worth $11.2M last year and was paid $12.5M. Free agent starting pitching is expensive; please accept that reality. I'm sorry, but this idea that Garza "sucks" is just patently false. And if Garza puts up a 4.25 ERA over the next month and a half... well, that's the equivalent of a low #2/high #3 starter because a 4.25 ERA, among players with at least 60 IP in the NL, would currently rank 26th. I'm sorry if the stats don't fit your narrative.
  7. Not a cent more than the collective bargaining agreement requires the Brewers to pay him. If he was a free agent after last season how much would he be making now? Irrelevant. Then what does that make Davies? You know him personally, or is that your interpretation of what you read in the media? Is that fact, or is that confirmation bias?
  8. He reached a pitch limit - he was up to 28 pitches in the first, and remember there are also limits on individual innings, not sure he would have gone much more than an inning regardless. We have been told in quotes the Brewer beat guys have collected from front office personnel that Williams is fine. Chock it up to ultra-conservatism on the Brewers' part - can't argue with that at this time. I know he's on a pitch limit. I'm talking about only getting one out and giving up 3 walks, 3 hits, and 5 earned runs. That's not his MO.
  9. Came here specifically to see the criticism of Garza because he didn't throw 7 shutout innings of 2-hit ball. For chrissakes, it was a quality start. He is close to the last thing to complain about today. Looking forward to the same roasting of Davies whenever he gives up a run, since Davies has been much worse. [sarcasm]Can't wait to see Davies optioned.[/sarcasm]
  10. What happened to Taylor Williams yesterday? After missing a couple of weeks, then the performance yesterday... I have a dreadful feeling that he is not right.
  11. Burnes being Burnes. I hate to rank him on the prospect list really high after just one year, but he's just flat out dealing and doing it at AA now. Meanwhile Ray with a double and a walk, but heading into this game had a .719 OPS and a .645 OPS in June (and a 43% K rate in June). It's not like Ray is super young for the league, he's only a half year younger than league average. It's nice that he hits a lot of line drives, but he's striking out 32% of the time... in A-ball. If Ray were doing this at AA at age 22 I wouldn't be as concerned, but it's A-ball. Pitchers are only going to get better in AA. Meanwhile, Trent Clark has a .553 OPS in June and is down to .672 on the season. It's nice that he's walking a lot, but a .216 BA isn't going to cut it. Yes, he's young for the league - so send him down a level where he isn't so young.
  12. What we "gave up" for Will Smith was Nori Aoki... (Assume you mean "got"...)
  13. The Bucks want long athletes who can stretch the floor. Not entirely surprising.
  14. Quite possibly... That's the one I was trying to remember... couldn't remember who the SS was that turned it. And no folks, that's not Yuni-trolling, that is one of the most spectacular double-plays I've ever seen, both the behind the back flip and the barehanded catch by Weeks.
  15. It's definitely bad, but I have to think it's an aberration and not a trend because he was so good defensively last year. He's basically the exact same player he was last year on average only the defense hasn't been good. Baseball is a mental game. Struggles at the plate can easily carry into the field and vice versa.
  16. And the irony is, wouldn't it make sense for the A's to have their AAA affiliate in Fresno? There must be something really bad about Fresno/their ownership that would make the A's want to put their AAA team 2000 miles away.
  17. If Garza was total crap last year (4.49 xFIP, .07 fWAR/GS), then what was Davies (3.94 xFIP, 0.1 fWAR/GS), partial crap? A small turd?
  18. Jake Arrieta had done nothing in his 3.5 year career, and had a 7.23 ERA and had a walk rate of 6.5, when the Cubs took him in trade for Feldman at the age of 27. I don't think the Cubs regret asking for him in a trade instead of waiting for him to be released. Not saying the same thing will happen with Peralta, but there are lots of similarities between him and Arrieta through age 27.
  19. This seriously happened tonight. Can't find phone, look through entire house (only 1400 sq. ft., one level). Start panicking, think I may have left it on the train. Call Sprint, see if they can locate it. Nope, but they direct me towards Android Device Manager. Try to log into Android Device Manager... won't accept Google username and password. Google says, "We don't recognize this device." I've owned this computer for seven years! "We don't recognize this device. We will need to send a verification to your phone." I don't have my phone!! Select "Can't enter verification" option. Select "can't access my phone". Google says, "Sorry, you will need to verify through your phone." I DON'T HAVE MY PHONE - THAT'S WHY I'M TRYING TO USE ANDROID DEVICE MANAGER!!! Try to log into Google. "Sorry, we don't recognize this device." But my username and password are correct, AND I'VE OWNED THIS COMPUTER FOR SEVEN YEARS!!! "Sorry, we don't recognize this device." Search Google for alternate verification, asks city I was born in. Whew, I know that. Nope. "Sorry, we can't verify it is you. You will need to verify via your phone." I DON'T HAVE MY PHONE!!!! Find a way to verify through another email address. OK, that will work. Get the verification code, enter it, Google says, "We will get back to you within 1-3 hours." Are you @#$@!%&%$#@$ me??? Aha - work laptop, I've logged into Gmail there before. Able to log into Gmail via work laptop. Able to launch Android Device Manager, able to ring phone, find it on top of the fridge. Is it because I logged into Gmail from my work computer that I could no longer log into my account through my personal computer? If so, that's ridiculous - don't people have multiple devices? I have an old desktop, a newer laptop (that sucks so I still use the older desktop), a work laptop, and my phone. And I can only log into the account on one device? And how the hell are people supposed to verify through their phone when they select the option THAT THEY DON'T HAVE OR CAN'T USE THEIR PHONE?!?!? And then there's Sprint, who has asked me for additional verification THREE TIMES IN THE LAST THREE DAYS when I've tried to login to my account...
  20. Yeah, I've been trying to understand among the criticism of Peralta and how much Garza "sucks", why Davies has been immune so far.
  21. How does that correlate time-series wise to Peralta's disastrous inning?
  22. Blazek and Wang need to be in the Brewers bullpen, now. Great to see Taylor Williams back. Only 27 pitches, so you knew it had to be something with the arm.
  23. I'll trade you for the 34 Skip & Shannon promos that I have to watch on the Fox Sports Go app.
  24. From age 24-32, Suppan posted a bWAR of ~18.4. I'll take that from every 2nd round pick.
  25. Yep. It's more about pitches per inning. When you get to rest between innings and are only throwing 10-15 pitches per inning you can go 110-120 because you get to rest 7-8 half-innings. When you're throwing 20 pitches per inning that's when you can't go much past 100 because you only get to rest 4 half-innings.
