  1. Why would he need to start tomorrow? Start, no, but I could see a Jungmann/Espino swap so the Brewers have a somewhat fresh long reliever who could go 4-5 tomorrow if needed (injury, extra innings).
  2. Yah, that isn't happening. Unfortunately not even Woodruff era. Woodruff should be off the DL soon. Could easily be back in 5 days.
  3. Rankings don't necessarily correlate to what a kid will sign for. If you have a kid from a family that's not very well-off, it's harder for that kid and his family to pass up a couple hundred thousand dollars (plus college paid for down the road) versus a kid from an upper-middle class family. Also depends on how good of a student the kid is. If the kid doesn't really like school or has learning challenges, it might not take as much to sign him versus a kid with a 3.9 GPA.
  4. You have no idea. Sunday evening I'm leaving to go get groceries. The garage is off of the alley, and the alley is narrow so it is of course only one way. The end of the alley that connects to the street on your way out clearly has a "Do Not Enter" sign on it. But if you live on that end of the alley... you know, you can't drive to the other end of the block and enter the alley at the proper place, you have to enter the alley where it says "Do Not Enter" and drive the wrong way. I'm trying to leave the alley, and sure enough, coming the wrong way is a woman in a black BMW. I stop, throw my hands up, like, "What the hell?" She sits there and does nothing. I go over to her window and ask, "Did you see the sign that says, Do Not Enter?" She says, "I've done this a million times and I'm not moving." She puts her car in park and shuts it off. We have a staredown for five minutes, but I don't have time for that crap so I budge and back up. As soon as I get to the alley exit, sure enough, there comes a police car. All I had to do was go out to the street and wait another minute and I might have been able to get her ticketed for going the wrong way, failure to yield the right of way, and parking in an alley (which is a $250 fine). I'd appreciate the police officers on the forum to chime in on their thoughts.
  5. Have you looked at his home/road splits? I'm not sure going off of a 14 IP split is really going to be that meaningful. He has had 2 absolute disaster games and they both happened at home, who is to say one couldn't have happened on the road and this is just sequencing. So going off of 26.2 IP is meaningful, but 14.1 isn't. Ok...
  6. I haven't watched the end of the game...but that seems silly if Aguilar was available. Lefty/righty matchup. For his career, Aguilar (smallish sample) has an OPS of .707 vs RHP, Vogt has a career OPS of .750 vs RHP. Statistically, it was slightly better to go with Vogt.
  7. For as bad as Broxton looked a month ago, he looks good now. Great AB there to extend the inning.
  8. I wonder how many times Lorenzen has had to pee in a cup this year.
  9. Make that 9 for his last 9 with a walk. That's incredible at any level. I wonder what the record is for consecutive ABs with getting on base with at least 80% being hits.
  10. Ivan DeJesus is 8 for his last 8 with a walk.
  11. Have you looked at his home/road splits?
  12. My guess is that they'll target three guys with $500K each ($1.2M/3 = $400K plus the $125K), unless they think they can get Campbell for $1.3M. My bets are Layer, Morales, and one or both of Ward/Castillo.
  13. Sell high on Sogard? Who's going to give anything of value for a 31-year-old who was signed to a minor league deal with a NRI the off-season before? This small sample isn't fooling anyone - he's a career .312 OBP/.644 OPS player with almost 1500 career PAs.
  14. I think you are getting a little too caught up in a grand 14 ABs this year. He couldn't make it past AA as a hitter and was converted to a pitcher. I don't think he will ever be seriously considered as a hitter if he gets to the MLB level. I wasn't referring to Ramirez. I was wondering, in general terms, if it is possible for somebody to be a 2-way player as a closer. This comes off of a debate in the draft forum about McKay, and if it is possible to be a 2-way player anymore.
  15. Nick Ramirez is settling in as a pitcher just fine. Walks were a little high in April and May, but in June has a line of 17.1 IP, 15 H, 1 BB, 12 K. Not surprising, as he was the closer at Cal-Fullerton, and in 2011 put up a line of 25.1 IP, 15 H, 10 BB, 33 K with 16 saves. It would be tough to be a 2-way player as a starter, but what about as a closer? Might be tough warming up, but if you know you're coming in for the 9th you could run out to the bullpen between innings and warm up during the prior half-inning... as long as your spot in the order doesn't come up.
  16. 2003 Marlins. Start 16-22, hire old man Jack McKeon who goes 75-49, ride the tails of the youngest pitching staff ever to win a World Series (average age 26.1). Fun fact - that pitching staff included former Brewers Chad Fox and, 1996 Brewers draft pick, Allen Levrault.
  17. Ortiz pitching for the first time since June 8th, followed by Perrin pitching for the first time since May 19th. How did we not notice Perrin's absence?
  18. Brewcrewball is reporting Dubon to AAA
  19. Three pages and several days in and no one has mentioned splits? Vogt OPS vs. RHP - career .750, 2016 .748 Vogt OPS vs. LHP - career .587, 2016 .549 Pina for his career is almost exactly equal (.745 vs .741) but it's somewhat of a smallish sample. As long as Vogt only plays vs. RHP he'll be a decent add. And I thought Perez was the emergency catcher?
  20. I can check channels by logging into the router as an admin (192.168.0.1). Mine was set to auto; the most common ones nearby are on 11, 1, 6, 9. I've set mine to 7, but I've heard that some channels are better than others regardless of how many others are on that channel. And yes, it's a fairly densely populated area. Probably an average of 6-8 people (3-4 units, 2-3 people per unit) and 3-4 WiFi systems per 30' wide lot.
  21. No, it was not supplied by the cable company, I purchased it from Best Buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/motorola-n300-router-with-docsis-3-0-cable-modem-gray/4811900.p?skuId=4811900 It is 2.4GHz.
  22. It's a combo cable modem and router (which is probably half of my problem, but didn't have room for two separate devices). You have to run the coax cable into it. Thus is it not designed to be mounted on the wall. You might be able to, but it will stick out 10". The 2nd bedroom is also only 11x10, so there really isn't room for anything to be sticking off of the walls. Again, the goal is to keep things as clean as possible.
  23. Building is 10 years old. It's a 4-flat (four floors, one unit per floor) and I'm on the top floor. It's next to the TV/stereo equipment because the signal coming up here was weak and Comcast had to install a signal amplifier just to be able to watch TV. I want to keep my house "clean" and not have cat5 or any other wiring strewn about. The signal amplifier and subsequent cable is creating enough of a mess as is. I'm just going to try a range extender I can plug into an outlet in the hallway. Looks to be the cleanest way to do it, but I'm not sure I can do WiFi calling with these. We'll see.
