  1. Straight up for Peralta in a dual change-of-scenery trade.
  2. Jeffress for Peralta
  3. Best game as a pro for Jungmann? 7 IP, 3 H, 0 BB, 7 K
  4. These awful Brewers just took three of four from the Cards at their place.
  5. Carroll sounds like Jeff Cirillo-type upside. Not bad.
  6. What really surprises me about the picks in the first five rounds is the hitters, specifically that they all hit RH. Stearns definitely values balance in the order and has specifically made moves to have more LH/RH balance. While they did go LH heavy the last two years (Ray, Erceg, Clark), it's harder to find LH hitters than RH. The thing that I wonder about the most with HS players is what kind of coaching have they had up to this point? Even kids who play on premium travel teams and in showcases, you know there are much better coaches in the pros. Even college - they are not finished products by any stretch because college coaches are trying to win games, not develop players. They still bunt guys over from 1st to 2nd.
  7. Seems to be more of the "sunk cost" approach, as the guys with the lowest committed salary are the ones shown the door first. [sarcasm]Tells you what you need to know about that MBA program. The first thing you learn in B-school is you don't make decisions based on sunk costs.[/sarcasm]
  8. So who is this year's Corbin Burnes? College pitcher who slides into the 3rd/4th round. I'm going to go with Trevor Stephan of Arkansas.
  9. I'm just going to pretend that Burnes was the Brewers first round pick and Ray was the fourth round pick and be at peace with it.
  10. But if OFs are easy to come by, what demand will there be? Econ 101 - price is a function of supply and demand. If supply is really high... demand needs to be really high, otherwise price will below.
  11. Carlson or Crouse and I'm really happy
  12. They are in the same conference as Long Beach State and UC-Fullerton, who are squaring off for the right to go to the College World Series. Cal-Poly and UC-Santa Barbara are usually no slouches either. They've also played Oregon, Houston, TCU, UCLA, and USC non-conference. He ain't been playing lesser competition.
  13. I have a feeling someone falls on the sword tomorrow, likely Torres. Too much sunk cost in Feliz, too much potential in Peralta. One of Wang or Wilkerson added; not sure they want to burn an option year for Woodruff for one start when they don't have to add him. Maybe if Garza/Guerra is traded and they have a permanent spot open, but not for one start. Pretty solid guess that Suter is added as the extra guy for the DH. Perhaps they keep Torres for mop-up duty in the DH, and then DFA him and keep Suter up. Wonder if there's a "change of scenery" swap out there for Peralta. Maybe bring back Jeffress, as he is scuffling in Texas. Actually, that might make a pretty darned good and even swap, give or take a bag of balls or two. Rangers have used nine different starting pitchers; they try to resurrect Wily as a starter and the Brewers try to resurrect Jeffress as a reliever.
  14. Cordell has had 19 total bases over the last three games. 7-12, 1 BB, 1 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR. Raised his SLG from .491 to .529.
  15. Boy, how did I miss Will Toffey? LHH 3B with decent power and a 48:30 BB/K ratio. Matt Carpenter potential there. I'd be all about that. Updated guesses: 1st (#9): DL Hall, LHP, HS; David Peterson, LHP, Oregon; Shane Baz, RHP, HS (wouldn't be upset with Sam Carlson, Pavin Smith, or Bukauskas) 1b (#34): Brendon Little, LHP, JC; Hans Crouse, RHP, HS; Mark Vientos, 3B/SS, HS 2nd (#46): Trevor Stephan, RHP, Arkansas; MJ Melendez, C, HS; Chris Seise, SS, HS 3rd (#84): Kevin Merrell, SS/2B, South Florida; Will Toffey, 3B, Vanderbilt; David Banuelos, C, Long Beach St. 4th (#114): Daulton Varsho, C, UW-Milwaukee; Terry Fuller, 1B, HS; Landon Leach, RHP, HS 5th (#144): Oliver Jaskie, LHP, Michigan; Seth Lonsway, LHP, HS; Garrett Cave, RHP, Tampa 6th (#174): (senior signs) Ben Breazeale, C, Wake Forest; Phoenix Sanders, RHP, South Florida; Robbie Coman, C, Virginia Some other senior signs: Brendan Rodgers, 3B, Tennessee; Jake Stone, OF, Fresno St.; Daniel Pitts, OF, Cal Poly Pomona; Troy Dixon, C, St. John's; Mac Lozer, RHP, Michigan
  16. Hell, bring Cravy, Wang, and Suter up and send Feliz, Torres, and Drake packing. Cravy at CS: 11.1 IP, 18 H, 4 HR, 10 BB, 6 K Cravy on the road: 14.1 IP, 8 H, 0 HR, 4 BB, 13 K Even for a small sample, those are crazy splits.
  17. Very small sample alert: Tyler Cravy's ERA in Colorado Springs this year: 11.91 (11.1 IP) His road ERA: 0.00 (14.1 IP) I SO want to see Cravy in the bullpen on Tuesday with the biggest dung-eating grin on his face...
