  1. Back off appears to be the answer... for today
  2. Yep, and that's one of the components keeping the 10-year rate artificially high. And the 10-year rate affects mortgage rates.
  3. Quite the opposite, actually. I use Outlook online with an old Hotmail account for buying anything online (including utilities, travel, etc.) and have a separate Gmail account for professional/family/friends. I used to get a ton on the Hotmail account, but not since the beginning of the year. Outlook online is easy to mark as phishing/spam, and Microsoft must be applying AI to emails marked as phishing because I get a lot less than I used to.
  4. Really hard right now to convince kids to stay/go somewhere where they'll be on the bench. Just as hard to keep a kid as it is to convince a transfer to come in somewhere where he'll get 10 minutes a game.
  5. Yep. B-R.com has him as not eligible for arbitration until 2028 and not a free agent until 2031. For a halfway decent starting pitcher, that type of team and salary control will cost a lot in return.
  6. It is a very nice park. You just don't want to attend a night game there that gets a rain delay. Not many options getting out of there after midnight. Trains to the city only once every 30-45 minutes.
  7. I look forward to you not watching the Packers and then subsequently not posting so that I don't have to read your constant Negative Nellie posts. Didn't you say that you were going to root for the Vikings (or wherever Rodgers ends up)? Go do that, please.
  8. Been thinking about getting some shelves for the garage for months. Since I rent, I would need to get permission from the landlord to screw anything into the walls, so whenever I thought about it I put it off. Came down with a cold on Thursday and it was still pretty gnarly on Friday night so I thought that Saturday would be a good day to tackle the long-running home to-do list since I wouldn't be going anywhere. Not ideal, but decided on a plastic shelf unit, 36" W x 18" D x 72" H, cheap and don't have to ask the landlord, just have to hope it isn't a pain in the arse to put together. Went to Lowe's early on Saturday when it wasn't busy so as not to come near anybody else and get them sick and got the shelf unit. Just about home, turned into the alleyway to go to my garage, and what do I see? I plastic shelf unit similar to the one I just bought that one of my neighbors was apparently throwing out. 6" deeper, had some shelves that were bowed a little bit due to heavy things being placed on them for a while, but otherwise in good enough condition. Wasn't sure that 6" wider would work, but I dragged it back to my garage and looks like it will fit! Back to Lowe's this morning, $65 back into my pocket.
  9. Since the 80's! We showed them!
  10. Unlikely, because teams get a roster exemption for a player who goes on paternity leave. If he was healthy, there is no way the Brewers prefer that he go on the 15-day IL as opposed to a 4-5 day paternity leave where they can call up anyone they want to replace him for that time.
  11. This Patrick guy would have come in handy last year
  12. Spring practices are underway. What I had hypothesized about the DL is apparently coming to fruition - they are going with a 4-3/4-2-5 with bigger DEs. First team in practice was Charles Perkins (6’2, 316) and Parker Petersen (6’4, 315) in the middle, with Corey Walker (6’5, 297) and Darryl Peterson (6’1, 260) on the edges. Second team was Micheal Garner (6’6, 300) and Tyrese Fearbry (6’4, 249) at DE with, Dillan Johnson (6’2, 293) and Brandon Lane (6’3, 320) on the interior. Eugene Hilton was doing a lot of getting open and making catches. He's going to be part of the WR rotation.
  13. I believe that teams get an exemption for players on paternity/family medical/etc. leave, so they could call up Rodriguez without having to send anybody down. Then, when Nestor gets reinstated, Rodriguez gets sent down.
  14. And that's why Reed got $33.6M guaranteed and why Hobbs got $16M guaranteed. As for their "salary cap situation", are you referring to this year or next year? Because for next year, they are already at $270M in cap obligations for only 29 players and have yet to extend any of their 2022 draft class.
  15. They could certainly use that.
  16. Or it's just typical pre-draft misdirection. Look at who they've brought in for pre-draft visits - three edge rushers projected to go in the top 20 or so picks. We'll see.
  17. Except that it was posted on 3/31. Typical Bears fan - just like their team, can't execute even the most basic of things.
  18. Why would a tie cause them to play an extra game? And since when did baseball games end in a tie? Didn't the Brewers have a 25-inning game against the White Sox back in the 80's?
  19. Gutey formally says that Jordan Morgan will compete for the starting LT job: https://packerswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/2025/03/31/packers-ol-jordan-morgan-will-get-chance-to-compete-for-starting-left-tackle-job-in-2025/82745350007/
  20. Conspicuous by his absence - Paul Molitor. He did miss about 50 games that year, so he could have been on the IL. Fun fact about that team - the only player to play in all 162 games? Gorman Thomas. And he didn't even lead the league; Al Oliver and Steve Garvey played in 163 games. I don't know how that's possible as both played for the same team all season.
