  1. That was a really good game a few nights ago. This is the first time in years I can still remember following the Bucks in February. If the Bucks can't unload RJ and Redd, they might as well play hard and just keep working on Skiles' system and hopefully draft well in the middle of the first. After next season ('10-'11), we'd have some very valuable expirings and hopefully a decent young core.
  2. If the NFL follows through with the rumored lockout in 2010 (which during a recession, will be a PR nightmare), I could see baseball being the biggest sport for a couple of years. But the World Series has so much working against it. (Length, No halftime show, Weekday games, more strategic than football). I doubt it will ever happen. On a side note, I think the NBA could really gain some steam by doing a bracket type system like NCAA Tourney. Top 16 teams, single game elimination would be really exciting.
  3. I think Andy has been consistently funny more than anyone since he's been introduced on the show. Just a great character. And yes, Michael's line was probably the best in my eyes. I thought overall the episode had some very funny moments (Dwight and Micheal taking "pulls" off a shooter & Dwight's formal apology sheet), but does it kind of bug anyone else how unrealistic Dwight keeping his job with DM would be? He's losing his job at best, and probably facing some sort of criminal charges at worst. Don't get all the hate for the fake corny movie. They've had much worse scenes this season, and dozens last, that we're a lot less funny than that. You pretty much have to have guest stars when you're following the Super Bowl, and they did a good job of incorporating them into it.
  4. I've voted 3 times. I know this is a popularity contest, but Paul and Kimberli actually deserve it the most AINEC. Plus, Eric from #14 is a tool.
  5. I think you hit the nail on the head for why Sheets is reluctant to come back here. Just a huge miscalculation by the agents of many of the FA's, as you stated. Great post JB12.
  6. It's the same guys you see wearing caps everytime they leave their house. Like that guy in the Time Warner commercials from that crappy sitcom. Does he really think he's fooling anybody? Supposedly they use their all-natural pepperoni on this pizza, which makes the pepperoni they use for their regular pizzas what? Probably not the best marketing idea.
  7. Well yeah, I would hope so. That would make him one of the top offensive 2B in the game. It's pretty cool that Melvin confirms stuff about Weeks that we've all been discussing the last year or so: being instructed to take pitches by the team, is underrated by the casual fan, comparing favorably to Roberts, and being afraid to trade the guy in fear of him blowing up someplace else.
  8. This is what I'm hoping for as well. He'll get more innings than a standard SU guy and hopefully some of the more higher leverage ones as well. I think if all goes well this year, he'll most likely be our closer in 2010.
  9. Yeah this is a devastating injury either way you look at it. If you're a person who wants to keep the core and sneak in the playoffs it hurts, and of course, it kills Redd's trade value for the life of his contract. When he's finally 100% healthy he might be going into the last year of his deal, so he'd be worth hanging on to at the point. As others have said, RJ has to go, if we want any shot at keeping Sessions or CV. Give the young guys 25 minutes a game instead of journeymen scrubs like Allen and Elson as well. I could see Alexander having a breakout season next year if that happens.
  10. Wasn't crazy about that being the main in-office plot, but they picked the perfect woman to have a debate on.
  11. Sometimes you have to wonder why we allow these animals to live in our homes.
  12. I agree with you on almost every point, but I'd have to argue that the casual fan doesn't have any idea who Boras is. I consider most of my friends casual fans (they probably consider themselves diehards) and I'd bet money they wouldn't know about him. Actually, I think a lot of people don't know how the pre-FA years work. I've had at least several people ask me "do we still have Fielder?". I think probably the biggest thing that hurt him with the fans was when he became a vegetarian. People used that as the source of the problem for his weight gain (crunching doritos over his salad lol) and his early season power outage.
  13. I'm a cat person, but wow, that is one dog I would actually want. What breed?
  14. Apparently Rydogg glosses over my posts. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Kent is a jerk, but there is no doubt he should be a lock for the HOF. I would hope BBWAA members don't let personal grudges cloud their judgement.
  16. I agree that other teams fans would be much more grateful if Sheets would give them 125IP of 3.5 ball. Milwaukee fans unfairly get on him for basically skipping one start and leaving starts early and that's pretty much it. I've never heard him booed on the field though (he's too good to boo when he's healthy). The weird thing with Brewer fans, and Wisconsin fans in general, is that they get so offended by how much a struggling or injured player is making. I'll never understand it (especially a Gagne type situation where it's just a 1 year risk).
  17. I dunno. I think Odom is a better player than RJ. Now I've only watched Lakers' games when their on TNT, ESPN, or ABC, but I think he's been a pretty solid rotation player for them. He's been much more efficient offensively and has an expiring, which is pretty much all that needs to be said about who's more valuable. If Dan Gadzurich was on another team and had Odom's expiring, I'd trade RJ for him in a second. That's how bad the Bucks need to clear at least one of Redd/RJ.
  18. I guess I can buy that. CC will most likely be remembered very fondly by Brewer fans, but no one could have ever predicted how good he was for us. But still, there was at least one guy in the IGT that CC pitched during the playoffs (and I'm sure more at local taverns, etc) that claimed he was a choker after he got lit up. He choked with the Indians in the playoffs and now he did it with us was pretty much the argument. He may be the biggest blowhard on this board, but its still gonna happen where ever Sheets goes. Some places (Mets) more than others (Rangers). If we offered 2/18 right now, would he really not be able to put up with it for 2 more seasons?
  19. I think Chandler is so limited offensively he couldn't play PF. David West would be the perfect fit next to Bogut, but there is no way in hell they trade him. You have to get lucky and find a guy like that in the draft. Looking at it I don't see a fit between the Bucks and Hornets. Peja's deal is just as bad as Redd's. I'd consider the one you proposed though. They'd be limited offensively, but they could definitely shut down the paint. I don't think the Lakers would trade Odom for RJ. I'd love that, but I don't think it's realistic. The Suns really don't need any more swingmen. (Hill, Richardson, and Barnes are all better than Jefferson). Edit: Nice, my first post from the future.
  20. I personally think Sheets was treated poorly by the casual fan for years now, but then again, what player outside of Hardy, Braun, and Sabathia wasn't at some point? If someone can't appreciate him outdueling Peavy in September (injured, mind you) you have to question if they are actually a Brewer fan. Who cares what they think? That was probably my favorite performance of his. But if Sheets thinks that Milwaukee fans were hard on him and this wouldn't happen in a different location so he feels kind of betrayed, well, then I think he's living in a fantasy world. I'd kind of have to question if that guy is in the right profession.
  21. I agree. I am in full tank mode now. The LAC game was the turning point for me. Still play Skiles basketball but try to develop the young guys. Unload RJ and Max for anything that doesn't have a bad long term deal. Make Bogut sit until he's 100% healthy. Keep Damon Jones. I think Redd won't be that hard to trade. There are teams like New Orleans that really need another scorer. I can't think of one team that would take RJ though.
  22. Jon was great last night. From about the 4 minute mark until the end he was losing it. I don't think he'd be alive this morning if they had wound up losing. Love that duo of Jon and Jim.
  23. Consider my mind blown. Rydogg, teach me.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif If I'm not able to make it to Milwaukee tonight because of the weather, this might be my Saturday night. I can't think of anything I really need, but for something with Rydogg's discount I don't think I can go wrong.
