  1. Oh and what the heck was Andre Ethier thinking on Hardy's single.
  2. This board would have exploded if that was one of our players.
  3. Brewers Classic. Say what you want about Ned Yost, but he's heads and shoulders above Torre.
  4. Ummmm there were 2 strikes in that at-bat.
  5. Yeah, I definitely had to click on his player page a couple of weeks back to see if it was THAT Mike Adams. Very nice year he's putting together. That's the thing with relievers though. They're pitching such small samples that it basically takes them 3 seasons to accumulate what a Starting Pitcher does in 1 season, so every couple of years a mediocre RP can do this. It's probably no different than a mediocre SP like Suppan having a good stretch of 10 or so starts.
  6. For pizza or chinese, I tip a gallon of gas, as someone here noted. It's a nice drive for any of these type of places to my house. As for when I order Jimmy Johns and am at my apartment on the UWM campus, I just give them the change, as they pretty much only deliver in a 1 mile radius, and there is a delivery charge. With coffee drinks I give the remaining change as well. I just order a cup of coffee, but for the people ordering those specialty drinks, the baristas do a lot of work, so I feel like it's right to donate if I'm paying cash. Now days I just go to McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts for coffee because it's a lot better and cheaper, and they don't have a tip jar out so I don't feel the need. Restaurants I tip 20%, unless it's horrible service. Haircut, I go to the same girl, so I tip depending on what kind of job she does. After a few smaller tips, I've all of a sudden gotten much better haircuts and tipped her better because of it. Takeout: Nothing. Is this the norm?
  7. I have noticed him spiking a lot of fastballs a couple of feet in front of home.
  8. He would of been safe anyway, but that right side of the infield is really scaring me.
  9. I'm sure he's put on a couple of pounds, but I think the baggier uniform makes him look a lot bigger than he really is.
  10. I was looking at cd's at The Exclusive Company and stumbled across the Katy Perry CD. It looks like the worst has yet to come with her. The next single is called "Ur so gay". Ugh. These myspace artists are really starting to take over.
  11. After every swing. But in his interview he said it felt good so I dunno.
  12. Wow Braun didn't look too comfortable in BP.
  13. LRMAM has a chance to be a decent rotation player, but I'm still bummed that they didn't take Chris Douglas Roberts out of Memphis. Is he a free agent? That would be an ok signing with me.
  14. TH is speaking to an audience that understands triple crown stats, so he speaks to him in those terms. Now you can certainly hope that his job is to educate as well as inform, but there's a decent percentage of people that don't want to learn. Turning them away in the hopes of noble education doesn't make the JS money, which is their primary goal. Fair enough. But he uses the triple crown stats to prove his point and show that he is right and shouldn't be questioned, when in actuality, 2 of the 3 are throw-away stats. Can you point to a single sentence where TH said that Darren Ford was the centerpiece of a trade? I'm not going to dig thru his blog, but I believe he said something like "Now I don't know if it's just Darren Ford going to the A's." Anyone that knows a bit about the minor leauge players should be able to figure out that Darren Ford wouldn't be enough to get any useful player, let alone Huston Street. I thought that if that was the only name he had heard, it probably means Ford was the centerpiece, which was half-right in the actual deal. How is that foolish? Look at how many comments are attached to that posting. Controversy drives traffic, which is the goal of his blog. Absolutely, I'm sure that's why the JS is letting him rant. I don't think Tom is seeing any additional money from the extra hits his blog receives from the controversy though, making his comments even more unnecessary. (fixed code --1992)
  15. No. I didn't even know who Tom H was until the "Yost is Fired" fiasco. I started lurking here right around the end of the Taylor era, and really haven't bothered to go elsewhere since. Maybe I am a little hard on the guy. He did do a good job covering the CC trade rumors. But for the most part, the man just doesn't really understand the game (BA, HR, RBI), or even have basic knowledge of the minor league affiliates (Yeah, Darren Ford is the centerpiece of a Huston Street trade http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif). And now he's picking fights with a reader that disagrees with him? What a fool.
  16. The Suns just gave away first-round draft picks because they didn't have the cap room. Marcus Camby, a great rebounder and shotblocker, was given away because the Nuggets didn't have cap room. Good things can happen via trade when you have cap space.
  17. Too bad Ferry wasn't dumb enough to take Gadz back or give up Gibson. While we certainly took a hit on the talent side, I don't see how this makes us a worse team. As homer said, addition by subtraction. Mo has a lot of talent but any team is gonna have a hell of time winning a championship with him at the point. The Cavs are probably a perfect fit for him since Lebron can handle the ball. Also, does Jones just get waived? They probably just want his salary to clear for next year. Damon Jones is a major plus if he never plays a minute for us. The Marcus Camby trade really showed just how important cap room is in the NBA.
  18. It's embarrassing that Wisconsin's largest newspaper employs this buffoon. Calling out your manager and players in the paper is pretty weak but as the Brewers' beat reporter it is his right. Going after JSONLINE message board members though is borderline insane. It basically comes down to Young vs Weeks, as they were by far the top two prospects. I think the choice is easy, as one has been slightly above average offensively at his position with below average defense while battling injuries and learning on the fly, and the other is terrible offensively at his position where defense isn't all that important. It's also useless to judge a player by service time (5 years). At-bats is a much better indicator of experience. Young has 1194 career AB's vs. Weeks 1517.
  19. http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3532089 A good read over at ESPN. Features a collection of articles about the rentals traded at this year's deadline, CC being one of them. I had heard that Riske and CC knew each other from Cleveland, but I had no idea they were best friends.
  20. This. I've seen this happen a lot lately, and a lot of the time the home plate umpire is wrong. There should at least be a penalty for the ump, like a one game suspension w no pay. I agree with most of everyone's suggestions so far, but I think the biggest problem sans MLB Draft are the umpires.
  21. I thought the same thing.........last week. Branyan hasn't been getting starts since Mid-July and supposedly he tweaked it last night. I wouldn't be surprised if he has made his last start as a Brewer.
  22. Classic Suppan. He's been bailed out a couple of times by a line drive off the mound.
  23. But we're winning. In all honesty, I just don't think Ned likes the 3TO style of play, as I think someone said about a week back. When Yost came out and said he thought Russell was done as a player before this year's resurgence, I found that to be a backhanded compliment in a way, especially from a guy who never shows any negativity towards his players through the media.
