  1. It wasn't. It crossed the plate very high since it was a breaking pitch.
  2. Very "outside-the-box". It can't hurt to try anything right now. The only change I'd like to see would be flipping Hardy and Cameron. Cameron is more of a 3TO type, which I like in the 2 spot. Hardy is too much of a DP liability, and doesn't the 3rd spot come up more than any spot with the bases empty?
  3. That isn't a bad idea. I was thinking the other day that we could really beef up Weeks' value if he learned how to play CF, and still continue to start some games at 2B as well. Kind of like a Mark DeRosa type player. Get a few starts at 2B each week, and a couple in CF as well. He's been used really well since Durham came aboard (not facing tough RH'ers), and if he could play multiple positions the team could realistically semi-platoon him like this.
  4. That's probably a good idea SeriesFinale. I have a terrible temper though I'm usually a pretty reserved guy. But it has caused me to do some terrible things mainly because of sports and poker. I've uprooted poker tables, broken remotes over players getting unlucky (JJ's rookie year), and threw a shoe through my wall in protest of a call. It sounds ridiculous, but with time I have somehow managed to become very level-headed.
  5. I was looking over my 08 BP Guide and saw that PECOTA had him at .265/.368/.454 for 2008. And they are pretty much gonna be right on with his XBH's. They pegged him as having 24 2B'S, 4 3B's, 16 HR. Right now he's at 22 2B's, 6 3B's, and 12 HR. So his power is a bit down, but he has walked more than they expected. His numbers could really finish close to their projections. With a career low .277 BABIP, he's really not that far off from having a solid year. 10 - 15 more hits finding holes and your damn close to those projections. Amazing. Even SB and CS's are right on.
  6. ALS Printing is what we go with. By the railroad tracks/Harrison. Just curious, where are you setting up in Oshkosh? If/when I need a lawyer I'll keep you in mind.
  7. I'm expecting Durham to get the bulk of the playing time the rest of the way. Sveum just said in his interview with Ueck that he likes to have 2 veterans at the top of the order. When Weeks does play, I'd like to see him subbed out late in a close game when we're ahead. I think pressure gets to the guy. The 2 errors last week, the botched DP against the Cubs, and not turning the double play late in Atlanta last year all came very late in close games.
  8. The 3 things old-school managers look for in a leadoff hitter: veteran, fast, and a high BA. I'd bet most of these guys think that Juan Pierre is the best leadoff man in the game, and would love to have him.
  9. Yeah, I don't think he can hack it at 3rd. His arm seems kind of weak, and having a guy learn a new position right now would be suicide for Sveum's future as a manager.
  10. Even Sveum seemed annoyed that Tom was insinuating that this was planned with Robin being in town and all. I thought his reaction was pretty funny.
  11. I don't think it's that "matter-of-fact", but I think everything he said has probably become much more likely with the recent developments. Yost was loyal to a fault with Weeks. I was very surprised to see him sit both games yesterday, and it was actually quite funny considering he's the only guy getting on base this month.
  12. Absolutely. I mentioned hiring Jeff a couple of days ago I believe. Outside of Cameron, Hardy, and Kendall, everyone on the team is underperforming this year. That is grounds for dismissal if you ask me.
  13. I don't see how this makes that big of a difference. Sveum is pretty much the same person as Ned Yost, and I expect him to manage the same way. I do wish they would have canned Skaalen while they were at it.
  14. One more loss, and then we can talk about must win games. -Ned Yost
  15. Is it common to have the exact same lineup for a day/night doubleheader?
  16. No, I'm not joking. Both are having down years, and Howard is still gonna get close to 50. Prince has been missing pitches that he absolutely crushed last year. He's a butcher in the field. Time isn't on Prince's side if he doesn't start taking better care of himself. His stats at 28 have the potential to be ugly. Howard's home and away splits the last 3 years are identical. I stand by my statement.
  17. Man, Howard is light years ahead of Fielder defensively. And offensively.
  18. That was the last guy on that bench that should have been used there. Ned goes way overboard on those Righty-Lefty matchups. A bad hitter is a bad hitter. I would have rather even seen Hall there, as he at least has a chance to give them the lead. Heck, Bush probably did too.
  19. I agree MSC. I have never figured out how people can understand what's being said either. I've given it a couple of chances, but can't understand a thing.
  20. We don't even deal with banks like Wells Fargo and US Bank at the car dealership I work at. Apparently, the banks believe they know more about the car market than the dealers themselves. Right now, a 98 Accord with over 100K miles is worth quite a bit more than a loaded 02 Ford Explorer, but the bank would gladly approve the latter while rejecting the Honda. As others have said, Credit Unions are the way to go for a car loan. Capital Credit Union, if there is one near you, is great for car loans.
  21. I'm really hoping the Cubs have nothing to play for that last series.
  22. Do you have some kind of inside information on Jeter retiring or the Yankees not interested in resigning him? You make it seem as if it is almost a forgone conclusion.
  23. How about firing Skaalen? I know a hitting coach doesn't do much, but it would definitely shake things up. Hire Cirillo. He just summed up the Brewers troubles up tonight in about 30 seconds.
