  1. Of all the players to compare Weeks to, how do people keep throwing out Corey Patterson? Other than both being toolsy, underachieving, African American players with younger brothers also being professionals, I just don't see any similarities as a player. A career .290 OBP for one player and a .350 OBP for the other while getting a significant amount of plate appearances with shoddy health? Not seeing it.
  2. That booing he received after the strikeout was really something considering it completely overpowered the Cubs fans. It would have even made Turnbow and Gagne blush. Turnbow was a very odd pitcher. He had dominate stats in 05 and half of 06, but I never felt like the game was over as I did with someone like Cordero. I liked the guy and was expecting him to have a bounceback year. Hopefully he can find his way back to the bigs, but I wouldn't bet on it.
  3. Wow. Alcohol and a heated rivalry really bring out the worst in people. I guess I feel the same way as most on here about the Brewers-Cubs series. Just simply stay away for the foreseeable future. I attended the April 07 game where Bush gave up 6 before I even got in my seat, and that will be the last. Had a bad experience in the parking lot after the game with a Cub fan getting out of his car and kicking the crap out of my friend's SUV because he wouldn't let him in.
  4. Yost doesn't talk to Haudricourt anymore anyways after the "Yost fired" fiasco. The guy is an embarrassment to his profession. Tom H has been waiting for this moment for the last year. He's been giving subtle (not really) hints in his blog as early as the beginning of last season that Weeks should be replaced. Weeks deserves a ton of criticism for last night though. It's hard for one person to lose a game that is as team-oriented as baseball, but he was damn close. He should be on the bench the rest of the series, not just for his performance last night, but for the RH'ers scheduled the next three.
  5. This may be impractical, but there should really be a few guys that decide all the official scoring. Just go through the tapes after the games are played, so that way there isn't any homerism. I do agree O'Driscoll is horrible. Whoever was doing the scoring in SF was just about as bad.
  6. I have a feeling Hall and Weeks will be taking a seat tomorrow.
  7. I think the ball was already in his mit, Kosuke. In the dirt Torres.
  8. Gagne seems to be overthrowing. I'll take 88 on the black over 92 and wild.
  9. Agreed, even though your first sentence made me want to scream.
  10. That's a play that should never be an error though. The Fukudome 'hit' I can live with, as that's a ball Durham probably doesn't even get to. But that was routine.
  11. Yeah bill, I'd expect this to be his last inning. My god 124 pitches.
  12. Man, the umps have been right tonight. Maybe Corey was safe (no replay FSN?) , but I'd be nice to have one bang-bang play go our way.
  13. I can't believe Ray Durham has that many career hits. Griffey seems like a guy who really cares about his stats, so I could see him hanging on a couple more seasons and getting it.
  14. CC, throw it in the dirt! Soriano will get himself out.
  15. I'd like to see Durham and Branyan get the starts against Zambrano and Harden. Maybe give Billy the day off against Dempster as well. Weeks has been swinging the bat pretty well the last 28 days, but Zambrano and especially Harden are bad matchups for him.
  16. Dang. Sounds like it would be easier to get an 8:30 rez at Dorsia. I was afraid of this. I've been to only 1 game this year after 14 last year, all with a group of at least 3. Hopefully I can get to at least one more this year.
  17. So he tried to throw it in the dugout but he fired it into the stands? What does that say about the guy's control? What an animal.
  18. The only gripe I have with Anderson is when a grounder is hit to an infielder and before the guy even throws to first, he'll say something like "And the Brewers get out of it." He's gonna get burned on that eventually. Otherwise he's pretty decent imo. Side note: I have to listen to Uecker at work until 8 and I'm finding it harder and harder to wait for Powell's innings.
  19. JJ's been great ever since he got the extended break a month or so back. I think he'll finish with a line in the .345/.450 range. In those O-swing stats Russ has posted, it showed Hardy at the top of the Brewers for strikes seen, even in early May when he was terrible and in front of the pitcher. It seems like he gets a lot of fastballs in his wheelhouse and hanging curves, and he's not missing them like he was early in the year.
