  1. All unders except runs and SB's. I'd probably just put Kendall or Cameron in the lead off spot starting after the all-star break. We can't justify giving Weeks the most at-bats each game anymore. It will probably take him asking out of the leadoff role for it to actually happen though. Depressing season is almost an understatement. I know it's said that Spring Training numbers mean nothing, but I was worried with his start there. After his stats last year; dominating the last 1/4 of the season, it's hard to believe that he's really never shown any couple week sign of breaking out of it. Really sucks. I've lost sleep thinking about the situation.
  2. I'd like to see McClung in long relief right after the break, and then maybe the second week of August put Parra there for 3-4 weeks. You'd then have Manny starting again during those last 3-4 weeks, which I think is crucial.
  3. I'd give him a B-. He's doing a lot of things better than he did last season. There are times I say "there's no way they can blame Yost for this loss" to myself after a close one, but sure enough the Yost thread is at the top of the page. Post game interviews are A+ for me. I like how he's so short with the media. He's gotten a little bit nastier since the Tom H fiasco, and he has every right to be.
  4. Yeah there is no way the front office could justify a bullpen trip for Bush, barring a monumental meltdown today.
  5. Yunel Escobar being called out on a bunt attempt while being a couple steps past the bag was the worst I've ever seen. Like Al said, more often than not the crew's have been doing an awful job. It needs to be addressed in the offseason.
  6. Kind of off topic, but I just got back from SF and listen to SeriesFinale when he says avoid Fisherman's Wharf. I found Little Italy (North Shore??) and the John Muir national forest to be the best. Of course when I was out there, SFG were out of town. Really wanted to see that park.
  7. So I guess this is management giving Soup a break rather than an actual injury? I'm sure right after the all-star break he'll be inserted back in. Good move. He's definitely the odd man out performance wise judging by the last month or so.
  8. Almost everyone on this site was wrong with Weeks. How do you predict this after how he closed out last year? To be honest, the season so far has been bittersweet for me because of his struggles. Huge fan of his, but I'm starting to think it's never gonna happen. In a Brewers uniform at least. He could put up good stats the rest of the way and wind up with a solid line though. Last year he wound up with an 807 OPS after his crappy middle of the summer, so it's safe to say we still do have some hope. If the struggles continue through July, how about a month long trip to AAA during August. Call him up in September, not a day earlier barring injury, and if he's back even close to his career norms, it would be like adding a Brian Roberts type player.
  9. I agree that his eye is good. He seems to have pretty decent pitch recognition. His approach is very out of whack though. He almost always takes the first pitch regardless of what it is, which more times than not splits the plate in half. In order for him to hit the ball hard, he needs the ball thigh high and right down the middle. He can't hit the outside strike or inside strike very hard right now. The good thing is Weeks had the same kind of year going last year, and he turned it around in a big way. So he does have it in him. He wasn't feeling the effects of the injury as much as having a very bad approach exactly like he does now. If he does turn it around, I expect the Brewers to cash in at the end of the season with a trade. If he doesn't, I expect them to get rid of him as well. So I'm pretty sure this is his last season here. I doubt he gets traded this year as his value is at an all time low. Alex Escobar and Andy Marte he is not. Those guys never had any success at the majors like Weeks has had, and I have no idea why Marte was ever considered top flite as his stats weren't all that great. People forget, but when Weeks first came up, he was very good.
  10. Keep it up Hardy. Didn't think he had it in him. Hall and Weeks are the same exact player right now. What a nightmare half of a season for 50% of our starting infield.
  11. Matt Cain. He could be an anchor of the rotation for years to come with Yo. It would probably take Weeks/Hardy + Gillespie + Nelson as a throw in.
  12. Yeah, I don't understand why the asking price is higher for two and a half months of Sabathia than a full year of Johan Santana as well. Don't these five Huntsville guys project better than the centerpiece of the Santana deal; Pedro Gomez. I think the best match for trading partners are the Giants and Brewers. Lets go get Matt Cain.
  13. AK47 is a really good fit at the 4 for the team. I'm surprised you think that's overpaying. I doubt Utah would ever consider that trade. All things considered, Brewer is much more valuable than Redd. On a side note, CV would probably drive Sloan to retirement.
  14. I was alright with him taking there. Qualls was really off that inning. He was pretty wild to Kapler, and got behind Rickie 2-1. The real problem with that at-bat was missing that 2-1 get me over fastball. 90 mph and split the plate in half. A guy with Weeks' talent should put that ball in the seats quite often.
  15. Rickie Weeks has no chance on a fastball. Really mind-blowing how far he has fallen. 2 - 1 count and he swings over a BP fastball. There really is no place for that in the bigs.
  16. This is true. He's somehow turned into a horrible fastball hitter, which is amazing considering how awesome he was at killing them when he first came up.
  17. Surprisingly clever for ESPN. I'm with the people that find it embarrassing that we made such a big deal over a World Series loss.
  18. I think Braun dove too early. He was the only defensive weak link on the field.
  19. We've seen Zambrano do that many times throughout his career. A playoff berth, which is more likely with Zambrano missing a significant amount of time, would be much more satisfying.
  20. Where is that quote from RW23? The Royals seem to be adding payroll the last couple of years so maybe they'd be interested in making Fielder the face of their franchise. How about: Greinke and Gordon for Fielder, Villanueva, and Braddock
  21. You're absolutely right. I'm in the auto sales business and know this guy; he owns a ton of the undeveloped real estate area in Oshkosh but loses millions at his dealership the last couple years. I find the commercial to be incredibly offensive and recently saw a new one a couple weeks ago.
  22. I'm at work on the northside of Oshkosh at an auto dealership with no basement. So nasty out there right now.
  23. Not to mention, he doesn't have 4 full years of at-bats, as a lot of people always claim. It's roughly 2.5 years worth of AB's because of a couple of half years, with about half of those coming while he hasn't been 100%.
  24. It was a nasty slide, no doubt. But I think the guy only had one other appearance in the rest of the series, and that was in yesterday's game as a PH. Too close of a game to be throwing at someone. Although it doesn't make it right, a few other managers do the same thing with the lineup as Yost. Of the top of my head, I know Leyland does it. Personally, I don't think it makes sense at all.
  25. Well hopefully he can have a quick rehab assignment in AAA. I thought he was really starting to turn a corner during the Boston and Pittsburgh series a couple weeks ago, but since then I think he's looked as bad as he ever has imo.
