  1. In terms of production I will go Green and Fiers. Peralta is right up there as well. Gamel and Gindl were really good too
  2. I know this is a common sentiment but I have read a lot baseball writers who have said Braun is an average LF. They usually say it in the context of MVP talk. They will say Prince is a really bad defender, whereas Braun is not good but average. I wish I had saved the different articles, but I am pretty sure they were on ESPN and CNNSI. One even quoted an NL scout who said the same thing. Whether he is average or not it seems like many writers think he is so that will help his chances
  3. I would have liked to have Gamel up because his bat is solid to pinch hit but I agree people are going over the top. Saying he should request a trade and that the Brewers have treated him terribly is over the top. He is a minor leaguer who is blocked by our best hitters. I think some of it has to do with him being a top prospect for a while so people have been a fan of his for a long time. I think he should be a bat off the bench but the team thinks differently.
  4. He has played 19 games at 3B. I am not sure when all of those happened. Are they trying to showcase him for other teams, since Green seems like our long-term answer at 3B?
  5. I didnt mean to make it sound like he is fully to blame but I dont think it is asinine to say he is partly to blame since he couldnt cut it at 3B and according to some came into camp out of shape and got hurt. You can disagree with me. Thats fine. All that said I have no clue why he did not get called up to be a lefty bat off the bench. It makes me wonder what they are thinking at 1B for the future. If not Gamel then who? They put Casey there in the 9th the other night but I hope that is not the way we were going
  6. The Brewers are 35-38 on the road now. So they have one less win then you have for them, but it still shows how good they have been. They were the worst team on the road at one point, now they are middle of the road. It has been really impressive.
  7. This doesnt fully make sense to me. It is part Mat Gamel's fault that he is not in the bigs. If he could play a passable 3b he would be a big leaguer. Since he couldn't do that he is blocked by our 3 best bats or at least 3 of our 4 best bats. He could maybe move to corner OF and he could play 1B but there is no need right now. He could have been on the bench but I dont think he really got screwed. He should have been promoted but outside of Macha never playing him Mat has bad circumstances and a bad arm to blame more than the Brewers management.
  8. Count me in as one who does not understand why Gamel is not up. This does not seem to bode well for him replacing Prince but maybe I am reading too much into this. But if not Game then who is playing 1B next year? Casey?
  9. Why do people compare Marcum to Suppan? Sure neither pitches really fast but the comparisons end there. 1. Over the past three years Marcum has had an ERA of 3.4, 3.64, and 3.11. Soups best 3 year stretch was 4.12, 3.57, 4.12. Marcum's worst full season so far was 4.13. 2. Suppan eclipsed 120 strike outs one time and landed on 120 another time. Marcum has eclipsed that each year and he had 165 last year and in already over 140 this year 3. Marcum has never walked more than 50 guys in a year (though he will do that this year) and Suppan average almost 70 a season 4. Marcum has never given up a hit per inning pitched. Suppan did it EVERY year he pitched Marcum is a much safer bet than Suppan to finish out a contract well. His arm doesnt have a ton of innings on it yet either. He only has 417 minor league innings to go with 768 in the majors. The guy has under 1200 innings on his arm. Suppan had that while he was still in KC. Gallardo almost has as many innings as Marcum.
  10. Very nice inning so far. Not a lot of solid hits but we will take runs anyway we can get them. Now bust this open Corey!
  11. So what you are saying is Prince is better than Howard and whomever plays 1B for the White Sox? That sounds about right. I love his bat but his defense makes me view him as a DH
  12. Who are 1B who are worse than Fielder in terms of fielding? I had some people trying to tell me he was a good fielder recently and I said he was one of the worst and they didnt believe me
  13. Crazy game. We have had a lot of base-runners and have struck out a lot. We have only gotten out on 3 balls that were put into play
  14. Kottaras has not followed up his cycle particularly well. To be fair though only Fielder, Yuni, and Wolf have not struck out yet.
  15. Ryan Braun is pretty good at hitting a baseball
  16. Westbrook has 5 K's through 2 IP but he has also given up 4 hits and a walk. His pitch count is up to 49
  17. Has Gamel been playing 3B since Green got called up? He has 2 of the 4 errors for the Sounds
  18. I hope Green gets a hit or two today because I dont want this being a short-lived experiment. When Weeks gets back I really like our lineup. I want to see Hairston get some time at SS
  19. Teams that fit that bill but I dont know if they have the prospects would include - the Twins, White Sox, Mets, Yankees (they need pitching but doubt they go the trade route), maybe the Nationals, Tigers could use another top starter, Cincy/St Louis (but I doubt we trade within the division), etc. The teams are there and Marcum has been really good. I say this not wanting to trade Marcum. I would be all for dealing Wolf for a SS.
  20. Yeah, McClendon seemed like a decent guess actually. The Green guess was debunked by Tom H numerous times, but some just refused to believe him.
  21. How does Marcum's value compare to a guy like Edwin Jackson? Jackson and a couple relievers netted Rasmus. Jackson also netted Daniel Hudson and David Holmberg(who is a young pitcher with decent value). I have no idea if Marcum should net more or less than Jackson. I have never been really impressed with Jackson but I know some advanced numbers say he is very good.
  22. Only 4 people unaccounted for right now. Are Logan Schafer and Maldonao the only guys on the team that are not labeled yet?
  23. I would love for someone to tag each person in the photo. Since I rarely get to watch the Brewers it is hard to figure out who each guy is. I love this team. Not sure who deserves the credit but they sure seemed to stay loose after the sweep by the Cards
  24. You misread how "good luck" was used.I am asking about rams quote that "Votto is definitely better than Braun and hasn't gotten lucky at all this season." What was he trying to say?
  25. Can someone explain to me why Votto is better than Braun offensively or how he should be ahead of Braun for MVP? I dont understand all the advanced matric stats, but Braun has the edge in OPS, can steal bases (has 24 more steals and has only been caught more once), and it isnt like Braun's numbers are inflated by a higher BABIP. If you just look at offense I dont see it. Now I dont know how good Votto is in the field but I am sure he is better than Braun so maybe that is it. Also what are the stats that show Braun has been lucky offensively?
