  1. The Cards had gone up 3-1 in the first but the Pirates are battling back. Down 3-2 now and have runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Also just read the Cards are going to have a AAA guy named Dickson start against us Thursday. He is 8-9 with a 3.73 ERA. So we get Jackson, Westbrook and Dickson.
  2. While Green does not have a great fielding % at 3B - just .934, Braun was much worse at .899. I have read nothing to think Green is nearly as bad as Braun was. Braun was historically bad at 3B.
  3. Nice work by KRod! My computer froze and by the time I was able to get MLBtv back up we were only up 2
  4. Or maybe he was a little nervous and answering the same generic questions over again is probably tiresome.
  5. Braun was so close and Prince just crushed one. Those who wonder how we can win a World Series with a terrible infield just need to look at how good those two guys are and how good our rotation and bullpen are. A couple weak spots are not enough to keep us from being able to win a Series. The Giants offense was just as suspect as our defense and they won so I feel alright
  6. Peralta is really wild so far. No hits but 4 walks so far and 47 pitches through 2 innings
  7. Casey puts the Brewers up 3 and keeps Taylor Green on the bench for a bit
  8. Dempster has actually been pretty sharp with his command early on, but the Brewers have made him pay when he has missed by a little.
  9. Ryan Braun is really good! I love watching his swing.
  10. I am excited to see how Thornburg adjusts to AA next year. He seems to be figuring out A+ pretty well. I am actually really encouraged by our arms in the minors with Peralta, Thornburg and Fiers but the bats still worry me.
  11. I honestly dont know how you can have Prince ahead of Braun unless his being hurt has that much bearing. His OPS is considerably higher. He may have a couple less homers but he has 30 more SB. He also is better defensively at his position according every scout I have read and most say he is much better. Braun may not be good but Prince is really bad. I still think Prince is number 2 or 3 but right now I think it has to be Braun. But as long as one of them wins it I will be happy.
  12. If he's not above Rivas, that would be a mistake. He's outperformed Rivas significantly, the only reason Rivas would remain above him is if he had clearly better "stuff." He doesn't. And there's no difference in age, not really. Rivas will be turning 26 soon. It is not just being ahead of Rivas (which seems like a lock) that And That said wanna bet to. It was being above Rivas, Kentrail and Khris Davis and Scooter Gennett. Not sure if Fiers jumps all of the last 3. The Power 50 is not meant to be a simple production based list. It is about potential as well and does Fiers potential and upside allow him to overtake thee aforementioned three prospects
  13. well he is helping pad Princes OBP. 25 of Prince's 87 BB have been intentional. Imagine Braun's OBP potential if he had more than 2 IBB.
  14. I feel like Braun has put himself back at the top of the list. He is now just 3 points back for the batting crown. His OPS is closing in on 1.000 and is tops in the National League. His OPS of .996 is solidly ahead of Kemp .968, Fielder .960, Tulo .923, and Upton .918. The guys in second and third Votto and Berkman dont seem like huge threats. I know Braun's defense isnt good but i cant imagine that keeps him from being an MVP.
  15. Braun is 3 points behind for the BA lead in the NL and he is just .04 points from an OPS over 1.000
  16. The Twins biggest issue after the M&M boys is a bad pitching core. They only really have one good pitcher in Baker and the rest are average. Their bullpen is bad. The cupboard in the minors is bare for pitching prospects. Kyle Gibson is their only top end prospect but he was unproductive this year before getting hurt. He may need Tommy John if some rehad doesnt go well. It will be interesting to see how their attendance suffers if they continue to struggle. They are 4th in attendance right now but something tells me they are not seeing that many actually show up to the stadium.
  17. Even though he lost it was a great start for Thornburg! 7 IP, 2H, 1 ER, 1 BB, and 10 K
  18. David Wright has an OPS .20 lower (and 40 lower last year) on the road than at home so it is not all Citi Field
  19. I am not sure of who else is being mentioned but if this is in regard to trading starter so Peralta can start you would still have Estrada as depth. Fiers would be there as well. Thornburg will be in AA next year. So there would still be some depth
  20. I am really trying to figure out why the Brewers would not be a favorite. They would still have Braun, Fielder, and Weeks, surrounded by Hart, Lucroy, Morgan and others. Sure SS is still week but 3B should be improved with Green or Casey having a decent year. The starting rotation is still stacked with Peralta there to step in if needed. The bullpen will probably lose some pieces but not insurmountable ones. This team is one the best teams in baseball right now without their all-star second baseman. Not sure why they all the sudden wouldnt be a playoff team. What do you mean by "everything else being equal."
  21. Arnett with a great start through 7. 4 H, 0 BB, 0 ER and 8 K's. Every once in awhile he gives me hope again
  22. If we split with St. Louis that would leave 24 to play for them to make up 10 games. If we played .500 outside of that (12-12) they would have to go 22-2.
