  1. Not likely with his 6 plus ERA. He had a couple nice starts but has been getting hit really hard.
  2. So much for the talk about Escobar having to be involved in the deal for the Brewers if they went after Washburn. I was not super high on Washburn when the price seemed out of line but I do not think we would have needed to give up a ton to match this deal
  3. I remember when Bailey, Hughes and Gallardo were coming up and Bailey and Hughes were the two scouts liked the most. When asked Gallardo was always the 3rd best of the 3 even though they were complimentary of him. I would love to get Bailey if possible because his upside is so good.
  4. Who do we have that can replace Cameron next year? Cain getting hurt set him back. Gerut has not really been given a chance and has not shown much in his limited playing time. I am not sure who is a FA this off-season, and I would rather not trade for a CF with Shaefer and Cain down in the minors and hopefully ready in a year. Our trades need to be for pitching. I think we offer Cameron arbitration. He has the 6th best OPS of all CF'ers and plays very good defense. I know it is a lot of money to spend for Cameron but I just do not see what better options are out there.
  5. Hoffman being a Type A could be great for us getting him next year. We may be the only team willing to sign him since we would not lose a pick. Lopper is probably worth what he would get in arbitration isn't he? He is only making 4.75 million and would probably get a little less in arbitration if I am not mistaken, but I do not know how the process really works. No way they offer Kendall arbitration. So Kendall nets a pick and Cameron does not. That makes no sense to me.
  6. Seriously? What is Harang's contract situation?Harang is owed 12.5 million next year with a club option for 2011 of 12.75 million, with a buyout of 2 million. He also is owed whatever is left of his 11 million this year.
  7. Even if Clement cannot stick at catcher he could be a nice answer to Prince leaving in a couple years. I would love a trade for Clement, Morrow and Washburn because it is being a buyer but looking toward the future. Of course that is totally dependent on who we would have to give up. I just do not see Doug trading Escobar or Gamel right now so I am not sure who we could trade to get that return. Hardy obviously, but who else would we need to throw in to make it a deal.
  8. Is this supposed to be sarcastic? I am not even going to try to respond to it until I find out.
  9. Not that I am arguing (I am just going off BA's report) but do you have scouting reports or first-hand knowledge of his stuff. He has struck out more than a batter per 9 inning in the majors and gives up well under a hit per 9 so I find it unlikely he just has a straight fast ball and below average to average other stuff. His walks are the big concern but his numbers suggest good stuff.
  10. While you are right he walks too many people here is a BA blurb on him two years ago. Morrow is the kind of pitcher we want for JJ. We are not going to get a top of the line young pitcher for one year of Hardy so getting Washburn and a guy like Morrow who at best projects as a top-end starter or a future closer would be a nice deal for us. It is a trade for this year and the long-term. It is being a buyer and seller at the same time.
  11. Yeah, heavy chatter from those in the know on both side. And given the Tuesday start, I think this happens tonight or tomorrow or not at all. Whether, of course, we like it or not. I'll be sad to see JJ or Escobar go for a half-year of Washburn on a problematic uninspiring Brewers team (unless, of course, in the end I'm somehow not...). The fact that Jack Z is involved has me nervous. I cannot imagine we would send JJ or Escobar go to get just Washburn. I would assume we would get something back hopefully a young pitcher. If Escobar really is near untouchable I cannot foresee Washburn being a guy we give him up for.
  12. If we could do that I would be all for it, but I dont think the Mariners do that deal. They only have one plus year of Hardy, and give up Morrow for what 4 years or more and a half a season of Washburn. We would have to give a prospect too I would suspect. Maybe Salome
  13. Washburn would be a nice upgrade but I would not give up much for him. He seems like he is really getting lucky this year. I would love to add an arm like Morrow though. He needs to learn to cut down his walks but a young pitcher who is under our control for a while would be a nice addition. I would not give up Escobar for him but I would like to see the Brewers make a trade that can help out this year and down the line.
  14. Good to see Komatsu back in action even. I like him a lot and am excited to see how he can finish the year.
  15. I agree Lawrie will put up better offensive numbers than Alcides, but Lawrie sounds like a guy we can hope to be average at second, or he will be a corner OF'er. Escobar, is already a potential gold glove defender according to scouts.
  16. Apparently Melvin is stretching like the rest of us because in TH's blog Melvin mentioned to TH that Lopez would be get a sandwich pick in return. It seems to me that the compensation pick was in Doug's mind in the trade if he mentions it to TH.
  17. Just ask Orlando Hudson...Hudson is not a good comparison at all. He would have gotten a good contract but he was a Type A free agent and teams did not want to give up a first round pick for him. Here is an article talking about that fact.
  18. Per TH Mat is heading down to AAA with this move. I like him getting more playing time down there.
  19. I like Gillespie but I think this was a good overall value considering we will likely get a sandwich pick as well. Half a year of Lopez and a sandwich pick is worth a guy who projects at best probably as a 4th OF'er and a low-ball reliever.
  20. I would say that has more to do with the expectations for Jeffress with his big arm compared to Adams who has been very disappointing. If this would have been Zach Braddock than there would have been a lot of backlash.
  21. I will take the blame for Braun's struggles these past couple weeks. I traded for him in Fantasy baseball. Anytime I get a player on a team I root for they struggle, so sorry everyone. How about a one-two-three inning here Yo. Way too many pitches so far.
  22. KR also said he was not sure if Halladay would consider coming to the Brewers. Take that for what it is worth because I only believe about 10 percent of the stuff that guy says
  23. Not only is this team good enough to win the division with Halladay this year, we would be a very big threat again next year. A whole year of Halladay with Gallardo, a hopefully improving Parra, Suppan and Bush give us a good rotation to work around. With that we still have Braun, Prince, Weeks returning, and depending on who we have to give up to Halladay some other guys like Hardy, Gamel, or Escobar. Trading for Halladay right now may not win the division for us this, although it sure would help, but it would give us a very solid team for next year.
  24. If he can play better than average defense his offense will be a plus compared to what we have had. Obviously, it does not work like this but if you take his AA stats and throw them into the majors even in with an OPS of .744 he would be better than half of the starting catcher in MLB right now. Now again, I know if he hits only .733 in AA then his MLE would be much lower for the majors, but considering his struggles with being unlucky I think it is safe to say he could produce that number, so if he was better than average offensively and defensively that would be very nice.
  25. Lucroy's BABip is 50 points lower than his career low, so I think there is a good chance we see his numbers improve. He has carried a higher BABip than you would think he should the couple years in the minors but even if gets back to the .300 territory his numbers would put his average around .270 if I am not mistaken. His OBP is still .370 so I would say the big issue is his power. I never expected him to be a 20 plus guy but if he can be a 15 a year guy and keep a solid OBP like he has shown he can than he is very valuable. Next year at AAA should be interesting. If Lucroy hits for a little more power down the stretch and brings his average up I can only assume they will bump him up. If the club sees him as a better catching prospect (like some on this board) than I think it would be a mistake to keep him in AA.
