  1. how about a walk off from braun here
  2. It is nice to see another team go up there hacking away with a pitcher who has had control issues. On a side note Bush had not walked more than 3 guys since opening day. He walked 3 in one inning. Not a good night to forget how to throw strikes, but that was a nice bounce back inning.
  3. 50 plus pitches for Santana in 3 innings. Hopefully the Cubs can keep this up and get to that shaky bullpen.
  4. Lets hope the day off was good for Braun, Hart, and Cameron, and that it didn't cool Prince off. Every game from here on out is huge but winning the first game of a series that you really need to go at least 2-1 in is really important. Lets jump to an early lead have a game like Sunday.
  5. From what I heard Lou has gone on record saying he will start his main guys this last week for the integrity of the playoff push. I am not sure if I agree with the approach but it is a wash since both teams play the Cubs. I could maybe see Lou giving some guys a breather in game 4 of this series, but they are a deep enough team that they can still win games with a couple guys out of the lineup. I feel dirty rooting for the Cubs but I will do it.
  6. Players do play injured a lot and maybe too much so I see your point there. I don't know the extent of the injury but maybe a couple weeks off really would not have helped, I am not sure. Different sport and different injory but look at what Kobe played through last year and even in baseball what Pujols is playing through. Good players often try to play through injuries and sometimes the results are very good. Let's just hope Braun gets hot the next 6 days.
  7. No star player sits when they can still play. Who would have been better for the team? I ask that knowing full well how bad Braun has been but does anyone really jump out at you as an option? Gwynn, Dillion, and maybe Nelson. I would have to go with Nelson in terms of hitting but I have no idea what that mammoth is like in the field since I never watch minor league games, but he is a big boy. Braun needs to stay in the lineup because if he can get good swings in this team can be tough. Without him the lineup looks similar to the last two weeks.
  8. I understand the feeling of being disappointed with losing LaPorta, but Inman sure looked like he leveled off this year. Any of the other guys were expendable for a guy who could get us in the playoffs. Bryson is a good player but in reality with one of the two picks you get for Sabathia should be of equal value. The Brewers would be playing Gamel, Escobar and Salome if they were not right in the thick of a race, but now is not really the time for guys to learn on the job in my mind
  9. Iorg's send of Prince today and Hardy on Thursday have come back to haunt this team. Both were terrible sends and not needed at that time in the game.
  10. Braun with a chance to be a hero here. Lay off the low outside stuff Braunie
  11. that a boy rickie! Lets get a walk here Kendall
  12. handicourt said in his blog that the second or third hand info he had said the game would be made up as a double header on Sunday. I like the Monday option better because CC can go in this series then.
  13. The point that many were making was that for Houston to pass us we would have to play terrible baseball (which we are) and that some other team would pass us first (which may or may not happen but I would say Philly is the team to be worried about). Those people were right on. We played bad and now Philly (and Houston) are ready to pass us. Some may have underestimated Houston but i think it is more that we have played worse than anyone could have imagined. I just dont understand the point of bragging up your prediction. I said I was worried about Houston as did a few others but I get no pleasure out of being right here. It was a lucky guess, and it was a calculated prediction because if Houston did not make a run it was easy to pass off as a long shot.
  14. The Brewers need to split this series. I feel better about the last two games than I do tonight. Blanton and Kendrick should be hittable (I guess the same should be said about Bush and Suppan though). If we can get out of here with a split and then with Sabathia and Sheets going against the Cubs and against Pirates we are not in a terrible situation. Obviously, our bats need to start hitting but we have went through slumps all year only to go on a little run so here is my glass half full hope for that. There is a large part of me expecting the slide to continue and for my attention to focused on the Packers in a couple weeks.
  15. To say that if Braun's name was not Braun we would be calling for him to be out of the lineup is probably true but the same goes for Fielder and Hart whose numbers have been worse. Nobody in this lineup deserves to be in there over the past two weeks. Kendall is batting .279 over the past two weeks, but no one else is doing anything. Braun is hitting .265 with no power, and many of the other guys are struggling to break .200. That is a bad lineup.
  16. Nice inning there Ben. Way to keep the pitch count low. Ben usually settles down after the first.
  17. Bill Hall is downright terrible. His OPS is lower than Weeks and he has manly played against lefties who he is supposed to hit well
  18. Not that I know from watching him but a number Escobar's errors could be do to his exceptional range. He will get to more balls than almost any other player, so that could be why his errors are a little high.
  19. Oddly enough even though he is not getting many hits, especially extra base hits, Braun is walking more lately. He has walked 7 times in the last 14 days. He high month was 8 before this. He 7 BB and 11 K in that time which is a positive step now he just need to drive the ball a little more. Maybe he is taking something off his swing to make contact, but I doubt it, that does not seem like his style.
  20. Durham has earned more starting time right now. On base 3 times today after the pinch hit 3 run shot last night
  21. Well at least this means we wont have the entire bottom of the order in the bottom of the 9th. That is assuming Hall does what I expect him to.
  22. That trade is fully worth right now!
  23. Actually according to Handicourt at least tonight is because Hall struggles against Arroyo and Ned did not want him to miss the whole series, because Billy has the power to drive it out of the park or something like that. link
