  1. It is nice seeing Prince put one out. Hopefully he can go on a homer binge over the next couple weeks
  2. Kendall's average is down in the .250's now but I can't really complain because his D has been way better than what I thought it would be and his OBP is still much better than Estrada's
  3. Salome is only .02 points behind Gamel for average. What those guys are doing in Huntsville is crazy
  4. I agree Hardy's numbers are not pretty but right now, this year, Hall is the guy who is platoon material with a .168 BA, .228 OBP, and Slug .328. You can say small sample size but his numbers are well off his career norms add in the fact he is striking out almost once every three at bats. I guess we could platoon Counsell with Hardy as well as Branyan with Hall but that is a lot of platooning going on. It does go to show this lineup is to right hand dominate
  5. Hardy's BA and Slugging are both higher this year vs RHP, not that they are that good but he does not seem like a platoon candidate in that regard.
  6. Well this is a fun start. How about back to back to back here Prince
  7. 1. Gamel - I am about as pro-LaPorta as there is but gamel's numbers are just to hard to ignore along with seemingly improving defense. 2. LaPorta - I am not overly concerned with the slump because I never thought he was a .300 plus BA guy. If he can continue to hit home runs and get that BA to .290 that is great 3. Escobar - Bat is catching up to glove and he is starting to walk some 4. Jeffress - The arm is there and I feel like the numbers will follow the second half of the season. 5. Salome - Hope he can stick defensively 6. Lucroy - It is nice having two catchers to talk highly of 7. Gillespie - I think he gets over looked a lot because of the others but he is hitting for nice pop 8. Braddock - Lefty arm who's K's are encouraging. Needs to cut down on the walks 9. Brantley - Hard to project because he doesn't have power but his age and OBP are very intriguing 10. Green - I forget about him but need to remember the numbers he is putting up are very impressive for Brevard County Others. Aguilar, Errecart, Cain, Bryson, Hammond. I am also intrigued by Donovan Hand who doesn't strike guys out but just gets batters out.
  8. I agree with Joey in this point. If we trade Prince this off-season the number of suitors will be higher because a NL team would still like 3 years of Prince. If we wait a year or two the number of teams willing to trade top-end, major-league ready prospects will begin to move to only AL team especially if we wait two years. The only teams that will lock Prince up to a long-term deal after he hit free-agency would probably be an AL team or an NL team that does not have a high value on defense and really needs a bat.
  9. This team needs another top end pitcher with Sheets more than likely leaving next year. We would have Yo who is a 1/2 guy, Soup who is at best a 3, Parra who hasnt proved much, Bush who is lucky to be in the rotation and Villy who has not shown consistency. Prince's real trade value is two-fold. He could easily fetch a young stud arm who projects as a Gallardo type, they wont get an established ace for him I dont think. The second value is the money saved on him could be used in numerous places either locking up young guys, retaining Sheets or getting another arm. If you could keep Sheets and get a young arm as a result of trading Prince the rotation could be downright filthy for the near future. Sheets, Yo, Suppan, Pitcher from Prince trade, and Parra is a great rotation. Also it could keep Villy in the pen where he seems to flourish. Bush would be the odd man out but with his inconsistency it would not be a terrible thing. However, the only way you trade Fielder in my mind is if you can get that young Kershaw-type (maybe not Kershaw though since his hype and talent may have driven his trade price really high). We also would need to find another left handed bat somewhere. Even if Gamel comes up that leaves us with the same right-handed dominated lineup we have now.
  10. Jason I pm'ed you about the Wednesday June 4th tickets to see if they were available and to see if I had to get all 4 or if I could just get 2. Thanks
  11. He may be getting pitched differently this year but he seems to be missing pitches a lot more this year. Last year it felt like if the pitcher made a mistake he made them pay, this year it seems like he is missing a lot of those pitching, not just swinging and missing but hitting grounders or pop ups on pitches over the plate. Add to that the fact that he is pressing to get hits and swinging at some bad pitches makes me think it is much less about his dietary habits and much more about his technique and approach.
  12. The bullpen should be nice a rested as well. Bush and Suppan gave them a nice breather
  13. Suppan's ERA is now at 3.93. I know ERA doesn't tell the whole story but it is nice to have another starter with an ERA under 4. It is especially impressive considering 6 and 8 runs in two starts to balloon his ERA
  14. Soup is taking advantage of wide strike zone. Nice pitching
  15. Dodgers did score one there i think it was before the bases were loaded or no? No Z walked a run in with the bases loaded.
  16. Well if it makes you feel better now Lee and Fukudome are both under .300 as well.
  17. I was actually asking what you thought about signing Prince long-term. To me if we know we cannot keep him some time this off-season or next we need to start listening to offers. I dont think it is a knee-jerk reaction to a slow start by Prince as much as to signing Braun long-term, the reality Prince probably wont be signed long-term, and the reality we need top-end starting pitching and the only way to get that without braking the bank is by trading a valuable asset. We shouldn't trade Prince until if we know LaPorta or Gamel are ready to contribute in a 25/30 plus home run fashion. Neither of these guys will match him offensively, although Gamel may be able to hold a higher average. They will probably be better defensively and will be cheap. Prince is an incredible talent and does bring things other than power to the table like OBP. I would not be disappointed if Prince stays here 3 years, but I just wonder if that is the best choice for our organization.
  18. TooLiveBrew do you think the Brewers will be able to afford to keep Prince when he hits free agency? It seems like a forgone conclusion that he wont sign a contract until then, I just don't the Brewers could or should give him the huge contract he will get. Again I like Prince, he has great passion and fire. You and I may differ on his quote, I do think there is some animosity there but I could be wrong. however, my feelings about trading Prince have nothing to do with attitude but all to do with LaPorta and Gamel, Prince's inevitable huge contract, and our need for another stud pitcher.
  19. Just because people think Prince should be traded does not mean I have turned on him. He wants, will get, and deserves big money from someone I just don't think it is smart for the Brewers to be that team to pay him. It is nice to see Mark A let the payroll climb but it obviously will stop somewhere. Prince has great value it what he could be traded for and our best minor leaguers who seem like solid MLB players could replace him. Now they wont match his numbers but I think a guy like LaPorta could be close enough that along with a 1/2 type pitcher and maybe a young reliever with closer potential it would make this team better. It would also free us up financially to sign other guys. Dealing Prince only makes sense if LaPorta and/or Gamel can be good, not average, major league 1B and if we get young, very good starting pitching in return. However, lets not paint us who want to trade Prince as people who have turned on him because he has had a bad start. I want to, and expect to, see him pick it up as much as anyone else. I just think for a small market team you do what can make your team better even if it is trading one of your best players like the A's did with Dan Haren.
  20. Do you really think that was Hart's choice? Seems like the coach would tell him to do that.
  21. I guess I don't know about Cody's stuff, but his numbers have been terrific. ERA at 2.33, 8.9 K's per 9, a Whip of 1.03, and only 4 HR in 32 starts. He is old for his competition so that could explain some of his numbers I guess, but a lefty with those numbers gets me a little excited anyway.
  22. The Brewers have some really nice arms in A ball right now. With Jeffress and Braddock as the top guys and guys like Cody, Hand, Butler, Bryson, Rivas, Anundson, Seidel, and Periard all having nice potential. It would be great to have more arms in the system but it isnt as void as some make it out to be. They just need some of the these guys in AA and AAA. Hammond, Miller and Welch are all intriguing prospects as well, if for no other reason than they have had decent success and are lefties. But I agree it looks like we need to add pitching in this draft.
  23. If you assume only AL teams would want him because of his future price tag I think teams like NYY, Seattle, and LAA are top possibilities. However, you can't count teams like Toronto who don't mind spending and have a big hole at the position. NL teams are a little harder to project with Prince looking destined for the DH role, but some team may like that they get him for 3 years and then could flip him at the deadline for something. If a team is in a win now mode for the next two or three years Prince could end up in the NL as well. Then the door opens up for a lot of teams to jump in.
  24. Wasn't Jackson brought up because he is a lefty? Why not bring up Pena who seems like he is pitching well after one rough outing?
