  1. I know that he has not been having a great year, and maybe the contract stuff is distracting him. I do not think he is a 50 hr a year kind of guy, because I dont think that kind of guy even exist in this league. I think 40 home runs is a reasonably expectation for Prince, and he is not nearly on pace for that but I think he will pick his pace up. I do think a lot of fans over value Prince, but at the same time I think he is a great player and he will go on a little tear soon.
  2. I get that Prince was mad about only getting the normal raise because he just had a huge year, but how often to do young players get more than just the normal raise? I am seriously asking here, because ever since Prince's comments came out about the contract I have been a little put off by his attitude, but if other players have gotten an extra raise then I guess I understand a little more. I still dont like the way he talked about it to the media. He really seems to play the chip on his shoulder card a lot, and if that drives him to be better than I guess power to him
  3. The link works fine for me
  4. Crabbe got sent down by a Padres team that cannot hit. Why would we start him?
  5. Why did they substitute Hart instead of Braun? If you are going to play the defensive substitution game I really think Braun should be the one to sit even if he is hitting well. It is isnt like Hart isnt hitting well too.
  6. I would say the only reason you would have taken Parra out would have been because you deemed it more important to have a pinch hitter when the bases were loaded.
  7. Why isnt Braddock starting games? Are they trying to limit his innings?
  8. Nice job Riske. I like this years bullpen, other than our closer issue of course
  9. I would like to hold onto Fielder too, but I don't know if it makes sense to hold him and get the comp picks since he could net a high return. To me Sheets is the kind of guy you hold out for and keep for a year and get the comp picks because his trade value isnt that high. Fielder, on the other hand, is a very tradeable commodity. I am definitely in no rush to see him go, but would you trade Fielder for Yo type player and one more impact player?
  10. I agree with 100% on the trade idea Gopher, but if the Brewers do trade Prince it will be the winter or summer before his free agent year. I just dont see us trading him when we still have control over him. Even though i think his arby numbers could be through the roof. To me if the team feels LaPorta and Gamel are ready and they can get a package that includes and potential 1/2 pitcher like a Kershaw and another impact player you would have to think long and hard about. To me it is how a small market team has to run. It isnt like if we trade Prince we wont have anyone left to hit. Gamel and LaPorta project great. Braun is a stud and the one I would lock up long term. You have Corey Hart who is solid and then guys like Hardy and Weeks who we dont know what we exactly have with them. We know the Dodgers are desperate for bats after the money they gave Pierre and Jones the past couple years, but they probably feel like they have their 1B of the future with James Loney. It sure is fun to speculate though. It is fun to think of how filthy of a rotation the Brewers could have.
  11. Lincecum was reportedly available this winter for a impact bat. Spitter referenced a report from Tracy Ringolsby in post number 27 of this thread. Here is a link from mlb.com about it link I dont know if he would still be available but they did look at the possibility so he wasnt untouchable this past winter
  12. I actually heard it from some Twins fans when Liriano was dominating. Here is an article that talks about Liriano's injury history, not as much his deliver. It does not flat out say they traded him because they did not think he could hold up but I did hear that from people a couple years back, but that could have been speculation. link
  13. I love Ryan Braun. Now if Prince can start hitting this team could be scary like it should be
  14. Come on now Braun. Just pretend there is no one on base
  15. Well there you go. Two out single, SB, then a single
  16. Yet the Brewers have taken 4 of 6 from the Cubs all on the road. So, I think the Brewers have at least shown they can compete with the Cubs. The Cubs are going to hit a rough stretch at some point this season. They actually just went through a stretch where the went 4-8 over 12 games. before this recent 4 game winning streak. The Cubs have had winning streaks of 4,5, and 6 games this year already. So, they are a streaky team and that could catch up with them over a long season. Not saying it will but to at like the Cubs have been consistent isnt true. They have been all over the place.
  17. Johnson did have a big 2-run home run the other day against the D-backs, but I feel like the Cubs are going to be looking for a center fielder right up until the trade deadline.
  18. Fermaint with a 3-run shot in the ninth to take the lead. Hand has been pitching great if only he stuck out a couple more guys a game. His WHIP is now just over 1 for the season. In 51 innings he has allowed 55 base runners with 30 K's.
  19. I love Prince, but I think gopher's hypothetical Fielder (and maybe a lower prospect) for Kershaw, Broxton, LaRoche deal would make this team better. You get another potential ace pitcher, a potential future closer, and a third baseman who has a terrific OBP. It fits our needs really well, future closer, top-end lefty pitcher, and high OBP guy. You then allow Gamel or LaPorta to be a first baseman, and the other to be in the outfield along with Braun and Hart. Now none of those guys will match Prince's best numbers but it frees us up financially in the future as well. I dont think we will see Prince traded though because of the backlash it will have with fans, especially this early when we still control him for a few more years. A lineup of Weeks 2B LaRoche 3B Braun LF LaPorta RF Hart CF Gamel 1B Hardy SS Kendall or other at C With a rotation of Yo, Kershaw, Parra, Suppan, Villy, with the possibility of keeping Sheets because we arent concerned with locking Prince up. And Broxton with other in the bullpen looks nice on paper to me.
  20. Along with others I am afraid of Lincecum's delivery. Even though how they pitch is different he reminds me of another young pitch the Giants had whom they shipped away...Fransico Liriano. Now, Liriano obviously never got to the majors with the Giants, but part of the reason they traded him is because they didn't think his shoulder and arm could hold up to the snap in his slider. They turned out to be right in long run, but the Twins got one great year out of Liriano and he still could come back. The Giants may feel the same way about Lincecum. They may think his arm won't hold up so why not trade him when his value is sky high. Now unlike Liriano who was a throw-in Lincecum would be the center of any deal. I am not sure what the Giants would want for him, but the Twins traded Matt Garza, a much lesser prospect in my mind, to the Rays for Delmon Young, a highly rated bat with obvious holes in his game. What do people think it would realistically take to get Lincecum whether you want him or not? I dont think I am great at figuring out fair value in trades.
  21. I wish gameday would post a video of the ejection
  22. What is going on here? LaRussa and Molina got ejected?
  23. Wainwright didnt want to have much to do with Braun there.
  24. That just isn't true. They both were bad defenders but Mat's numbers are getting better. His AA numbers are actually better than Braun's were at that level. Gamel did have a horrendous year last year, but there have been some bad defenders who have turned it around. The Cubs Aramis Ramirez is one of those guys. In one season of AAA he had 42 errors and he has become a decent defender.
