  1. I am just hoping we hear something by the end of the week. I am sick of waiting. This has taken so much longer than was anticipated at first. I also just want to hear each side of the story. With the Packers losing early and me not really caring about the NBA this has taken up way too much of my sports intake each day.
  2. Since when has that stopped ESPN from reporting? This is the same network that thoroughly covered Lebron James' latest twitter kerfuffle. And no, this isn't supposed to be in blue. And the network that sat outside Brett Favre's house for like a month with nothing new to report. The dont need anything new to report. They create stories when something isnt there
  3. Braun will absolutely not be the one breaking this news. This is a differing opinion to a lot of people here. Many have said that if Braun wins the appeal MLB will not be the one breaking that news but it will be Braun breaking that news. Not sure why you seem so certain MLB would break the news of someone winning an appeal against them
  4. It is only bad if Braun gets suspended. If he doesnt then I dont see why it would be. Lose Fielder, Yuni, Casey, Hawkins, Kotsay, and Saito get Ramirez, Gonzalez, Veras, Aoki while bringing up Gamel. Obviously Fielder hurts but we lost a couple guys who had almost negative value to the team like Casey, Yuni and Kotsay
  5. Does the fact that Matt V said he was instructed b the MLB Network necessitate this is an MLB announcement. Could someone from Braun's camp contacted the MLB Network? Just a thought
  6. What if they plan the news conference to thoroughly explain what went wrong in the process in order to try to have the public keep a high view of the testing process? If Braun were to be found not guilty I would think MLB would want to do damage control right off the bat to show why their testing process was still trustworthy and what steps were being put in place so this didnt happen again. The other thoughts make sense to me as well, but i just dont fully see why MLB would want to help create a media circus for one of its young stars being suspended
  7. Cubs send Chris Carpenter to the Red Sox for Epstein
  8. I enjoyed Moneyball but didnt feel like I was watching an Oscar-worthy movie.
  9. Gasser's defense has been really good so that is a positive. I wonder if he is tired from guarding the other teams best guard. He is not overly quick but still gets to the rim at a high percentage when he is aggressive. I had low expectations for Brust coming into the year. His non-conference shooting gave me a lot of hope and now he is doing about what I expected.
  10. I know some will say ESPN isn't saying anything because there really isnt any new news but has that stopped them before. Remember the constant reporting of nothing new with Brett Favre. They loved sensationalized stories and MLB's reigning MVP failing a test is a huge story, so it is strange all they have said in the last few weeks is that a decision is coming
  11. Bruiser has been the biggest disappointment on this years team. With how he finished last year I thought he would take a nice jump but that just hasn't happened. Gasser has had a couple nice games but not a ton. They both had nice games yesterday (Bruiser on the glass and Gasser from 3) but that hasnt happened very often.
  12. I called Vander out for disappearing in Big East play because it had been true. He has had more 10 point games in BE play in the last 3 weeks than all the games combined before. Vander's issue is the lack of an outside game. He is very good in transition and can get to the rim (where he had been struggling to finish) but it is harder to get to the rim when teams dont let you get in transition and dont respect your jumper. He does have a ton of talent though
  13. I didnt see the game but Todd Mayo looked to find his shot again. He is the X-factor to Marquette for me. He can create his own shot and score in the half-court. If he finds his game again Marquette will be very dangerous (well even more than the already are)
  14. Yep, typical espn acting like it is a certainty Braun will be found guilty unless that "bombshell" they are saying will happen is going to be Braun being exonerated. I don't really have a problem with ESPN running with the story. I have a problem with the misinformation at first (what he tested positive for) and now all their talking heads just assuming he is guilty like there is no way he could be innocent
  15. Well, if we are going to do the what if's, how about if Otule hadn't gotten hurt. In a typical Big East Year MU probably does what they almost always do. Get picked to finish 8th or so, lose a bunch of 1 point games to top 10 teams, knock one or two off, then finish 5th and be 5 points away from finishing second or third. I agree the injuries have hurt and I said I think Marquette is an elite 8 type team so I hope you didnt think I was trying to diminish what they have done. I just think think it is an interesting question to ask because at this point in a typical BE year they would have probably played 8-10 games against ranked teams not 4-5.
  16. Is there any possibility if there are extenuating circumstances that the suspension could be reduced? I probably asked this earlier in the thread but I dont remember the answer.
  17. I really like Marquette's team this year. I think there are a couple factors into their overall success. 1. DJO has been tremendous and Crowder compliments him well. 2. They are very athletic and can over come their own lack of size. 3. The Big East is way down this year. In normal years it is a dogfight every night. This year is much different. Marquette has only played 4 teams who were ranked at the time they played. That is unheard of for the BE. ND is ranked now so they have 5 games against ranked teams. They are 2-3 in those games. That last point is not meant to diminish Marquette's success because I think they are an elite 8 type team but I wonder what their record would be in a typical BE year
  18. I just dont understand what is taking so long. I am sure pe or someone else understands the whole process better but I just dont get it. Could someone explain to me why there is such a hold-up in this case? I know the 25 days is more for the regular season but you would think that since this leaked out they would like to wrap it up as soon as they can.
  19. I am somewhat surprised MLB didnt try to move this process along a little quicker once everything got leaked. The news broke on Dec 10th (and they knew well before that). It took a long time to set up the arbitration panel and now the decision is taking a long time as well. You would have thought they would have wanted this handled much faster. I know they want to be thorough (or at least perceived to be thorough) but considering this whole decision is coming down to one guy I just cant fathom why it is taking this long. At the same time I guess I am glad they didn't rush to a decision.
  20. I dont think I follow your thought process. There is no way ESPN knows for sure Braun is guilty unless they know what the independent arbitrator is thinking. He is the one who is essentially determining this whole thing and I doubt their source from the start is connect to him. ESPN could end up being right but for some of these guys to act like they KNOW what is going to happen is wrong unless they have talked to the independent arbitrator.
  21. Just watched 50/50 the other night. I really enjoyed the film. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was great. I thought Anna Kendrick was good too. Seth Rogen was Seth Rogen but I thought he was fine.
  22. I do like that the Badgers are winning games on the road this year. They havent beaten anyone great but they have beaten teams that are bubble teams like Minnesota, Illinois and Purdue. That gives me hope as they move in the tournament and have neutral site games. Their defense is just incredible this year. They are right near the top or at the top in Field goal percentage against, points against and fewest fouls committed. Some try to say the Badgers defense looks good because they slow they game down but that just isnt the case. Their field goal percentage defense and lack of fouls show they simply play great defense.
  23. If it stinks this much for us imagine what it is like for Braun. IF he is innocent imagine what the last few months have been like.
  24. I think they have an exclusivity deal with retirement homes. It would make sense since I havent met many people my own age (29) who watch CBS
  25. Completely agree on CBS. Whenever I hear them say "The most watched network" it makes me cringe. I am one of the few people who cannot stand NCIS and I get bored with the CIS stuff. I can list of quickly which CBS shows even interest me - The Big Bang Theory (but even with that I find it formulaic) and Person of Interest (havent watched but will some day). That is it. Unless it is college football/basketball or the NFL I never watch CBS. And since their football is the SEC and their NFL is the AFC I rarely watch their sports until March Madness
