  1. I'm guessing it would also depend on how Arizona does. Actually, I'm pulling for Arizona to play the Padres in the first round.
  2. Uggh... not paying attention to futbol again, was I... https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/breaking-down-manchester-citys-fight-against-the-premier-league-and-115-alleged-violations-of-financial-rules This seems to be much more complicated than a salary cap in American sports. BTW: wasn't the o/u on the number of charges around 150? 😉
  3. In your opinion, is it poor personnel or poor coaching? I was not a fan of Tressel and am still not a fan.
  4. The Brewers won't have Rowdy to kick around anymore 😢... or for that matter, he won't hit dingers off of the Crew.
  5. The line opened at -4.5 for USC? Too bad I didn't see that. I could see where it moved to -14.5 quickly. Bucky loses by 28.
  6. Thought this might be somewhat appropriate today?
  7. This is an excellent piece. In the modern day of Statcast and fantasy baseball, there are no categories for hard work, and desire. You might see a result of those attributes, but when people are looking to make trades, the "hard work" coefficient cannot be taken into account. There is also something to be said for your teammates having your back. The "family" type of environment that exists -- even when Counsell was the manager -- allows players to feel more comfortable. I think Murphy has allowed the players to have input into what is going on with the team. Look at Willie for example. We know that Murphy wanted to sit him earlier in the year. Willie asked that he be able to play and Murphy put him back in the lineup. Many people disagreed including those on this board that called Murphy a bad manager for allowing this. Fortunately, it worked out. The point is that Murphy isn't necessarily a dictator allowing the players to have a say. I hope they win the whole thing...
  8. Fantastic!!!!! I like it when you get some cross over. Like when Mark Rober worked with How Ridiculous to make a trampoline.
  9. When does the Loan period start? Wait... wrong futbol...
  10. Ahhhh... here is the preseason estimate. I'm glad I'm wrong.
  11. I tried to find my post where I said they would win 78 games, and I couldn't. So, I'm holding myself accountable. I wanted to wait because, you know, I would jinx the season if I said something sooner... 😉 Brewers -- I apologize for doubting you. I know it is pessimistic Wisconsin Sports upbringing, but that is no excuse. I did not think the starting pitching would be able to hold up. Actually, the staff, as a whole, did the job. Also, the offense was something I didn't see coming. I expected Willie to be traded mid season and the Brewers to stock up on more minor-league talent. Boy... was I wrong... So, now that that is over, LFG!!!!!!! Humbly yours, Samurai
  12. ... much less a National League DH 😉
  13. I was fortunate to watch BP on Friday before the game. I noticed that on Turang's load, his hands come back and his bottom hand goes further back than his top hand. His back elbow also comes back behind his torso a little to make more of a rotational load as opposed to a rocking or straight back load. I thought about seeing if I could find some footage from the side of his hands at the beginning of the year, but ended up not doing that since Turang hit well for the weekend. 😉 Frelick is an enigma. Personally, I don't like it when he puts so much weight on his back foot. I know why he does it, though -- he needs to get his ball in the air. It seems he gives up solid contact in an effort to lift the ball. If he were stronger, he might be able to get away with it more. Bauers -- he hasn't hit well all year. Not sure if you could call him a slapper.
  14. I 100% agree with this take. Up to this point, Ortiz had taken the collar. He also looked very bad on at least one of his at bats. My feeling is Murphy thought Ortiz wasn't doing all that well and knew Ortiz could, at least, get the bunt down and put pressure on the defense. The ball was hit the ONE PLACE it could not be hit -- right back to the pitcher. Based on the way the game was going, this was the right move. Frelick's bunt was, again, absolute garbage execution. When I listened to Yelich explain how to bunt, he says you need to "Catch the ball." Frelick punched at it to get it down the third base line. You are sacrificing yourself at that point. Now, Frelick wasn't having the best game, either. He had an RBI base hit that was a seeing eye single, but nothing to really write home about. If Frelick gets it on the ground, Haase is up next who has been hitting the ball hard. Then you got the top of the order. So, I agree with the strategy in both of these cases. The players need to do their job and be better.
  15. Interesting... I did a quick search to see how much the difference is by state. This is from 2003, so it is a little old and I'm sure the ratio is changing rapidly. There is a nice interactive map in the middle of the article. Apologies if this was posted before. https://www.self.inc/info/electric-cars-vs-gas-cars-cost/
  16. Looks like I picked a good weekend to take a trip to Arizona... 😁 We ended up catching the last part of the third quarter and the fourth. Uggh... Wisconsin has a lot of work to do. Unfortunately, this reminds me of Gary Anderson's tenure so far. I'm sure it is different, but it feels the same.
  17. Nope. Point being that there is ALWAYS complaining about Murphy. Like somebody said, we can do that here. Others can get on here and say… relax
  18. I recall a game recently where Murphy asked this question indirectly. When Murphy didn’t pull him, the board had a meltdown. See St Louis
  19. I think you are onto something here. Yount is almost 70. Gorman is in his early 70's. Gumby is 71. I think some of these guys are going to start passing on.
  20. I saw Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 20% while the viewers gave it a 98%. Why the big difference?
  21. Dugout 54. There is a church a block to the west you can park at where they take $10. You also get a voucher for a discount on beer / food if you eat at Dugout 54 before the game. You can choose to park on the street and use their shuttles, too. The drivers are paid by tips only, so a couple of bucks works well. We have used them for almost all of the games we went to this year. Much cheaper and easier for sure.
