  1. Yeah, just imagine if Marco's unexpectedly short outing had been the day after the 14 inning affair. Nice work, Wholestaff! Plus in the wafer-thin-silver-lining department, Marco had the GWRBI.
  2. While I hope it's not a lengthy absence for Marco, I don't see how they can realistically avoid a DL stint. It's not like they have a surplus of reliable pitchers on the 25-man roster. Nashville is in Vegas tonight and Thursday night, so after today a pitcher would only have to travel to Arizona. Stay strong, Johnny Wholestaff.
  3. Fixed that for you. I mean, I know Yadi is as fine a player as ever, but in general, why on earth would TLR pick a Cardinal over a Brewer? since we're the least classy people in the universe or whatever. It's about CHARACTER, man.
  4. I could easily see Luc being among the final-vote candidates, and a bunch of carpal tunnel syndrome cases (led by mine) arising as a result. I would not expect TLR to choose him otherwise. At the very least, Luc has kind of been Mr. May these last two Mays, which is nice in and of itself. Yesterday was a blast and a half for me. I decided during the 2011 NLCS to get a Lucroy jersey over the off-season. However, I was one of the very first to board the Lucroy bandwagon - to the extent that I had a custom shirsey made at Miller Park during the Twins series in June 2010 (when the terrace level store had a custom counter), mostly to protest the lack of premade shirseys in the team store, despite there being plenty of full-price Gregg Zaun shirseys. That is a heck of a run-on sentence, but such is the depth of my fan crush on Luc.
  5. Yeah, usually once a one-sided slugfest gets out of hand, I tend to think such conservative thoughts as "hey, save some offense for the rest of the season." However, the Brewers had lost EVERY Sunday Plus game of the year prior to this Sunday's game, so I made a conscious choice to enjoy the whole thing. The cool thing about this game was the redemption of my top three current Brewer fan crushes (in alphabetical order): Greinke, Hart and Lucroy. Thanks, guys. Also, by now the mere mention of the Milwaukee Brewers must be about enough to put Jason Marquis in the corner in a fetal position. Some of you know that the hawing household happened to be in DC when the Brewers last faced (and last pounded) Marquis, so I wasn't completely surprised to see it happen again. At least this time there could be no Counsell Crush. Most interesting retro jersey seen at this game: a pinstriped Kevin Seitzer jersey that looked way too pristine to be game-worn.
  6. Agreed. I remember the last time I saw Jason Marquis pitch against the Brewers on a Sunday. It was in Washington and featured a Counsell Salami. So I'd rather see him.
  7. I don't know. The only lineup I've found for the Twins so far has Brian Duensing pitching instead. We have to leave for Milwaukee soon so I can't search for confirmation much longer.
  8. We learned today that my S.O.'s eldest sister has some kind of malignancy in her lung. I don't think she knows what kind yet, but gelatinous fluid on one of the lungs is what got the doctors wondering. She and her husband are longtime chain smokers - longer than I have been alive, and I'm in my mid-40s. They are very nice people, but I'm sorry to say I know them less well than the rest of the family because just being around them gives me respiratory distress. Apart from this news just being flat out bad, I find myself kind of wondering, what did you think was going to happen after all that smoking. I feel some guilt for thinking so, yet I'm pretty sure it's what the rest of the family has already been thinking. We'll find out on Memorial Day weekend at the next family gathering. Anyway, that's my bug for now.
  9. SAVE US ZACK GREINKE. Seriously. I'm rearranging my weekend to spend time I don't have watching you pitch.
  10. Joe Block was just saying that Trevor Plouffe is hot lately. So which is it? .135 or "hot"?
  11. It'd be nice to have Gomez on the basepaths right now, wouldn't it?
  12. In what universe did Tim Dillard become the first guy considered out of the pen?
  13. Do you suppose he's trying to show up the world by deliberately making bad calls? "I'll show YOU bad umpiring!"
  14. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5r0-pq6kl3U/TlsxAwB8LcI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/PnC1yKwUcbA/s1600/BuhBye.jpg Thanks for being available for the 12th and 13th innings last Friday.
  15. I don't think Brewerfan readers are in doubt anymore about your take on Roenicke.
  16. They had the "guess tonight's attendance" in the mid-8th as usual. This was tough to sit through. Taking a 7th inning walk and exchanging snark with thablingster helped distract me from the Chulk outing, but man. I felt especially bad for Manny Parra, who really didn't need a five (six?) out inning. The Brewers are utterly without mojo. Where did it go? It can't have all been Prince.
  17. Brewerfan.net: Catering to the 1% (of Brewers fans) since 2001. OK, sorry. Please carry on.
  18. Or unless you don't live in/near Milwaukee. Though I get their wanting to make it less crazy than last year.
  19. Doug signed with the Royals, so maybe mid-June instead of early June.
  20. I'll get on board with you on this. By no means do I dislike Marco as a starter; and I imagine he appreciates a more regular schedule (and who knows how much that contributes to his relative success lately). But I sure wouldn't mind having his current level of effectiveness in relief. Also: Wasn't Vinnie Chulk's callup intended to be kind of an emergency stopgap measure? It's been over two weeks. No one else at Nashville is more rested now?
  21. Yup. Y U NO LIKE SUNDAY PLUS CUSTOMERS ANYMORE BREWERS?
